I've had nothing but great experiences at every Mud Bay location I've been to - the employees are always super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I have a rescue dog with a lot of issues and they've always been able to recommend me something great for every need I had. They fitted my pup for a harness, found treats he loved, and recommended me a wonderful product - their own brand of salmon oil that comes in a convenient pump bottle - when I asked for something that would help him be more interested in his food. For the first time ever, he's now eating his food as soon as I fill the bowl because of this product! Can't recommend this store enough - even though I'm an avid Amazon shopper, I make sure to come here for everything I can carry by myself. read more

Mud Bay is wonderful. Their staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and know how to wrap our shy girl around their little finger. They are happy to help you find the perfect food, treat, toy, etc. for your pet, no matter how many questions you have and are happy to give out samples so you can be sure to buy the right thing next time! just recently moving here I was on the search to look for a place to find eats for my dog...I (or rather my dog) had some demands: 1. It had to be close to our new home in Capitol Hill 2. It had to have the brand of RAW food that my dog will actually eat -She is a senior -She is picky -She is hulla moody when we move and will refuse to eat completely 3. The people need to be super nice who work there 4. The prices need to be fair 5. There has to be a parking lot All of her demands were met. The 2 folks who I met at the store about 30 minutes before close were very patient, cheerful and kind. They didn't have my exact type of food in the brand that my dog prefers so they said they were happy to special order it for me :). Has everything I need for my dog. Prices are higher than Costco or Petco, but it also has higher quality brands (where meat is the first ingredient in kibble or canned food vs. fillers). The staff are super friendly and helpful at this location. read more

I came into Mud Bay a couple days ago because my cat was not eating, rapidly losing weight and looking pretty ill. I wanted to see if I could find some wet cat food that he would be willing to eat and was helped by a young woman who was amazing. She and a co worker heard my concerns and showed me a few different foods that were great for helping a cat gain weight. I was offered several samples which I was pleasantly surprised to find out they did that. My cat was barely touching what they gave me at first though he seemed hungry. It took another day or two of the foods they gave me and he was much healthier looking again and back to waking me up at 3am meowing for breakfast. I think that the food he's been on before (not from Mud Bay) was spoiled and he got sick. I'll be choosing to switch him to one of the fabulous choices they had him sample. read more

Stopped in to ask some questions about cat litter. I had been to the other Mudbay but was wary of this location as it's a busy part of Broadway. They had a parking lot in an insanely busy part of Capitol Hill which made the visit much easier. I was helped by the manager, Sarah. She recommended some cat litter pellets which is what I was interested in, but also showed me the litter she used and totally sold me on it (smart cat litter). It's great: the cat likes it, it doesn't stink up the house, and it's safer without clay and bad stuff. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stop in again! read more

This review is NOT about the store and merchandise offered by Mud Bay but rather an employee that I had the misfortune of running into. I was attempting to buy my dogs food Wednesday night and their chip reader wasn't able to read my debit card. The employee made NO effort to assist me with my purchase. She just stared at me blankly and said "the reader can't read your card". I asked her what she would like me to do, I had just used my card at another store so I knew it wasn't my card. Luckily for me there was another employee behind the counter who offered to key in my account manually and the transaction was fine. Mud Buy is my favorite Seattle pet store, and this new location only brings bigger and better things. I buy all of my cat's food here, most of her toys and treats, too, and have never had a complaint or taken issue with anything. The employees are friendly and attentive, the selection is absolutely phenomenal, and you can actually move around without feeling like you're squished. read more

I find Mud Bay to be a little pricier than other pet stores, and a little less personal than some other small Seattle independents. I like it, and I stop in from time to time when I'm looking for something special or when I need to restock my dog food short notice and can't make a trip to my usual place, but I'm never blown away by prices or selection. That being said, they don't seem to carry bad product, so it's hard to go wrong here. read more

I have never had a bad experience at any Mud Bay locations, and this one is especially pleasant to go to. All the staff are knowledgeable, happy to assist, and most importantly ask specific questions about your pet and their needs that go far beyond "do you use wet or dry food and what's the protein of choice". Doug has helped me on both occasions I've been in and has provided stellar and friendly service! With his help, I found my cat's absolute favorite toy (after an extensive analysis of her play habits/vetting of literally all the options), as well as a wet food that won't upset her delicate stomach. He was also able to make a full return for a window seat my cat was afraid of while another employee only offered store credit (that's fine as well but a full return is preferable). I also appreciate the willingness to provide samples. It's a commitment to buy a $20+ bag of food without knowing if your cat will like it/be able to digest it easily. While Mud Bay has a great return policy, it's easier for everyone if you have the assurance that a food brand will work before committing to the whole package. read more

Great place to get lots of informative information on the do's and don't for a new pet. Staff is super friendly and helpful. They offer you a number of discounts and options for your pet. They are even nice when your just telling them your new puppy hasn't pooped and processes to prove you wrong at that very minute in front of the sales person. read more

If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! Our kitten was sick so I asked a staff member for advice--she gave super helpful advice, a couple of info pages, and "sampled" a few products for free. I left knowing how to take care of my kitty and without paying ANYTHING. She seems to be doing much better now! A five-star review of this Mud Bay location has been long overdue. I feel like the neediest customer when I come in. I need tons of assistance and help with my purchases. I have 5 animals: a blind, senior dog with special needs, a cat suffering from skin issues and food allergies, a naughty cat who is constantly losing his collar, and the list goes on. They are always so friendly and helpful that I would venture to say they have some of the best customer service of any Seattle chain business I have patronized. They have patiently worked with me, exchanging bag after bag of cat food, handing me helpful literature, suggesting supplements and products. I LOVE this store. We just got a new puppy. I needed a few things and decided to check out this store that I've passed numerous times before becoming a puppy parent. I was immediately greeted. I asked for some good training treats and the helpful worker took me to them and explained the various brands. Then he proceeded to tell me about their treat return policy which floored me! Another worker showed me a good shampoo to use. I just loved the customer service and selection. As I was checking out, I was given a little welcome envelope. Nice touch!! read more

Good location, has parking, and a pretty large selection. I stop by here to pick up treats and toys every several months. Just a note, if you buy 12 of more of the same product, like 12 bags of treats or 12 cans of food, you get a 5% discount on those items. Be sure to remind them at the cashier in case they didn't notice. read more

This location is way bigger yet has the same wonderful customer service as the Off Broadway location. They always have the things I need, like dried sweet potato chews or raw knuckle bones, and the worker-bees make useful suggestions. read more

I always try and support local businesses, I'd be heartbroken if mudbay ever went out of business and I was stuck with petco! They have a very generous return policy (similar to REI and nordstrom) the staff is always knowledgable and super friendly. Great selection of natural foods and toys. The Capitol Hill store is very nice. My issue is that I was not familiar with any of their cat food brands. I had a question and needed assistance. I asked a sales person to help, but she said she needed to finish ringing up a customer and could come right back. I waited for 15 minutes for her to come back and she never did. I saw another sales person, but she appeared to be busy talking to other people. I ended up going to PETCO to get the food instead. I'd much rather give a local business my business, but if your too busy to help customers, well then that's how it goes. Get your act together Mud Bay. read more

This place has really friendly smart people working there. they got my cat off of the 'cheap stuff' and now he eats Best Friends Forever cat food. They let me sample out about 7 kinds before we found one he would eat consistently, and that took months and months. Their wild bird suet is VERY cheap and VERY good. It is 99 cent a block instead of $1,59 like in other places, and since the squirrels eat most of it, this is a savings. They also sold me stuff in a tube for him to eat to get him to quit hacking up hairballs; it seems to work and the cat would eat the whole tube in one sitting if I let him. I only wish their regular cat treats were as yummy for my cats at the super cheap ""kitty crack''' that you can get at the grocery store, but you can't have everything. The freeze dried salmon is a huge winner for my cat, though. He will grab the bag and try to carry it off if I don't watch him. The smal orange colored garlic-cheese flavored dog biscuits are a favorite with the dogs I know, and my cat tries to eat them ,too. I bought a dog toy there 5 years ago for a dog I know, the dog is still playing with it, since it i STURDY. read more

I was very impressed on my first visit to the greenwood store. After being tired of paying for expensive foods at pet smart with no support from staff, I decided to stop in at mudbay. I was greeted by a friendly staff member who immediately asked if I needed help finding anything. I explained my kittens issues and she was so knowledgeable offering different options and possible reasons as to why the digestion issues were occurring. I was pleasantly surprised that I found a food that had better ingredients at a cheaper price then the food I was currently buying, with a much better experience!
