I'm sad since I wanted to like this place. The people are nice and they opened recently. The restaurant is located in old D Thai restaurant. I think what makes me sad is that the food we got was nothing like anything pictured in menus and online. Everyone else got very full looking dishes and very meaty skewers. Honestly as I continue writing this review and look back at the photos of the menu I think it was complete false advertising (don't know whether to laugh or cry, but progressively more annoyed). We didn't get anything that resembled what was pictured in the menu. There are better Himalayan restaurants both north and south of here. Mango Lassi -10/10: very watered down mess. Literally tasted like water was added to normal lassi to thin it out. Texture was like juice not thick nor creamy, and more like flavored water. Sekuwa: supposedly skewered grilled meat that was recommended to us; the pictures are of chunks of meat, but instead it looked like someone cut up one piece of a singular small lamb chunk into 8 very thin slices (onion thin) and rearranged them in straight lines to make it look like it came off a skewer. On a thin bed of onions and green pepper. For a $17 entree I'd expect actual chunks of meat - just Google a sekuwa, then look at my photos of the paper thin meat. Definitely not the same thing. I did like the char flavor of the grilled meat, but there was really not more than one meager bite per person. Looking back I don't think I should have even been charged for this dish as it was more weight in veg than meat. I looked at photos on yelp and those people had CHUNKY meat, so I'm not sure what went wrong. (Note: photo makes it look larger bc the "skillet" but that's a small skillet and meat is like 4" in length, like roughly 2.25 lime wedge lengths) Chicken Butter Masala: I do like that they made the chicken thinly sliced so it wasn't as dry as all other establishments. Dish was very very sauce focused and lacked protein, like maybe it's the same as 2-3 pieces of normal restaurant chicken chunks (sliced thin for the illusion of more meat), same pattern throughout the whole meal -- lack of protein or watered down. In the picture you literally can only see one piece. Palak Paneer 0/10: First off, visually it looked wrong. It was not green but red. Same problem with too much sauce but none of main ingredients specified in the name. Very sad bits of spinach inside a weirdly tomato based sauce and was watery vs thick. Again with skimping out on protein - only 3 chunks swimming in sauce. We ordered mild and it was medium; they messed up a few orders around us tonight as well but we didn't complain about anything. New restaurant maybe working out the kinks. This dish was too salty so no one ate it. Lamb korma: didn't taste the cashew much and like the chicken, lamb was diced so small vs the usual chunks you get elsewhere. Best tasting of the three curries we ordered. Visually looked similar to the butter masala chicken. Rice: give you a ton, probably meant to just eat saucy rice instead of protein here. Naan: ordered garlic and cheese options. There's an almost gooey chewy texture to it? Maybe undercooked? Not sure. Doesn't compare to naan elsewhere at the very least. Puri: when the naan got deep fried it was nice and crispy and not too greasy. Service: the waitresses there are very nice; service when busy is pretty slow, the food order was a bit funny too (couple curries came out well before any naan). I like the colorful flag decor inside and outside.

This place brings me back to my Nepal travels! Delicious momos and dal -- and more -- let's dive in ... Dal (5/5): This lentil soup is a perfect consistency, uber flavorful, and rich aromas! Chicken momo (4/5): A nice big bite of chicken with tasty seasoning. Comes with two spicy sauces that bring the heat! Beef and chive momo (5/5): Very rich flavor of beef paired with the sharper green onion. The sauces with this are even spicier -- proceed at your own risk! Worth dipping a chopstick in for the depth of flavor in each though. Butter Masala Chicken (4/5): This was ordered mild and was a nice sweet dish to balance out all the spicy elsewhere. I wish the Marsala came through even more but the buttery flavor coats the mouth nicely. Chicken Manchurian Ball (5/5): This dish is not a ball as the title suggests, but instead fried chunks of breaded chicken in a toothsome sauce. In any event, I'm not mad. The flavor isn't shy and the heat is a nice slow burning feel. This was ordered spicy. I would order it medium or spicy next time depending on my mood. Garlic Naan (5/5): Buttery, garlicy, and nice air pockets. Hits the spot and a must-dip in both chicken dish sauces -- of which they provide you plenty! Customer Service (5/5): I did take out and asked for two spicy sauces on the side upon arrival and said please charge me for the side -- but the lovely hostess refused to charge me anything extra. The pickup process is easy. I was there while another couple arrived to do the same and restaurant staff were on top of it all. Ambiance (5/5): I was picking up but the place has cute decor. Love the colorful prayer flags throughout -- reminds me so much of my Nepal trip! TL;DR: This new restaurant should be on everyone's try list! It's a wide menu with something for everyone but make sure no matter what that you add momos to your order.

Love this new Himalayan spot, right off the Saw Mill Parkway. Such great value and so good. This spot started as a food truck, currently at the Pleasantville Farmer's Market, and now they've opened their first restaurant. Delicious chicken, veggie, beef and chives momos. Comforting, healthy thukpa soup, like a heartier chicken soup with more veggies and thicker noodles. The Thali set is unbelievable value for $15, giving you the chance to sample chicken curry, black lentils, cauliflower and potato, rice, and even dessert. Coming back to try the owner's butter chicken, which I hear is the best, and their mango lassi. 5 stars!!!!

Sikkim Hut The Taste of Himalaya is a new restaurant that just opened in January. This amazing restaurant offers authentic Himalayan, Indian, and Indo-Chinese cuisine. My husband and I really enjoyed this place, our first time trying Himalayan food. The variety of dishes were endless and the food was beautifully presented. We ordered the masala chai, crispy veg fritters, beef sekuwa, mix momo platter, and Nepali thali chicken set. Everything was so incredible and flavorful. Lovely decor, excellent service, dog-friendly, a true gem, definitely a repeat spot. The owners, Chef Dendup Sherpa and his wife, Dawa Tsamchut were perfect hosts and so welcoming. I can't wait to go back and try everything else.

I was so happy to hear that they opened another restaurant in Glen Cove! Plenty of street parking is available, and they even have a shared parking lot in back of the restaurant! I parked in the back, and entered the restaurant via the backdoor! Note that there are stairs at the back entrance, so if you can't do stairs, it's best to park in front of the restaurant. This Glen Cove locations is lovely; beautiful murals and great vibes. I was shocked and sad to see it so empty on a Saturday evening! I hope more people give this place a chance because the food and service is great! This was our Shared Menu (plenty for 2ppl, and we had leftovers): -- Water Buffalo Momos w.Chili Sauce (8pcs/$18): the Momos were tasty; the meat was very lean. I would skip the Chili sauce next time. I didn't like the sweet and sour taste of the sauce, so next time I'd like to try the steamed Momos with Johl sauce instead. -- Choila Roti "Not a Taco" with Jackfruit (2pcs/$12): Not a Taco but similar to a taco. This was delicious and I'd get this again. We choice the Jackfruit version but they also have a chicken version. -- Masala Wings (Sauteed wet version) (4pcs/$11): I remember really liking the wings when I was at the Ridgewood location but couldn't recall which wings we had. On this visit, we had the wet version which was good but I realized that I like their dry version better. -- Grilled Lamb Chops w.Timur Sauce, Veggies & white rice (2pcs/$25): Surprisingly, this was my least fave dish of the night. I normally love lamb chops but these chops didn't really have a nice seared taste to them. The texture was a little off for me. Also, it was very boney with not much meat. I would try another entree next time. All in all, a good meal! I found the large selection of appetizers more interesting than the entrees, and would have been happy just sharing a bunch of appetizers and small plates. Customer service was welcoming and friendly! It was a pleasure to chat with the owner. Nice addition to the neighborhood!

We got seated right away in their cozy dining room. We ordered the Not a Tacos, chicken momo jhol style, the chicken thuka, and the masala wings dry style. I also got a chiya. Everything we ordered was immaculate and delicious. Since this place was envisioned more as a hangout space, the portions are shareable so that you can drink and chat with friends. It was the perfect size for us. Our favorites were the masala wings and the momos. Those wings were so crispy and cooked to perfection. If we were local I'm sure this would become our go-to spot.

My husband and I both got tikka masala dishes. He got chicken and I got the shrimp. In hindsight I wish I had tried the Saag just so we could have tasted a different sauce. However, the tikka masala was truly the best we've ever had. And we are always chasing excellent food so we've had our share. The dumplings were great but we would likely opt for a different appetizer as they didn't really blow us away. The service though is really what puts this place over the top.
