We attended puppy play last Saturday and our pup was the only one there. Diane mentioned she had considered calling us to let us know, but for her own "selfish reason" wanted to spend time playing with a Golden Retriever puppy -- which, honestly, we appreciated. She was charming, transparent, and we truly enjoyed her energy and approach. She also shared that the Kirkland puppy play had just restarted and they're still trying to spread the word. We reserved again for this Saturday and I called ahead, asking the store manager (Ted) to please have Diane call me if our puppy ends up being the only one again, as that defeats the purpose of puppy play and socialization. Unfortunately, Ted was not particularly accommodating or customer-oriented. He stated she likely wouldn't call because she teaches classes all morning. When I explained that Diane had almost done so the previous week, his response was, "It's free!!" -- which felt dismissive. While it may be complimentary, our time still has value, and the goal is structured social interaction with other puppies. After some back-and-forth, he did take my number to relay the message, though it felt reluctant. We understand puppy play can serve as an introduction to training services -- and we are genuinely considering signing up. We really like Diane's approach. However, customer experience matters, and interactions like this do influence our decision about where to invest in training. read more

Disgusting filthy store, unorganized and looks like a storage ! Dirty !! My first and last time here ! ! went there to buy loads of dog stuff, dog food , dog crate dog collar , bed and to make a new dog name tag in their machine. I had picked up my stuff and I asked where the tag making machine is and the associate who was casually just chit chatting with another careless associate said I can't let you use it because it is located in the dog training area and today we are training dogs and we do this 2 times a week! So they crate up the area and the machine is located in there 2 times a week 2 full days not usable! What a customer service and what a way to lose new customers !!! They had take up half the store to make money off training and blocked off bunch racks and that machine ...I put every thing down and left and never going back to this filthy petco read more

So glad to have this small Petco in my neighborhood. It is our go-to pet store. They have a good selection of items and you can order online and pick up in store or have curb-side pick up. Our dog, Cody, loves shopping here. His favorite employee is Dina, they have a special bond :-), but he loves getting spoiled by whoever is minding the store. read more

Worst experience I have ever had with Petco. I have been coming to Petco for years and have vital care premier that I pay for monthly. I was told the liter I picked was not valid for that (but have been using the same liter for years) he argued with me about. When I told him I would just never come back to this location he said "I'm the store manager I think I know what I'm talking about". Uhmm clearly not since I've been buying this same liter with 20% at every location but this one. His energy was ick and I'll never return there. read more

It's a great place if you want your ferrets healthy and taken care of! We purchased a sick ferret and they took extremely good care of him and took him to get a checkup ASAP. My only problem was the manager wasn't paying much attention to the situation and I called in repeatedly to ask how he was doing and when we could pick him up. We missed him very dearly and we wanted to pick him up as soon as we could. We were told a date, however, when someone who was actually taking care of him picked up we were told we could pick him up the day we called! Petco - Two healthy boys - Pet Stores Near Me - Kirkland, Washington

First off, note that these are not pictures of the actual location. This location is much much smaller and older looking. We've pretty much stopped coming here due to the changes that they had to make because of COVID-19. Unfortunately their changes and decisions have made the dog wash unreliable and a frustrating experience. First off they "temporarily" changed hours a 7 months ago which makes it harder for us to get in. I mean is it really a "temporary change" after 7 months? These reduced hours make it harder to get into use the dog wash as well because each person is given 30-minutes to use the dog wash. Add that with the fact that they're only allowing one dog/owner at a time and you end up limited to just a few dogs a day that can use the dog wash. There's also no way to call ahead and make a reservation or anything. So your only option is to drive to the store and hope that there's not already someone using the dog wash or else you're stuck waiting for anywhere from 30-minutes to god-knows-when as it's first come first serve. We used to like this place because it was convenient and the employees were friendly. Unfortunately the convenience factor is no longer there and the store is so small that with the reduced hours they're just trying to cram too many people into a small crowded space at a time. read more

Stopped after a trip to the dog park to give my dog a bath. I haven't been there for a while, but it must be under new management, as I have had good service prior to today. I first had to wait for them to clean a tub, and I was fine with that. As I start to wash my dog, there is no hot water, and in fact, the water is ice cold! I keep looking for someone to come check on me as there were three people working and no one else in the store. Finally, I yelled out for help. My dog was in the tub, so I could not leave her. I kept yelling, still trying to wash my dog with the cold water as she was covered in soap. Finally, I was almost done when I yell out again and a worker shows up. I asked her if she had heard me and she just nodded. I said, the water is freezing cold, and her reply was it does that sometimes but the person who knows how to fix it was not there! What? Why would you let me start the wash if you know this? I rinsed off my dog as best I could, and she was shivering, dried her with the tiny, pathetic excuse of a towel, and tried to clean up as best I could. As I left, they did offer me a refund, but I told them to keep the money but that I will never go there again. Worst customer service ever. read more

We did the puppy training at Petco and could not have been happier! We did Puppy 1 and Puppy 2 and Dena is truly the best. We tell everyone we can about her. She's patient and attentive and answered any questions we had and she taught our dog so much. Seriously, if you're thinking about taking your dog to the petco training classes you have to take her classes. I sincerely can't recommend her enough. read more

This petco is small so it doesn't offer a lot of the services available at larger stores, but everyone is so friendly and helpful. We really enjoy coming here. My dog hates baths, but he gets so muddy at the park that he needs one. We used the pet wash stations, and while $15 seems steep, it was so nice not to worry about clean up, and we got as many towels as we needed! read more

There was 3 guys working and they were all so nice! I'm actually a little embarrassed to admit my kitty has flees. The first two guys I interacted with were really helpful with suggestions but didn't linger or make me feel pressed to buy anything. The last guy at the cashier made a joke about getting hit with the "spring flees" and made me feel so much better! Knowing I'm not the only person struggling to get rid of those pesky bugs. A new pet store that sells quality products for our pets right near our house? SCORE! I noticed Unleashed by Petco a couple times on my way to Safeway. I wondered what this store was and just figured it was a smaller version of Petco, which it is, but it seems to be all of their "natural" or "healthier" products. They have a lot of deals and coupons going on since they just opened. They also have a self-wash station in the back of the store. Normally it's $10 to wash your dog (or cat I guess, if you wish), but for the month of March, on Sat/Sun's it's only $5!!! They provide the soaps and dryer, you just bring the dog and your dog-washing excitement. This is great if you don't clog your shower with doggy hairs and don't feel the need to drop a bunch of $ for a dog groomer. Staff were really friendly and helpful. One of the employees hung out with me while I perused the cat treats and we had some good laughs. They're great. I'm excited to have this shop just down the street from our house. read more

Pet lovin dudes and dudettes out there... what a great place this is! Smaller than the "big box" version - but soooo much cozier - less overwhelming (25 varieties of each and every item can boggle the brain, you know? ) Great overall selection and the mind blowing part for me personally was the awesome customer service! You kidding me?! The staff was friendly, enthusiastic, smiling, knowledgeable and humble all at the same time. Is that even possible? Yes. Says me. I saw it first hand! Used the pet wash here today! It was very clean, very convenient - better and easier than washing our dog at home. There are towels, wash scrubs, shampoo and blow dryer! All for $10, no time limit! We paid at the cashier after we are done. Just a small note: do not bring your own grooming tool ( electric trimmer/ razors) as it is not allowed. The staff are very friendly. They tidy up and clean the place after u wash your pet. They are very prompt at doing so! We went on a Sunday , so the parking lot was quite full. It will be wonderful if they would come up with a pet wash rewards system ( buy 9 washes and get the 10th one free?) looking forward to our next visit! read more

Unleashed by petco is perhaps the best idea around for pet shops. It combines the organic, small, high end pet shops for cats and dogs, with the affordability and selection of petco. Some people may not like this kind of shop because it is "to chain-ey", and I quote. However, this is not true. Just because this store is a chain doesn't mean the quality is bad. Yes, I do admit that the quality of the product at Unleashed is not as high quality as somewhere like all the best, but the quality is better than petco itself. What makes Unleashed better than those organic nonsense stores is the fact that the prices are so much more down to earth. Also, that aren't just cats or dogs, they specialize mostly in cats and dogs, but they also have small mammal, bird and reptile sections. Another plus--- the employees are some of the nicest you'll meet. read more

For $10 you can use all the shampoo you need, spend as much time washing your dog and they clean up after you! Although, I left the area better than I left it...I think this is a great idea! The self wash was dirty, broken equipment, watered down shampoo & conditioner, no plates to lift small dogs up so your not on your knees bathing them, and towels so old & thread bare that made my 10 year old underwear look brand new. I am a regular customer of the store on 100th and this place was horrid compared to it. 100th has better service, equipment, and staff. Maybe it is in such bad condition because you want customers to use the grooming saloon instead of the self wash? You really should be ashamed of the condition of this area in your store! read more

Five stars are for the amazing and genuine customer service I have received every single time I have walked into the store. I was in a rush late this afternoon and needed to get a cat carrier. The manager on duty was incredibly gracious and helped me choose the right size, even put it together for me with the hinges and gate. The selection of pet supplies is fine, a bit more pricey than I am used to spending for my 15-year-old cat, but the customer service is what keeps bringing me back. I wish to goodness I could remember the manager's name, but he was there on a Thursday afternoon :-) Thanks for always being so helpful! read more

We have a small dog and wanted to spend less money on grooming and baths at the store, so I had researched about self-serve pet washes and came across Unleashed. Nice shop with great staff. Everything you needed for a bath was there including towels, shampoo, conditioner, and dryer. The price is great coming in at 10.00! I really have nothing more to say! read more

My boyfriend and I just adopted our puppy named Bruce. I brought him in to get him cleaned up. The staff starting from Alex the cashier to the tall blonde male with glasses that helped me set up the shower to the other male with brown hair that brought over treats to calm Bruce down. I called at early afternoon today and asked if they have self-serve dog wash stations. Spoke with the Manager Courtney who was quite friendly on the phone, gave me all of the info. I asked how late they're open and she told me 7pm. I show up at 6:17 and she tells me they closed them early because they're "short staffed". I find that hard to believe since the store was empty and two employees are sitting (literally) and doing absolutely nothing. I said that I called earlier and asked how late I could come in and was told they're there until 7. She said "that was me that you talked to, we close the wash stations at 6:30". First of all, she never said anything about 6:30. Second I said it isn't even 6:30 yet. She goes "yes like I said we closed them early because we're short staffed." It's a self-serve dog wash so first of all what does stuff have anything to do with it? It's a small store with absolutely no customers, between two employees who have time to sit there and do absolutely nothing I'm sure one of them could charge me the fee and hand me the bucket of shampoo. I've been in this location once and wasn't too pleased with it. This is the first time I've come for dog washing and it will be the absolute last. read more

They price matched a sale price for the cone from their website and helped me look it up even as they were closing. Admittedly, I don't really buy anything from here except the unlimited time dog wash. This is one of the most affordable dog washing stations around and it comes with all the goodies (shampoo, towels, brushes, etc.). I really like this store. Just rescued a pup of my own and have been in here 3 times in the last week! Pros: - off-shoot of Petco makes (some) prices more affordable - good selection of leashes, collars - lots of food to choose from, if you need some - knowledgeable staff - they helped me make sure the fit on pups collar was good - ENGRAVED DOG TAGS (or cat tags); I was searching for a stainless steel double sided engraged dog tag that wouldn't cost a fortune or take weeks to arrive; they have this GREAT little machine; You simply pick out the dog tag you like (they have many styles), pay for it at the register, log into the engraving machine, use the touch screen to arrange your information on the dog tag and choose the font, etc, and then the machine engraves it for you! I am so happy with new dog tag - good selection of anything you might need - I plan on returning next weekend to give my pup a bath (self serve pet bathing for 10$) - location = close to me - make sure you look in the back at the dog toy SALE section :) Cons: - some prices are steep - didn't carry a few items I needed I will be back! There is a young gentleman who works in the fish department who is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about all things aquaria. He is delightful to talk with and helpful in selecting just the right fish. I bought fish numerous times over the summer and always had a great experience here. I'm an experienced aquarium owner who normally goes to specialty shops, so I was pleasantly surprised by the knowledge and selection here. I also appreciated that there was no problem getting a replacement for one fish who didn't withstand the stress and died w/I 24 hours (hey, it happens). The only reason I only gave 4 stars is because the checkout line often seems to take longer than it should. That said, I have a different review for their dog grooming service. It didn't take too many questions before I understood that the groomers condescending rudeness was a cover for complete lack of knowledge. I was asking for someone with specific experience grooming my breed (I have two Spinoni) and was told "We don't have people here who only work on a single breed". Um, of course not. I clarified that I'm asking for a groomer who has worked with a double coated hunting dog which requires experience stripping a rough coat. I further clarified that I specifically need help shaping the coat and the face (which should take about 1-2 hours). The groomer said, "yes we know how to work on that breed and cuts start at 90/hr". I said, "Cut? A Spin's coat is never cut, but hand stripped. It's okay to use a stripping knife and thinning shears on the face only, but no clippers." The woman looked at me like I was the clueless one, when obviously she had no idea about the breed standards and couldn't be bothered to simply ask me what I wanted or expected. She sneered at me and said "We don't do that here" and then dismissed me. Absolutely unprofessional. And I'd never trust my dogs to someone who is unwilling to learn (or even ask) about the needs of that breed. So there's the good, the okay, and the bad of my experience with the Kirkland petco. Oh, and to leave on a positive note, when I've called with questions about what they have in stock, they have been very helpful and looked up with they had and didn't have on hand. Im really disappointed in this place. The facility is great, clean, and the dog wash is awesome! The staff is very friendly but they have poor communication skills amongst themselves and with customers. I take my large dog there once every couple weeks for a self wash. About a month ago I was told by the staff that they would not charge me extra to wash my small 5lb dog in the same tub / at the same time as my larger dog. Which was great! However, today at the self wash I was charged for both dogs.. I explained to the gal at the front counter that I was told different previously but she charged me anyways. It's frustrating when the customer has to pay for the mistakes of the staff. On another note about 7 or 8 months ago when I adopted my larger dog, I went to this store to buy some food, toys, and treats. One of the employees had recommended getting my dog a SPLIT deer antler. I was hesitant and asked him if my dog could possibly break off pieces while chewing it. He said no and reassured me that the split deer antlers were super safe, so i went ahead and bought it. Later that night my dog had split off multiple pieces and swallowed it. I had to take him to emergency that night where I racked up over $100 bill. I take some responsibility in this situation, I should had been watching my dog more closely while he was chewing on the antler & I shouldn't have taken advice from someone who works at a pet store. But rather should have talked to my vet about it (which later said the split deer antlers are not safe for dogs). I think this pet store has cost me enough in bills so I'll be finding a new place to go. read more

I took my 85 lb lab for a bath in the self-wash station. My dog was quite anxious once we got in the store, which is totally normal for him. This happens in all pet stores. When he smells the dog smells, etc, he recognizes that some type of grooming situation is coming. He hates, hates, HATES baths. The staff recognized he was anxious and they were immediately accommodating. They offered him treats to calm him down and had him wagging his tail in no time. They remained the perfect level of involved in the process - walked me to the self-wash area; helped me lift my big, anxious dog into the tub (he refused to jump in even though he is completely capable of doing so); walked me through a couple things; and then left me to it. The self-wash area had 4 or 5 stations and had everything you would need. It was nice and clean until my dog did the post-bath shake (after getting out of the tub) and managed to get 1/4 of the room wet. I felt a little bad leaving it that way, but the staff insisted. I'm sure they had it spic and span in no time - which I guess is the reason we go to Unleashed vs. washing the dog at home. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Overall, great customer service!! And, you can't beat the $5 special. It's normally $10 and that's still a great deal and well worth it. read more
