Great ambience and food at this landmark location in Indianapolis near the speedway. Park on two sides of the building.Food can be brought to your car,(just turn lights on) or to your table outside on the patio. Get into the 50s vibes. Service staff is very nice and efficient. She also did a great job considering it was understaffed that day.

Food: great price for what you get. My peanut butter banana shake was delicious. My son loved his root beer float. Apparently they make their own root beer. Onion rings were light and crispy. Not too much batter which made them easy to eat and not feel full. We got the chicken tenders, hamburger and cheese burger kids meal. All yummy. We will most definitely be back to try more of the big menu. Service was quick, friendly and everything you'd want. Ambiance: place is older/run down but that really just adds to the character. It's been around for a while so it was to be expected. Can't wait to come back and try their desserts and other shake flavors .

I love that this place still has your order taken and brought out to the car window! You can't go wrong with a tasty cheeseburger and French fries or onion rings! Root Beer is a must! The tenderloin is one of my favorites!

Everyone talks about the drive-in, but don't miss the pizza shop in the back! (The pizza shop is carry-out only.) I'm usually not a huge fan of pizza, but I'll eat this one EVERY chance I get! Their pizza is consistently excellent- nice, slight crisp to the crust, great cheese, a nice sauce, plenty of toppings... I'm salivating just thinking of it. My family has been getting pizza here since I was a kid (about 45 years ago)!

Long time old fashion car hop!!! Food is good...they have a full menu with all sorts of things, we ordered double cheeseburger, chili cheese dogs and onion rings and mugs of homemade root beer!!! Service was great and atmosphere is awesome..definitely family and pet friendly. They have a nice covered area with tables to eat and you can also just pull up and someone will come and take your order. Also a walk in restaurant next door!! Give them a try...we definitely will be going back to try other menu items.

I pulled up and received service right at my car door window. I ordered root beer floats, onion rings, and French fries! I didn't wait very long to receive my food once I placed my order. Onions rings were hot and crispy, on the larger side (definitely shareable). The root beer float was deliciously sweet and creamy! The root-beer was one of the best I've had so good!

The chili cheese dog with onions and fries is delicious.

Mug n Bun is a Westside staple after 50 years and loved by many with a steady following. Unfortunately, it is currently for sale and some uncertainty for the future for us who visit often. Our go-to's are the chili dogs and family size French fries. My son loves the breaded tenderloin with everything on it. The milk shakes are good, and I order the peanut butter. The shrimp, chicken, and catfish dinners are very popular. The Italian Sausage and Polish Sausage are decent, and the Sirloin Steak Hoagie is hit and miss. Sometimes it is very tender and next time tough. There is outdoor seating on the deck with indoor seating at the Mug n Bun house next to the parking lot. They are open year round. Mug n Bun Pizza is located at the back of the parking lot. Pizzas are CARRY OUT ONLY. They are very popular with patrons. Pizzas are obviously offered as well as subs, fried chicken, pork chops dinners, and chicken dinners along with family dinners. Family dinners include potatoes, slaw, and rolls. After 54 years, they must be doing something right! Whether you carry out, sit in your car to eat, sit on the deck, or go indoors, it will trigger those nostalgia days of car hops and drive-ins. Stop in and take advantage of Mun n Bun in case they disappear from Speedway soon.

I have not been to this place in years. I was in the area and was trying out where to grap lunch. I know it was sold a couple of years back, but food is still the same. I pulled right in, and the server came out and handed us a menu. I ordered the double hamburger without cheese, seasoned fries, and a chocolate milkshake. Food is made fresh and came out HOT!. The hamburger was on bun, but a slice a white bread was placed on top of the bottom bun. I thought it was weird and too much bread. The fries were good but overly seasoned. Chocolate milk was delicious. We decided to eat there because the weather was so nice. Our server was semi attentive, but it became busy, so I can understand a bit. The building itself could use some updating, and it's still easy to find a spot to pull up in. Definitely will be back to try other things since they are open year round. It is important to note the servers take cash tips only, venmo, or cash app. It's plastered everywhere.

Friends invited us here and we had never even heard of the place, but it appears to be a West Side, Indianapolis staple. It is pretty close to the Indianapolis Speedway so I think if you frequent the area you know of this spot. They have the old school drive up and order from your car theme going on but also they have an outside seating area where you can hang out as well. They have a few that are covered and some that aren't. There is plenty of parking as well. The service wasn't the best, however not totally shocking considering it is really a dive bar. There were just 2 people working and they were pretty swamped but what I liked is that they were really trying. Like they would run over to a table and let them know they would be right with them. Some places they just move slow like they have no urgency but this place they really did. They were doing the best they could do. They have a HUGE menu with lots of random things but I think their claim to fame is root beer so you gotta order that at least once. They do have diet too. I had a veggie burger which was pretty good. Others at the table had the chili dog which looked amazing, hamburgers, fish and fries. The prices are quite reasonable we had all sorts of food and spent less than $50.

Ask the Community - Mug n Bun

I'm just wondering why they don't do card tip for the servers? I always feel real bad because I don't carry cash with me everytime I go to mug n bun. I understand that it's an old fashion drive in but the servers deserve every opportunity for a tip.

I would assume that this is because of the high transaction costs of credit card machines and the % that the credit card company takes. I did however see today that they are taking zelle, Venmo, and cash app for tips as well as cash.

Is there actually a differences between the superburger and the double cheeseburger?

    The Super has Bacon.

As pizza enthusiasts, I am so disappointed in us for not having ever been here before! We landed at…read morethe Indianapolis International Airport and were extremely hungry after a long day of travel. I checked Yelp for saved restaurants in Indy (we live in Hamilton County) and Brozinni's was one of the closest to our location. You can never go wrong with pizza. We arrived and the dining room was nearly full on a Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere was very light and lively. There's an indoor go-kart track connected to the business, and we noticed lots of teens and families making their way through the restaurant and out a side door (the restrooms are also located through those doors). I wondered why the entrance would require folks to walk through the restaurant but later found that the track does have a separate entrance. Our server came by to take our drink orders, and although we were ready to order food too, she asked that we hold off until she came back. She later apologized for the delay in receiving our pizza too, so I think she was really busy. Nevertheless, we ordered a beer and an apple ale and eventually ordered the potato skins app and the 16" Park Avenue pie (pepperoni, sausage, ham and bacon). The skins are made in-house and are substantial in size and toppings. They are really a good, quality option. They came with sour cream, but we requested some ranch dressing as well, and one of the food runners came right out with it for us. They had several young people working as runners and bussers and the managers/owners (I'm not sure of their titles) were stepping in and helping as well. We love to see an operation where everyone is working to make sure that the customers are taken care of. We demolished our appetizer and barely had room for the pie when it arrived but ate some anyway because it was hot and looked so delicious. The crust was perfect. The toppings were generous. 16" is a massive undertaking for two people! We enjoyed the pizza that night and the next and we can't wait to go back!

Tonight I opted for something new and tried Hell's Kitchen- basically a buffalo chicken calzone. It was ok at first, but the more I ate the less I liked it. They went way overboard with the Frank's Hot Sauce. It's not "cooked into" the food- it's like they just poured a bottle of sauce into it. It was completely "wet" and over saturated with sauce. 1/3 to 1/2 as much would have been plenty of flavor, but this was just too much. The bottom of the calzone was soggy from the excessive sauce. I like spicy food, but this was like drinking Frank's straight from the bottle. Too much of a good thing.... I would not order Hell's Kitchen again. Next time, I think I'll stick to The Bronx. Their calzones are huge, and fairly priced- I just didn't like this flavor because they overdid it. Service was good, as always. I've never had a bad server here.

I had to actually walk up to the bar in the Tavern to pay for my pie. You will find it on the side of the Tavern, near the back. It has a decent sized parking lot, but the spots were pretty much all taken up with Tavern patrons while I was there. They have outdoor patio seating available and you could probably also eat in the Tavern's indoor dining area if you wanted. They have a very compact menu consisting of a few signature pies or you can build your own with their toppings. You can get either a 10", 12" or 16" (they have a 6" option if you make your own. It is not available for signature pies.), you call it. I ordered the Death by Scorpion Sauce 10" pie. I got the scorpion sauce on the side because I did not know what to expect. The pie was ready in about 10 minutes. It was hot, fresh and delicious. It had a little kick to it, like I like. But it was not overly spicy to the point that you could not enjoy it. I really liked it. It was hard making it home without digging in, with it smelling all good and stuff on my passenger seat. In addition to my scorpion sauce on the side, the guy threw in some parmesan cheese and peppers packets. I will be the first to admit that this place looks like a hole in the wall when you are approaching it. However, they make a good pie. I highly recommend checking out this hidden gem. I am sure that you won't be disappointed.

Once we arrived the pizza was being pulled out of the oven and was piping hot and smelled delicious. We ordered a 16 inch Katie Bug Pie which had veggies and a veggie patty. We asked for light cheese but might not have been heard as if this is light then regular cheese must be an abundance. Next time we would probably choose no cheese just to taste the veggies more fully. The dough was a nice flavor with lots of veggie toppings and plenty of sauce. It was a round pie which allowed for big slices and two were plenty for each my husband and I which means they were full of flavor and veggies. My only slight thought would be it is a tad salty fir me, perhaps the veggie Patty or sauce had more salt than I like but it was still delicious. I can't speak to their other options but from our first try it was a worthy spot for a take away pizza. Plus they have a cat that comes for petting and ha going out in the courtyard and who doesn't love a snuggle after pizza? Definitely worth trying out!
