Food looks good but lacks of flavor. I ordered pupusas and they were so flat I ate one because I was super hungry. But not much flavor. Very little filling. We also ordered a caldo which was small plate for the price. And the yuca with chicharrón again no flavor and more salad than meat and yuca.

Carne Asada plate

Came with a friend, service was nice, parking was limited and it was very busy. Guatemalans seem to love this place but regrettably my food was just plain bland! Had to add salt and pepper to the steak just to make palatable. The beans were the best part of the plate. I won't fully judge the place for one place but I wasn't impressed after one visit. Might be willing to come back, or I might be forced to come back and hopefully the next visit will be a much better experience overall. Great people there but I'm there for food!

I love this place and can't believe it was my first time here! I'm Guatemalan-American and extremely proud of my roots, so when I found out there was a Guatemalan restaurant near me, I had to try it! The inside was very nostalgic for me. It reminded me of my childhood and the pride my mother has for the motherland. Just like that, the decor made me feel at home. The food was good, only bad part was the steak is a bit fatty/ chewy for my liking but overall I enjoyed my Plato tipico. The Guatemalan flags were literally the cherry on top. They are quite busy on the weekend, so be prepared to wait a bit. They managed to seat us in less than 15 minutes. I thought the American breakfast was a great idea and my husband opted to try it, but you can never go wrong with an original meal aka Plato tipico. ;) Don't forget to support local vendors. :D I can't wait to come back and try the whole menu.

Dead fly in omelette

I keep trying to give this spot a chance but after this last order - I'm done. In the past, the Guatemalan tamales have been really bad. Like uncooked bad. But it was Christmas time so I moved on with my life and stopped ordering them from here. I crave Guatemalan breakfast food from time to time because it's bomb but honestly, the ladies at the front counter are rude so I legit ask my guy to go in and grab the order. Well I got the steak omelette to-go and while eating it at home I noticed something, inside the omelette, on the peppers is a dead fly. I can't with this spot.

This place never lets me down! I came here for the first time about 2 months ago when they were offering dining inside. This time around they had a really nice outside seating all inside a tent. The waitress was beyond any restaurants expectation and clearly cared for our experience!! She was very attentive and making sure the food was up to our expectation. I ordered their Antojito macha and boy was I I'm for a Guatemalan ride full of typical food. I literally felt as if I was eating in Guatemala It offered a little sampler of the most well known Guatemalan typical food. I took my grandmother and she 100% approved of their delicious and authentic food. Their garnachas and tamales de Chipilin are a super B and strongly recommend. Not to mention their Guatemalan Orchata!!!

The food here is amazing, y'all definitely need to try their breakfast plate! It's so delicious it's sunny side up eggs, rib eye meat, longaniza, fried plantains with beans and a choice of cream or cheese. Yummy! Also the orange juice is freshly squeezed so it's so refreshing and very good! It does get busy but the wait isn't that bad. There's also a lot of parking near the restaurant.

Family owned open for 23 years, this little gem in Shadow Hill is amazing. Walking in you don't feel like you're in California but in some country side in the south. Shadow Hill is a horse town so it's definitely giving the south. Anyways I digress... I got the steak and eggs with a muffin on gravy and my friend got the country fried steak with pancakes. We also got sourdough bread with butter on the side. Emily our waitress was very nice, sweet and attentive and so was everyone else. From the time we placed our order, it didn't take long when we got our food. The food was cooked to perfection and tasted fresh. I will say they had a pretty good selection for breakfast, that also included Mexican/Tex mix breakfast. We will definitely be coming back to try their lunch. If I had to rate this place it would be 9 out of 10. If you're in the 818 area please be sure to visit this spot. Side bar muffin and gravy so good and the pancakes were amazing they were so fluffy and the syrup was delicious not too sweet. You can tell there are a lot of regulars that come in, the vibes was definitely friendly and family oriented. Please note that it is cash only and if there's no parking in the front or side there's additional parking in the back.

I got the Sweet Temptation French toast. This was delicious. The Dulce de Lèche was rich, but balanced out with the acidity from the strawberries. The French toast was exactly as you would imagine, cooked well and had a nice flavor. The French toast came with a side of eggs, meat, and potatoes. I chose over medium eggs, bacon, and hash browns. My eggs were cooked right, the bacon was crispy without being brittle, and the hash browns were perfect. Definitely worth it! My friends got the Very Berry French toast and the Chilaquiles Divorciados. They both said theirs were delicious as well. The ambience of the restaurant is clean and nice. There's seating indoors and outdoors, we chose to eat inside. The waiter checked on us a few times to make sure we were still doing okay, and we never felt rushed. Overall, I would definitely recommend Cafe De Olla. I'll be back to try their other menu items (:

Add the crema and you've been transported to another world. Staff was super nice and had our order ready when promised. See pics. Delicious. Hearty. But not so heavy that I was in a food coma. Hot sauce was provided but didn't need it as the flavors of the ingredients were enough to satisfy my taste buds. Service was decent as well. It could be that we were seated close to the register so that the staff could see if we needed or wanted something. Refills without asking - even continued with the refills after we were just sitting catching up. This was with people waiting for a table. I felt a little guilty but the staff didn't mention anything so we just hung out. It's a diner feel, with both indoor and outdoor seating. A large group can fit but I believe its first come, first served so I'd try to make it early so tables can be configured for the group.
