Their homemade tortilla chips were perfectly crispy, and the fresh salsa - both red and tomatillo - were bursting with flavor. A fantastic start to our meal! For lunch, my husband and I opted for the enchiladas. His chili con carne enchiladas were a classic Tex-Mex dream, loaded with flavor and topped with fresh onions. As for me, the chicken mole poblano enchiladas were pure comfort food. It had that rich, chocolatey depth that brought back wonderful memories from childhood. Our daughters shared the beef fajita nachos, which were a hit (minus the need for a little a little cutting as the pieces of steak on each nacho are a tad too big for a bite). The steak was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. But the cherry on top was our waiter, Jose. He was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our daughters feel special. They absolutely adored him for including their American Girl dolls in the conversation! Overall, Muchacho is a fantastic spot for delicious Mexican food and friendly service. Confronted with a resolvable issue, the manager became confrontational and when asked for her name escalated the situation by answering "manager" instead of her name. Easily solvable issue escalated by her inability to communicate followed by our departure from the restaurant. I absolutely love this place! It isn't easy to get a reservation though, so I have to plan week's in advance to get in, but it is so worth it! The service is always exceptional and the cocktails and food are outstanding! This time we stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and I enjoyed the El Tigre cocktail. It was perfection! I started with the pozole verde which was hot and delicious. Then, I had the shrimp tacos which were fantastic. The shrimp were large and well seasoned. Carnitas tacos were good but would struggle with an entire order of them. Steak fajitas were perfectly cooked and tender, tortillas also on point. We ordered the La Chilanga enchiladas and the combo marinated CAB flap steak and chicken breast fajita and they were both very delicious and flavorful! Personally, the La Chilanga enchiladas was a bit dry to my taste but still delicious and both the meat for the fajita were super tender and tasty!! They also provide with complimentary chips and two types of salsa The only bad experience to the dine-in was that we were given the wrong order and after the food was given, the servers did not stop by for a while nor looked at us while we were calling out to them. However, they provided with the right order in the end and because the food was good, I'd give 4 star instead of anything lower. read more

Not a bad little place. A corner location with cool interior - I really love horseshoe bars as you see fewer and fewer of them nowadays. Staff were very friendly. The menu is hard to tackle though. Went on a date to this cool Mexican spot on a Saturday and had a great time. Started with an excellent margarita at the bar, and graduated to dinner at a table in the back. My dining companion is vegetarian so I decided to try a veggie option as well. Great decision because my mushroom fajitas were excellent! Great flavor on them and the add-ons just elevated it. And the garlic butter on the side? Positively criminal, glad I didn't realize there was garlic in it until the end of my meal or I might have eaten it all. One minor complaint, carne asada is one of my favorite Mexican dishes. I eat it al the time. "Carne asada" is not "carne asada" unless it comes on a sizzling plate. If the "carne asada" doth not sizzle then it's called "Arrachera." So this needs to be addressed! I need the "sizzling" on my carne asada Muchacho for maximum ole. Next time I fly by I'm hoping to get my La flor de amour or four with my "sizzling" carne asada. We sat at the bar (multiple times) and had to ask for more chips, or a water refill, or our next drink. The service is TERRIBLE, AT THE BAR!! We witnessed the bar staff shooting-the -shit with each other (looking at phones, comparing texts), And not attending to patrons. It's wild. First and foremost our server was very attentive and friendly and I'm sure he was only honoring management wishes. We got there (2 people) at 6:00 pm on a Wed. night. The restaurant was full but had a few vacant tables. However, we both felt rushed all night because the manger kept hovering. We were hoping to visit, have a cocktail and appetizer, dinner etc.... Our waiter asked us several times about ordering dinner while we were eating our appetizers. So we finally ordered dinner while we were still eating our appetizer. Our meal came out within 5 minutes of ordering. Once we were closed to be finished eating the manager came over with our bill. No one asked if we wanted anything else, a to-go box, nothing, just the bill. And then promptly at 8:00 pm our server told us we had to leave because a reservation was there for our table. I asked him - "So you are telling us we have to leave? Are you serious?" He apologized, glanced over at his manger standing behind him and said Yes, we need the table for a reservation. We had barely finished dinner. I cannot understand how this restaurant gets such a crowd. I'm not going to diss the food, it was ok, but there are many (It is Dallas, after all) Mexican restaurants that are just as good or better. A great Tex-Mex find in the Preston/Northwest Highway area. The vibe in this restaurant is lively and it was quite crowded. There is an attractive bar in the center where you can eat and/or drink. This place was good. Your average run of the mill Mexican places but extremely expensive. I was really excited to try the menu but the flavors described didn't come through in the actual dishes. We had one of our most favorite and memorable dinners in years last night at Muchacho's - Dallas celebrating our very very good friend, Chris Chen's, belated Birthday with her husband and their kids. The food, service, vibe and beautiful restaurant were all absolutely perfect. I could eat Tex-Mex for every meal and be happy and I group Tex-Mex restaurants into different categories in my head. Muchacho's is far and away the leader in high quality Tex-Mex. Of course with, Omar Flores, the two-time James Beard Award finalist Chef/Co-Owner along with co-owner Sammy, it shouldn't be too surprising that they blew the other high quality Tex-Mex restaurants out of the water. The service was also incredible. The whole staff was amazing, but our server, Jose, was perfection. He was professional, friendly, happy, proud of his restaurant, he was having fun, and he made everyone feel special - especially the Birthday Girl, Chris. Chris is an attorney, but she also went to culinary school so she knows the difference between good and great food and service. She was beaming the whole meal and commenting frequently about the exceptional quality and fine details of the food and service that most people probably wouldn't pick up on which added to the enjoyment for Terry and me. At the end of the meal she also added that the server, Jose, was one of the very best -if not The Best- servers she had ever seen. That is one hell of a complement coming from Chris Chen. She doesn't make comments like that very often. It's the first time I've heard her say it in the 15 years I've known her and after having 100s of meals together. The Mushroom Fajitas -- Amazing! Vegetarians don't have to settle with this entree like they do at other restaurants when they order. This vegetarian entree is a SHOW STOPPER not just an item to give vegetarians something to eat like the vegetarian options at most restaurants. Beef & Chicken Fajitas looked to be just as good. Desserts - exceptional. So incredibly flavorful and not just sweet like other restaurants. Refried beans and rice - also incredible and not just a filler item thrown on the plate like other Tex-Mex restaurants. Fish tacos appetizer - too pretty to eat, but we did anyway. Delicious Chips & Corn Tortilla Wraps - delicious! I'm probably forgetting something and Chris could add a lot more specific detail, but WOW we are so incredibly fortunate to have Omar Flores and his Muchacho Tex-Mex (Dallas & Southlake) along with his Whistle Britches (Dallas, Willow Bend, Southlake) restaurants here to enjoy. The server randomly came by while we were still eating our chips and salsa and took two of the peoples plates from which they had been eating off of the table and left my plate. He took those plates over to the cabinet, wiped them off, and put them back in the cabinet! The food was cold and bland. The waiter was not patient, and when my dad asked for him to annunciate a little better, one of the hot sauces, he became exasperated. He just continued to repeat it quickly.
