I switched to Der Pet Haus from another dog groomer about 6 months ago. I've been very pleased. My dog is an older dog and they always seem to be very aware. Also, the other place I went to asked me every single 6week cut how I wanted him groomed. It was exceptionally annoying. Here they evidently have some notes in their computer, because they just ask if we're doing the same thing and I reply "yes". After we picked our dog up, we found that they had cut our dog's nail quick . They didnt tell us anything about this during pick up but just said "She did great". When we found out later in the car, I called them about that. The guy responded: "This is normal and happens ***all the time*** because the dogs move and you can't necessarily see the quick" he also said "if the dog is not currently bleeding in your car, then it's ok.". ***I am not exaggerating even a bit here. Moved to Bellevue and was looking for a groomer. Gave this spot a try because of its good reviews. But they did a poor job with cutting/dremeling and trimming pad paws. My 20lb corgi went in for a few minutes - i went to my car out in front to make sure the door was locked and came back and she was already coming out? They said she was done. And i went to inspect once we got into the car and it was very poor work, I'm talking some nails were long, all nails were sharp and not dremeled and trimming her pads were choppy. I didn't think about getting pictures but finding another groomer. I don't bother going back in and arguing, it seems pointless since they knew the poor work and handed her over anyways. read more

It comes in so handy, especially when working from home as someone who has meetings randomly interspersed throughout the day Service has always been fast and friendly and the store gives me a local community vibe which I love I always meet the nicest fellow pet parents there who exchange reassuring experiences or funny stories! We're usually in and out in under 10 minutes, honestly even 5, so I don't have to leave the store to randomly wander. Ambiance is what you'd expect of a groomers, sad dogs and happy dogs all around. Pricing wise, it's $20 for a nail trim, an extra $5 for a paw shave, and I'll tip 20%/$5 for a total of $30. My corgi has never let me trim his nails without a fight, despite every form of socialization and treats out there, so I'd rather spend the $30 and get things done as quick as possible for my sake and his! I've witnessed minor accidents like cuts happen before, which is normal with anxious animals, but the staff are always quick to address the issue, treat the animal, inform the owner, and let them know that should the pet need medical attention that they'll foot the bill. After going to Der Pat Haus for well over 10 years, I was shocked at two employee's behavior today. It was a classic case of workplace bullying. The customer and the employee were not wearing masks. When I called out the behavior the Der Pet Haus employee ( still not wearing a mask ), began to argue with me. Then she left and came back again to tell me "there's no mask law...it's a mandate." Huh? Regardless of my comments to another customer, why does this employee feel the need to defend her customer and attempt to bully and embarrass me? The employee does need some basic coaching on creating a positive mindset in the workplace. The Der Pet Haus employee thinks she can bully other people in her workplace. And she twisted the truth, to defend her "right to not wear a mask inside Der Pet Haus." Wow! Reasonably priced. I took my 8 month Samoyed pup here for her first bath, nail trim and foot and sanitary trim. They did precisely as I asked, no unwanted trimming, and her coat was silky and fluffed out, not stripped, as I'd asked. It took the whole afternoon, since they do the dogs in steps with little rests for the dog. What I was most impressed by was the fact that I explained it was her first time being groomed, and she had previously been trying to mouth my hands when I tried to hold her paws and I was concerned she might nip. Not only did they report no problems, when she returned home, and every day since, she has allowed me to hold her paws with no reaction! How the heck did they do that??!! I'm delighted. read more

We've been coming here for the past several years, but sadly we will not be returning. Our dog's haircut always looks good but today when picking him up, I witnessed something I really wish I hadn't. One of the groomers (an older woman with glasses and shoulder-length dark brown/black hair), was grooming another dog while I was waiting to pick ours up. Thank God she is not the one who groomed our dog. I watched her roughly grab the dog's front leg, stretch it out beyond what looked natural or comfortable, and continue to groom him. Meanwhile, the dog was loudly wincing/whining (in what I presume was pain from having its leg stretched too far). She then yelled "stop it!" in the dog's face (multiple times, and loud enough for me to hear over several dogs barking), and proceeded to smack him on the nose (it didn't seem too hard, but any form of hit delivered to a dog that is clearly uncomfortable and scared is completely unacceptable if you ask me). I was appalled. She then did the same exact thing with his other leg. Yelling wouldn't normally be something I'd really think twice about (and I'm sure being surrounded by barking dogs all day gets old)... but because it was accompanied by other concerning actions/behavior, I was quite disturbed by it. I'm not claiming to be an expert in dog grooming or proper technique, but what I saw today really didn't sit well with me... enough for me to create a Yelp account to write this review. It seems I am not the only one who has noticed the unnecessary "manhandling" of pups, either. Our dog is absolutely terrified of baths/grooming, and though I can't say with certainty that he's ever been treated in the way I witnessed today, I also can't imagine that being stuck in an environment where such treatment of animals is allowed to occur has done him any favors in the anxiety department. Save your $ (and your peace of mind) by finding another groomer. read more

Absolutely cannot recommend this groomer. Here are pictures of injuries sustained in the last grooming session. Take date and time stamped pictures of your dog prior to the appointment. You will need the proof if something happens. They left me a voicemail on my way home that our girl had skin infections? Why not inform me immediately when you found them? You didn't because they are clipper burns. Also, claimed they didn't inform me when I picked her up because the lobby was crowded. I was the only one in the lobby? Did take her to the Veterinary the very next day. Their examination said our girl's injuries were clipper cuts. She also acted very traumatized after the grooming session and was very withdrawn that evening. Attempted to talk to the owner the next morning after the vet examination. He was extremely combative and rude. Didn't care about reviewing the vet report. Never once said I am sorry about what happened and can we do something better the next time. Check the other reviews and you will see a pattern. They consistently don't inform owners of the injuries they caused or simply lie and blame the owner. The owner of Der Pet Haus is combative and rude to the customers when they are asking for an explanation. Absolutely stay away from this place. Expensive, your dog is there all day grooming tends to be uneven. The groomers that work there seem to be under a lot of pressure. Definitely signs they are overbooking. read more

I posted a review on 9/20/21 about my tiny 5 pound poodle coming home from being groomed and crying and developing black (bloody) stool. She also start throwing up blood. I did hear back from Carol, the groomer and was told my pup was happy there and nothing happened. My vet prescribed some med to help with the bloody stool. My pup was still walking funny and then start screaming in agonizing pain when I even touched her neck. I finally was able to get into Seattle Veterinary Services Emergency . I mentioned her leg to them. Her leg was exrayed and it was discovered her shoulder was pulled out of its socket and there's no way to help my poor pup except surgery. With the shortage of vets and surgeons, I don't even have a consultation appointment until the first part of November. Meantime my poor pup is on numerous meds to help control the pain, which doesn't help. When her shoulder pops out of socket she just screams and holds her leg up until it goes back into position. My pup was in excruciating pain for 3 weeks before her dislocated shoulder was discovered. Too me hurting a animal and not telling the owner, knowing the animal is and will be in excruciating pain is nothing short of animal cruelty. There's no way that Carol can claim ignorance that my pup was not hurt. Having your shoulder pulled out of its socket has to cause anyone to scream and I'm sure she did. I still don't know if my pup fell off the table, fell out of her cage or had her leg pulled on so hard that her shoulder popped out of its socket. Thinking about Der Pet Haus and their so called reputation for great groomers makes me nauseated. Sure they have great groomer but they run a production line. They also have their express service. You pay 20% more on top of their high fee and your pup doesn't have to stay in a cage for 6 hours like all the other pups. Money talks. I did text Carol, the groomer recently and informed her of my pups condition. I advised her to inform Keith, the owner so he could alert his insurance. I have heard nothing back from either of them. read more

Owner would not provide any compensation or refund after I spent hours trying to get bleeding to stop.. also my 5th dog so I know how to stop the bleeding but this was ridiculous. The worst part of it was they didn't even finish the haircut. They claimed that he was being violent and threatened to sue us. We have taken our dog to many groomer and in fact to this place many times and never had this complaint. Later on we found a whole bundle of cotton shoved deep in his ear. No wonder he was aggravated. We will never be going back to this place, since they hire very unprofessional groomers. I have discovered there were black spots on my poodle's back on the left side twice after grooming and don't know what it is. My dog won't let me touch it and it went from the spot to a scar like texture and later healed as normal skin. Plus my dog refused to go there and is shaking everytime she gets there. Don't know why. Been there for almost 2 years, maybe it's time for a better change After reading the other review, I am not going back!
