Unfortunately, our lunch experience was not very good. This was our first time visiting Muchacho's at this location, and it was quite disappointing. The queso fundido arrived cold, as if it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while before being brought to our table. In addition, our server rarely checked on us throughout the meal, which made the experience even less enjoyable. We have previously dined at the Muchacho's location in Southlake, where both the food and service were impeccable. Based on this visit, we are not sure we will return to this location. read more

Sunday dinner at Muchacho. Appreciated that they honored my request on the reservation for a booth. It seemed important to them to get it right and that shows a lot of customer focus. Service by Jose was excellent. We had the brisket flautas, and the beef fajitas. Presentation on both was outstanding. The brisket flautas is a large serving while the fajitas are actually a reasonable portion (but would be considered small compared to other restaurants). Perfectly crunchy flautas, but the brisket itself was a bit bland. Likewise, the steak fajitas were cooked, a perfect medium rare and tender enough to cut with your fork but again very bland. Just thought they needed some salt or seasoning of some type. For the price they charge ($34), the fajitas should be exceptional in my opinion. Homemade tortillas are excellent. Great service and delicious food. These are some of the best fajitas in Dallas. Their queso is also some of my favorite. The staff is always lively and friendly. The restaurant itself is a bit tight but loved the decor and big windows all through the place. Plenty of parking as it's part of a connected space. Our waiter was on point and helped our party of 12 navigate through the menu flawlessly, even the gluten free couple felt comfortable ordering without prejudice!! The complimentary chips and salsa were def handmade and has a kick, so watch out! The margaritas were strong, cold, and perfect. The tamarindo was my go to and the ghost pepper had a slight heat but I could've had 5 of those babies, no problemo!! Queso was straight cheese, eat it fast cuz it'll harden. The hamachi Agua chile was more Asian style in my opinion, but very good. The brisket sopas were the fan favorite!! Ended up ordering a second serving!! Steak/shrimp Fajitas & brisket taquitos were a hit!! The shrimp were massive and loved the fresh tortillas!! We hit up Muchacho on Sunday, February 1st, for brunch, and it was a great choice! Started with the brisket sopes as an appetizer--super tasty and a nice way to kick things off. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious; I preferred the red sauce over the green, but that's just personal taste. Drinks were decent--solid margs and cocktails--but a bit on the pricey side. Understandable for the upscale vibe and location in Preston Center. For the main, the pork belly fajitas were amazing--perfectly cooked, flavorful, and juicy. The rice and beans on the side were just right, not overdone or bland. Totally recommend this place for brunch or anytime you're craving elevated Tex-Mex. The food and atmosphere make it worth it. Only downside: the restrooms are limited--just 2 toilets for the whole restaurant. Not sure how that's up to code with how busy it gets, but it didn't ruin the experience. I have to say...this place was amazing!! Our service, drinks, food, desserts, coffee were amazing!! I think I had the best tres leches cake I've ever had!!!!! I'll definitely be back for that. It was packed when we got there but gladly one of my girlfriends made reservations weeks in advance and the earliest we could get was 8 pm which was fine they sat us right away and service was great! I had to try two different plates bc why not I wasn't sure the pozole verde would be filling enough for me so I ordered that it's sooo good definitely recommend! And I also ordered tacos al carbon - don't worry I took some home but I wanted a taco too. We had the como la flor and chefs kiss or should I saw bartenders kiss it was good!! We also had coffee - not all places have good coffee for dinner and this was definitely good they brought is some creamer too. Now the tres leches - everyone order it! I don't care if you don't like it - it's soo good! It has a hint of pineapple- which I loved! The whipped cream was homemade you could tell and the coconut flakes . It was a little pricey but we knew were going to a nice place and didn't mind. I don't know why the reviews for Muchacho are so bad because this place is awesome. The vibe is great, the cocktails are ON POINT, the food is delicious and the service is quick and speedy. Chip refills come before you even ask, they're taking drink orders and bringing drinks at a good pace, no long delays while you're waiting for food. Food wise you really can't go wrong, Guacamole makes a great starter, the ahi tuna taquitos and the hamachi aguachile are also great starters. I started with the chips & salsa, which came out fresh and crisp: Tip* mix both salsas together...and its a perfect pairing Then came the Picadillo Empanadas: spiced beef picadillo, oaxaca cheese, avocado crema, pickled red onions, and pepitas. Let me just confess that the pickled red onions were the star of the show, hands downs. The only miss for me was the inside of the empanadas. Unfortunately ,a little too doughy for my taste. I was hoping for more crunch to match the flavor. Next up were the Steak Nachos: generously topped with refried beans and cheese but a little light on chips. I stumbled across this place for dinner on a Saturday night and it was packed! There was about a 20 minute wait, which wasn't bad considering all the people waiting. They were turning tables fast. Service was really good! First they tell you in a text message, then instead of greeting me I was then informed the table was only for 90 minutes. I saw one review that suggested making a reservation. I agree. They have a pretty nice selection of margaritas. I had the spicy margarita. It was good. There were two obvious vegetarian options: rojo enchilada and cauliflower tacos. The bar tenders were very busy so I didn't want to ask a bunch of questions, but I did ask which of those items was recommended. The couple next to me and bar tender suggested the tacos. I understand restaurant economics, but it's truly unacceptable to treat your paying customers like they're a burden and rush them out! Additionally, water was spilt on my purse while sitting at the bar and the female bartender with long blonde hair didn't even acknowledge it or provide napkins. She also told me the wrong price for my margarita and refused to honor the price she said. Unless you're Jerry Jones, don't expect to be treated well here. The chips are to die for, which such yummy salsas. My dining companion mentioned that these chips will hold up for an entire month even--just pop them in a zip lock bag or Tupperware and they magically stay fresh. The ahi Tuna taquitos were phenomenal and so flavorful I couldn't get enough. The Pollo perfecto truly lives up to its name--so amazingly tender and juicy, with all the flavors soaked in. I've been a regular at this restaurant for quite some time, which is why this experience was so disappointing!!!! I decided to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday here tonight with his family and our friends. Unfortunately, were treated unfairly and with zero professionalism. When my sister and I ordered drinks first, our server asked for both of our IDs. That's completely fine because I understand protocol. Keep in mind, we are both 22 and turning 23 soon. I have always gotten drinks here as well. The issue started when the server took our IDs to the back and returned with the manager, Carlos, who refused to serve us alcohol simply because we have the same birthday. We repeatedly explained that we are twin sisters, but he refused to listen or use any common sense. I asked for another manager to step in and help resolve the situation, but Carlos refused to provide any real assistance. We even offered to involve the police to verify our IDs because we knew we had done nothing wrong, yet they still refused to budge.... What should have been a special birthday dinner turned into an embarrassing and frustrating experience in front of our family and friends. Extremely disappointed. My sister and I met up with our friends, party of 8, to get dinner and drinks. Mind you, I am of age, 22, and our server took our ID's to the back once we gave them to him. Moments later, the manager, Carlos, came out saying he didn't feel comfortable serving us because our ID's had the same birthday. Mind you, they have the same birthday because my sister and I are TWINS. I kept reiterating that we could call the cops and sort it out because we are very much giving real ID's. He wouldn't budge and was very disrespectful to our entire party. I was excited to try the food because I've heard such good things but the manager of the establishment is extremely dismissive and disgusting towards white women. It was definitely a power imbalance because my twin and I are two white girls. Also, a basic ID scanner would have told them that we were of age but clearly they don't understand how to tell the difference between a real and a fake. It is illegal to deny a person service because you "assume" it's not real, that's not legally acceptable. Although we had a friendly waiter he clearly had too many tables to give even basic service. Our appetizers showed up to the table before we were even given a glass of water and wasn't refilled until the end of the meal....After sitting down it took several minutes to be served chips and salsa. We began to think it wasn't complimentary and that you may have to order it as an appetizer. When someone finally stopped by the chips were salty, salty, which makes no sense to me... salsa's are always salty to balance a chip... Chips should not be. If you want salt, you can add it yourself. We both ordered fajitas. They were good but certainly nothing great. The packed bar gave fun, weekend night vibes saying people were glad to be out and about. Service was prompt, consistent, and knowledgeable. We had a reservation in advance, and were immediately seated upon arrival. Service was excellent from the start. We ordered guacamole and a salad for an appetizer which I both highly recommend. The chips are crispy and perfectly salted so expect to eat at least a basket! We ordered the fajitas for our entrees and I must say they're the best fajitas we've had in awhile.
