The 2 things I have to say is their location is perfect in the middle of southlake. But hard to find parking on street, but garage is only a block away. And their service by our waitress was one of the best in some time. There's really nothing bad on any of the food, other than the portion and lack of anything distinctive to say I can't wait to come back again. We tried Muchacho's tonight and it was really good! The wait to get in was about 45 minutes, but it was definitely worth it. I had the Ahi Tuna Taquitos and these things were small but mighty! They were seriously the tiniest little tacos, but they delicious. I would absolutely order them again as my meal because they were that good. The sauce that came with them was amazing and really tied everything together. My husband ordered the Suadero tacos and they were delicious too. The flour tortillas were on point, the brisket was cooked perfectly, and everything inside worked really well together. The borracho beans on the side were also great. We lucked out with a beautiful Texas spring evening and got seats on the patio, which we really enjoyed. It's a cute patio with super comfortable chairs, and it's a great spot to watch the passerby's. Service started a little slow, but once we ordered the food came out quickly and everything tasted so delicious. This was the third time we have visited and just as good as the first. We sat in the patio on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Arrived just in time for the happy hour 2-6 EVERY DAY! Muchacho is spacious with rustic charm, located directly behind Cheesecake Factory. We were immediately seated and started with the lunch dip sampler which comes with queso and guac. Not my favorite queso, kinda basic in taste but the guacamole was some of the best I've ever had and I surprisingly really enjoyed the pepitas on top. I decided on the angus flap steak and chicken breast fajitas and sis ordered the picadillo hard shell tacos. That fajita sizzle always gets me amped and these looked especially good along with the accoutrements I was ready to dig in. I will say, the quality of the fajita meat was great, tender, moist but unfortunately lacked flavor, they were good but not great and for the price($24) I expected way more. My sis said her tacos were passable but again nothing great. I ordered a tres leches to go but as I write this review about 2 weeks after I visited Muchacho , I honestly don't remember how it tasted so do with that what you will. Chili con carne usually comes with cheap salty or bland ground beef chili...this had smoked brisket! Nuff said. My husband and I love Mexican food, and we decided to go to Muchacho for lunch while we were at Southlake Town Square running some errands. We were very pleased with our visit! The service is excellent and the food delicious! Their complimentary chips and salsa are probably the best that we have ever eaten! They offer daily happy hour specials from 2pm to 6pm that feature some of their signature drinks. Their food was delicious with generous portion sizes. A friend of mine told me that this was her favorite place in town. Had to try it. We were seated right away and service was excellent. The place is cute - also has an outside covered patio which is where we were seated. The food was excellent- we started with the queso fundido with flour tortillas, I had the octopus tacos, we also had chicken flautas and shrimp tacos. Also added the elote and rice sides. All delicious. Their chips are on the thicker side and complimentary with red and green salsa. This will become our go to Tex-Mex for sure! read more

Have you been looking for a greedy Tex-Mex restaurant that doesn't tell you about their new ordering policies and then sneakily charges you higher a la carte prices so that you end up owing over $70 for veggie tostadas, queso, and Diet Coke? If so, then this is the restaurant for you! It is the destination for an absolute ripoff! For years, we were loyal customers of this establishment, and even after multiple customer service issues in the past, we gave this place another chance. However, tonight was the last time we will be dining here as the service from both the management and waitstaff was deplorable. Before tonight, the staff at Muchacho always told us that we could order tostadas (even if not listed on the menu) and still be charged a price similar to other "plates" or "platters" shown on the menu. Therefore, as usual, we went to Muchacho tonight, and we ordered two plates of three veggie tostadas with queso fresco on top and one small appetizer queso expecting to be charged the usual prices. However, the waitress did not tell us that Muchacho recently changed their ordering policies requiring items like tostadas to be charged a la carte for each individual component of the tostada. In other words, instead of being charged a flat price for each tostada plate, we were charged individual a la carte prices for the tostadas and the included ingredients (such as beans, rice, and queso fresco) used in "building" each tostada plate. As a result, the price for each tostada ended up being approximately $9, and each plate approximately $27, and we didn't even order any meat!! Add in a small appetizer queso and two diet cokes, and the meal ended up costing over $70! Ironically, this was more expensive than previous larger meals at Muchacho when we had actually ordered meat. Upon receiving the check, we asked the waitress about the unusual pricing and strange individual charges for each component of the tostadas. She simply shrugged and said that she had to enter it in that way as a la carte. We reminded her about how we were always told that we could order the tostadas as a "plate" or "platter" on the menu and be charged similar to other meal items on the menu. After the waitress responded cluelessly that she had to enter the order that way and that there was nothing she could do about it, we asked for the manager. What a shameless sleazeball! Without any apology or offer to accommodate us, the manager walks over and tells us that the new policy is to charge a la carte for each component, that the buttons on their ordering machines only allow them to do this (he said like "Raising Cane's and other fast food places"), and that they had to do this because they are opening two new restaurants! Incredible, right? We couldn't believe we were sitting there and this manager was basically admitting to swindling us to support the opening of two new Muchacho restaurants. Despicable! Even after we explained to the manager that the waitress didn't tell us about the new a la carte ordering/billing policy and that she should have told us beforehand, he didn't care and he didn't offer any apology or accommodation. Shame on you Muchacho!! We were loyal customers to you for years, and we were so patient with you when we had unpleasant experiences with your staff in the past. We were willing to give you another chance because you had a few staff members that were nice to us over the years, and you offered some menu items that we liked. However, tonight's conduct was completely unacceptable and left us feeling swindled. As a result, we will no longer be supporting your establishment. To the potential customer, beware! However, if you like getting ripped off to support this greedy establishment's opening of two new restaurants, then bon appetit!! read more

Review us based on 4 visits. We attended happy hour at the bar and the craft cocktails are very very good and can be customized however, you like. Service is fast and attentive. The appetizers they offer for happy hour are unique. The nachos have some vegetables on them as well as a layer of beans and cheese. The queso can be tailored to be spicy or bland whatever your taste prefers. Outstanding chips and salsa. We've had old-fashioned and the prickly pear margarita as well as the regular margarita all are very good with plenty of liquor. I highly recommend this place. You have to get there early. Happy hour til six. It is every day even on the weekends, which is a great amenity for guest.
