I'm sitting in one of these chinatown small buses as I type this review. These buses are a life…read moresaver. They save me the hassle of having to take the mta and stop at every train station on the n to then transfer on the 7 just to get to flushing. It takes me 1.5 hours with mta but with these buses it only takes me around 40 mins give or take depending on the traffic. Not to mention I'm sitting in a comfy seat and don't have to deal with external issues. As of July 2021, I pay $5 one way. Using a rideshare app or calling car service would have costed me well over $40. The bus caters to the Chinese immigrant community that usually travels back and forth from the 3 different chinatowns (Brooklyn 8th ave, Manhattan chinatown, flushing queens) either for work, run errands or meet up with family. It gives the people mobility with comfort and it's community centered. If you are not Chinese it's still ok. Once you get to know the system that's in place you'll never want to take public transportation again.

They have outlets for each seat which is helpful. The bus has always left on time but tends to arrive about 20- 30minutes late, I'm guessing due to traffic getting out of the city. I had to pay more for my next bus and that too at an inconvenient time and on top of that, BestBus does not have a basic decency to cover the expense of the new bus trip I booked, instead I was refunded the original amount as if they don't care about you what happens to you after they cancelled the trip. Save yourself some unexpected headache and don't book this bus.

What I mean by that is that they have a sense of entitlement where they think they can take up 2 seats and not let their fellow passengers sit down next to them. Definitely better than the subway though. I often times will take the BM4 or BM1 even though it's not that convenient and drops me off quite a distance from my apartment. The trade-off is my fellow passengers are much more considerate, and overall it's a much more pleasant ride.

The driver didn't say anything to us and we just took off. The seats sucked, no wi-fi, no outlets...and we got there an hour after schedule. We made a stop at a New Jersey service station, however, I did appreciate that the driver came back around to ask if everyone was present. On the way back though, Washington Deluxe definitely redeemed itself. Quick check-in process, driver (SJ?) took our bags. The engine started at 9:57, and we took off at 10. He made some quick announcements with good humor: wi-fi, outlets under the seat, told us to be courteous to our neighbors, and made me happy to be riding with him. This man should get a raise. :)
