Online ordering for in store pick up also recently came out along with local delivery (some locations). This is awesome if you know what you want and just simply want to get in and out! I absolutely love Mud Bay--it always has reasonably price items on the shelves and I love the fact that they have samples for most foods that you'd like your furry friend to try out before purchase (just ask). The bulk dog treat section is a plus---locally made treats your pet can enjoy! I like being able to pick and choose which flavors for my puppers to give them some variety instead of buying a large bag of the same flavored treats. Speaking of treats, I've found a few my dog love that other pet supply stores don't stock. Hidden gems! One of the perks of coming here is that if they don't have something in stock, they can most likely special order it for you! You will get a call/text when your item arrives in store. We love Mud Bay and so does our 115 lb. dog, Cassie! Everyone is super friendly and gives Cassie lots of attention and love when she comes into the store. This week ANNA went above and beyond - Cassie's car harness was not fitting correctly and we were afraid of what would happen if we were in an accident. Anna helped us fit it correctly onto Cassie's chest, then cinched up the straps so it was very solid and protective - SO much different from how we had been putting it on Cassie. These guys really go the extra mile for their customers. As I wrote below, I had a really bad experience previously and they contacted me immediately and made every attempt to make it right. I really appreciate that. I particularly appreciate the genuine interest and care they show to Lhotse. Mudbay will continue to have my loyalty. I've been going to Mud Bay for 3 years solely. I thought they were great. My dog eats Orijen and has for most of his life. He is near the end of his life now at 13. As I write this, this is likely his last bag. For the first time in the years I've been going there, a staff member made a big deal that the Orijen card for the free bag wasn't filled out. Huffing and puffing and grunting while making me wait while she grimaced over filling it out in front of me and telling me how I need to fill it out in the future to get the free bag at least twice. I apologize for my patronage and loyalty. I apologize for spending at least 1400 for dog food there on every 12 bags. I apologize for inconveniencing the store. It won't happen again. Cute pet supply shop! Hubby and I were in the area and, as usual, needed to find a shop to spoil our pup back at home. They have a very good selection of cat and dog supplies, as well as items for other pets, such as rabbits/rodents and reptiles. Prices were fair, and quality of their inventory was pretty good. No Purina here! Clean store, everything was spread out nicely without us feeling too cramped. We could actually walk around the store and browse without feeling myopic. Staff was fine. Helpful when asked questions, and knew what they carried. And, yes, we purchased a few local items here that we can't get back in California. Our pup will be happy! read more

The Mud Bay stores seemed staffed by genuine dog and cat lovers. The stores carry primarily food and treats and the associates seem well trained on canine and feline nutrition basics which puts it in marked contrast to Petco or a general merchandise store like Target and Fred Meyer. What makes it so unique is that they have sections of the store dedicated to the type of "chewer" your dog is. Pretty much they have everything that your dog or cat desires. From pet food, treats, clothing, ice cube trays, collars, and even more! This is a great store to go to if you just got a new family member. Another special thing about the store is that they work with Seattle Humane and give gift certificates to you when you bring your new family member home! This store is the only place we shop for our doggy, Jax! He is a very picky eater, and they have spent so much time with us, showing us the various canned foods, and dry food. They did this with us on a few different occasions. They will sample out 3 cans per visit, so that he can try something new, when he gets bored with his food. I have NEVER had "okay" service, there. Huzzah! There's a Mud Bay in Redmond! This must have opened very recently, as when i moved from Bellevue back in October i checked to see if there was a Redmond store, and did not see one. Right now we don't have as much cause to shop here as we are feeding our cat a prescription diet, but we love this place! I used to shop regularly both at the Oly store and the Bellevue store. I like the people who are (generally) friendly and knowledgable; the products which tend towards being more pet, human, and enviro friendly; and the policies on returning anything that doesn't work right or that your pet won't eat. This is a great pet store, in an area where there are a lot of great pet stores (which I love!). They are accommodating to pets here, and have a very good selection of foods and toys and supplies, at competitive prices. The staff is friendly. They do not have grooming services here as at other larger pet stores, but they are a good resource to find services you might need (i.e., find pet sitters, groomers, walkers, trainers, etc). I'm not sure why this store got "dinged" for not being up on medical conditions and specialized diets. This is not a veterinary office or animal hospital, and the staff don't have medical or specialized degrees. It's a pet store! I wouldn't come here (or to any pet store) looking for medical advice. But if you're in need of pet supplies and nice staff, this is as good a place as any. read more

Just like any other Mud Bay, this location in Redmond is nothing short of 5 stars. Kristine was very sweet and helpful. Panda had a bit of an accident dribbling on the floor. Once in a while it'll happen if I take him to a new pet store he's not familiar with. I hadn't been to this Mud Bay in the Bella Botaga Plaza until now. I was really embarrassed about his accident, but she reassured me that it was no big deal.... Although Mud Bay doesn't always have the largest selection, the service is always unmatched. It is by far my favorite retail chain for all things pet related. They not only hire pet lovers, but just very nice and cordial people in general. I highly recommend this shop. read more

I've been in this location a few times while living in the Redmond/Kirkland area. I always forget that it is here and end up going to Petco. Mud Bay is a local business though, and they sell my dog's food for less than Petco, so whenever I remember, I totally stop in here. My most recent experience though, was the best. The two people working here were super nice, they had 3 dogs of varying sizes in the store(some theirs, and one they were watching for a customer). They were super nice, knowledgeable guys, and we ended up spending 10 extra minutes in here just chatting them up about dogs, video games, etc. I even got to sit and play with the cute doggies! This place may not have as much to choose from, but the staff is awesome, so whenever I am in the area, I will definitely choose Mud Bay over other Pet Supply stores. read more

Pets and children are inseparable, aren't they Zach? I almost never see Isaac and Isaiah without seeing Willie, Kaysen's dalmatian. I had to question the two, but they insisted on getting Willie some dog food. We escorted them to Mud Bay, and I must say, it's a very nice little shop. Most popular brands are not very good for pets. Cat food is notorious for having corn be the prime ingredient. Mud Bay focuses more on health, and so you will find plenty of products that avoid the typical poor quality in pet food. I trust Mud Bay the same way I trust you, Zach. The staff are friendly and willing to work with you. They also stock plenty of other things, like toys, bowls and posts. Letting a cat roam free in here would be like sending them to Disneyland. This location replaced the old Hollywood Video/Game Crazy so you may not notice it at first, it's next to the QFC and a dry cleaner. The staff here is really friendly and helpful and the store is clean with nice wide open space. It's the first Mud Bay I've been to with my dog (I've only had her for two weeks). So far I've bought a mix of treats, a toy, and a walking harness for my dog here and everything worked out great. The toy was a jute crinkler, and although they were right in telling me that my dog would live it, she just chewed through it way too fast. I was able to return it no problem since it only lasted a couple hours. I do wish they would carry some harder bones such as deer antlers or bison bones for really strong chewers. Otherwise the location is convenient for Redmond folks. read more

The Mud Bay store in Redmond is an excellent pet supply store. They carry a wide variety of very high quality pet food and other pet supplies. I'm a very fussy pet owner, but even I can truthfully say that I would not hesitate to feed any of the brands that this store stocks. It is nice not to feel as if I'm navigating a mine field when I'm shopping for pet food-- having to pay attention to every little detail on every bag or can to make sure that there isn't an objectionable ingredient slipped in there, as is so common with the brands you find at the grocery stores and Petco. In addition to simply not carrying anything bad, Mud Bay charges very fairly; the brand of food that I most commonly feed my dog costs less here than at Petco. The staff is friendly and well-informed, and seems to honestly want to be helpful. After discussing my fussy, allergic-to-everything cat with one of the staff members, she let me take home a free can of a brand of food that we hadn't tried yet to see how he would respond to it. My first purchase here was very positive. Our dog just had part of his foot amputated and being very active I wanted to make sure he could get back into hiking and jogging once healed. I'd been looking for dog hiking shoes, checked LL Bean on-line ($70) and found the same ones at REI at the same price. Decided to check Mud Bay and they had the same shoes for $26 less. But after the bandages were removed and we tried them out, it turns out we had the wrong size. Mud Bay exchanged them immediately as they said they would if we had a problem. We were greeted at the door by a member of their very cool staff, who found out what we were specifically hunting for (puppy food for weight gain) and helped me find it in the most low key way possible. The staff members stayed cool as my two dogs swept through the store like a hurricane: overexcited and barking with loud enthusiasm when they saw other dogs, which was constantly because the store was packed. The staff stayed cool when one of my dogs broke her collar and sent her tags flying, helping me locate the lost tags, and helping my daughter control the dog and calm her down while we out everything back together. No problem. All is cool. The store has a fantastic selection of foods to meet every need. I like that they offer local brands and high-quality food and treats, and take care to be knowledgeable about fillers and potential allergens. There's a wonderful treat bar, and a great selection of toys. The price points are certainly above mass-market brands, but there's actually quite a good variety to meet any budget. I appreciated that the staff held items behind the counter as we found them. I also appreciated being given samples of glucosamine chews, to see which kind my older dog would eat before investing in a full bottle. The clerk was so thorough, marking each sample in a separate bag with the brand and correct dosage for his weight. If you love to spoil your pets, you'll love Mud Bay, which way be why we walked out with a huge bag of food, toys, and treats. We'll be back soon - and I promise we'll be better behaved. read more

Amanda the manager really did do me a huge favor by finding a wet food that our cat actually loved! She is very knowledgable and super nice and remembered me the 2nd time I came in to tell her how much out kitty loved the BFF brand, so she even let our cat try a few other different BFF flavors. The other employees are super awesome too and the options available for your kitty or dog regarding food, toys, etc are endless. I came back a 3rd time and finally purchased an entire little box full of BFF packets for our cat and if you buy 12 or more, you get 5% off! Our kitty is so very happy now and is more than grateful when we pour her some of the BFF food into her bowl. She actually licks it clean, she's never done that! I am sorely disappointed by this place. I had heard so many great things and their presentation and marketing is well done. Unfortunately, with the exception of one sales person, every employee I've encountered here has been horrible. A canine close to me was just diagnosed with pancreatitis and already has epilepsy. I was assisting the owner with picking out a new food for him and new more healthful diet in general. I was told Mud Bay had some pretty knowledgeable sales people and a good selection. The latter, sure, definitely NOT the former. The woman who greeted me was nice enough, but it was clear when I mentioned the dog's ailments, that she had no idea what I was talking about. She even stumbled over the word 'pancreatitis' a few times and then later thought I was talking about a diabetic dog. So here's the thing... It's totally okay that you don't know. Yes, I was promised a knowledgeable staff, but nobody knows everything. I didn't know the disease existed and I didn't know that dogs could be epileptic. And I don't expect you to be some enormously learned canine nutritionist. You know what, though? You need to admit when you don't know a thing. Do not guess at what my dog might need if you have absolutely know clue what you're talking about. She started to lead me to popular brands of dog food, based on customer reviews. Umm.. totally not helpful. I had to tell her more than once that I'd just look around on my own and I'd let her know if I needed anything. I was actually really ticked off. I won't fault people for ignorance, but when you're trying to play the expert with a dog's health and ultimately life at stake, then you've stepped way over the line. Luckily, the second woman to step forward was a little better. She knew the store well and she could give me decent reviews of things. She admitted that she didn't know much about pancreatitis, so she actually went to her computer and looked things up. Hey, that's great. Learning experience for both of us. It could only help your career, right? Third experience: I called in to see if they had a particular brand of food. I was put on hold for over 6 minutes (thank you mobile phone call timer). Seriously? Your store isn't that big. I was going to go by today and pick up some low fat treats, since the dog is 90% recovered now, and we want to test some treats on him when he's 100%, but Mud Bay has lost my business. Great little local shop. Went in to find some food for our cats after one of them was diagnosed with allergies. The salesgirl knew exactly what I needed and didn't just blindly grab a Bag and ring me up, but she told me why she picked this brand over the other one. The staff here is so helpful and knowledgeable! Our dog recently began throwing up his dry food and I came in hoping to find a solution. The gal not only redirected my search to something more appropriate for his (apparently) sensitive stomach, but also gave me a breakdown on brands and how to read the labels. She was laid-back and imparted information without dumping it on me. I ended up going with a couple of cans of wet food to test run on the giant, and she also gave me a few dry kibble samples to try. I have nothing short but wow to say about this location. I am a new dog owner and have a brand new Frenchy puppy which required a lot of questions and concerns that I had when I walked into the store. Frenchy's tend to have a lot of allergies and have a lot of dietary restrictions and I honestly had no clue where to begin. That was until I came in to this location and was welcomed with nothing less than happiness and positivity and loads of knowledge. I forget the name of the girl who helped me but she did an amazing job. Not only did she answer every single question I had but also gave me a lot more information and made me a lot less nervous about my little ones dietary needs. I went in knowing nothing and left with more knowledge than I would have ever imagined. And it wasn't just her that helped me, everyone in the store gave input as well. However she was the one who walked around the store with me and explained every single part including treats, like when he would be old enough to have certain treats the different types of dog food And so much more. I can honestly go on and on about how amazing my experience was but then we would be here forever. I just wanted to write this review to let others know whether you're a new dog owner or looking for healthier options for your little furry friend or have any questions or concerns or anything you're not sure of and looking for food and treats that are natural and extremely good for your pet and looking for people that actually care about your pets health and not caring about getting a check from a dog food company then this is the place to go.
