We hired Cold Noses Dog Training for 2 services: Dog training for our rescue mutt from Turkey named Willow, and house/puppy sitting for both Willow and our Goldendoodle Summer. Covid: Beth has been fully vaccinated. She adheres to social distancing, and was double masked at each of our sessions. Dog Training: Having been found alone in a forest, it was very evident that Willow had never had any training, nor had he ever had a family. He is very fearful of people, and gets very confused when training. Beth was incredibly patient with our little guy and helped guide him in a very assertive, but kind manner. By the 3rd time, Willow completely loved and trusted Beth and allowed her to pet him, which is HUGE, given that he doesn't let anyone touch him! While we had some of the basics down with our 7 month old pup Stella, we knew we needed more 1:1 advice for some nagging issues such as jumping up on counters, grabbing socks and towels all the time, and most importantly, her fear of riding in the car. I reached out to Beth and she immediately replied and we scheduled a phone consult. Right away she gave us some advice to prevent things from getting worse, not to mention she went through a full assessment of where Stella was at with various training and potty behavior. We really appreciated that since things we might not have recognized as red flags were brought to our attention so we could nip them in the bud. Over the course of our three in-person sessions, we learned so much about what to do when Stella jumps up or tries to steal something, and she started us on a path to behavior modification for the car rides. We're already seeing improvements in some of these behaviors and recognize that consistency and repetition is what will set us up for long term success. The Story of Beth and Wonderful Winston: Winston is a 5mo old labradoodle. He, like most puppies, has had some bladder control issue, some light biting, jumping, tough leash walking, and more. We had tried some purchased online videos for training him, but didn't have much luck. We found Beth through Yelp/Google and thought we would try training in person to see if more direct help would yield better results. When Beth aka Mary Poppins showed up at our door, everything changed. Here's a few of the ways in which she helped the medicine go down: -She's extremely friendly, easy to talk to, easy to schedule with, and is over all accommodating to what is needed. -She always showed up at our house on time, stayed as long as was needed that day (sometimes 10-15min longer then the appt.) to make sure the techniques being taught that day were understood by all. -Not only does she teach you certain commands, but she knows the balance between teaching them when they're doing something wrong, praise, and treats. She even gave us praise and understood all the stress we had been going through. She's extremely understanding and patient. -After that day's session, she sends AMAZING notes to recap what was discussed. Do not ignore these notes. Memorize these notes, love these notes. They are your ongoing tool to doing this right! Everyday when she showed up, class was in session for all of us. We're all students of hers. She taught us potty training techniques, stay, heel, and more. I say us, because Winston learned just as much as we did. Beth started calling him Wonderful Winston, which isn't a surprise as she's a very caring, attentive, and thoughtful person, and instantly felt like part of our puppy journey. She will give you feedback, tips, recommendations, and guidance. Don't ignore any of this. Do as she asks, and good things will come to you and your puppy. When she left, as soon as she arrived, it was like Mary Poppins was leaving us. None of us wanted to see her go. Beth is just fantastic. She has a thoughtful, gentle and methodical approach to dog training. During her working sessions, she incorporates plenty of good humor and kindness with her demonstrations and instructions. In our case, I was afraid dog training would be stressful, due to the behavioral areas that needed to be addressed with our pup. But Beth made it fun! It was challenging, because she ensures that you as the owner are highly involved in the training. But the challenge also enriched us. We learned a ton. We only had three sessions with Beth, but we saw immediate improvement as soon as after session one. Each one was highly valuable in their own way. She covers everything. I almost never write reviews but Beth is in a class of her own. We rescued a Belgian malinois puppy and reached out to Beth for some help training our super busy, family addition. Scheduling with Beth was very easy, her first visit is to your home so that she can help you solve all the issues you deal with on a daily basis (for us it was chewing our kids toys, jumping on the couch, nipping, jumping) all the puppy stuff. Like the other reviews have described, Beth is a wonderful trainer and person. She has a warm energy and our dog really loved working with her. We called Beth when we were anxious new puppy parents (had our puppy for 4 days at the time) and Beth was totally gracious in guiding us to be more prepared and confident puppy parents. Like others have described, Beth practices the skills with you in the training session, and then provides you with detailed notes after the session to follow/ refer back to later. Usually it takes Latte about a day or so to warm up to other humans, but when Beth first met Latte, she used love and wonderful trainning techniques to have a close relationship with Latte in less than thirty minutes. I can't even begin to describe how happy my husband and I are with the dog training services we received from Beth!
