Interesting that the trains and the MTA are not connected…read more After exploring the New York Botanic Garden in the Bronx I needed to head back to Brooklyn with my hubby and our daughter to meet my nephew for dinner. This was so much faster than a twenty minute walk to another station in the Bronx. Fortunately my daughter has the train app, so she bought three tickets for about $5 a pop and after a short wait, we were on our way. Once we got to Union Square we exited, paid for the MTA and once again, we were on our way. Thinking about fare evasion? Don't do it! The fine for not paying for your ticket could be a whopping $100!!! And if you think that you can just sneak in on the train. Think twice. There was a train conductor that was checking if each passenger had a ticket. IYKYK.

Highly recommend over taking the crowded MTA trains and buses or even driving and paying for parking. The train leaves you right across the street the Botanical Garden entrance (Mosholu entrance). Check the train schedule... easy 20 minute ride from Grand Central Station. So convenient that I have learned my lesson and know that I know where the station is and the train schedule, will take the Metro North going to/from Botanical Garden going forward. Station itself wasn't crowded and platform has directions to inform which way trains are headed. Kiosks machines are there to buy your tickets.... The boards inform you when the trains are coming and if delayed... Tip: Get the MTA TrainTime app and purchase tix via mobile... kiosks don't always work and more expensive paying on the train. Just remember to activate ticket before boarding as there is a time limit... Don't stand near the edge of the platform and esp turn away when express trains go by... that whosh of air! Heading back to NY, the Metro North track 4 is where you want to be. Take the overpass bridge to the other side of the tracks.

The station is a bit gloomy , grimy and worn down and if you have knee issues the steps can be hard on the knees but overall its well lit and safe as 4 mta cops were on the platform and thats very good cause area is not the greatest especially at night. Good bright schedule boards on both side of the platforms and self service ticket machines at each ends of the station. The trip took less the 35 minutes to grsnd central terminal and ticket price is 8.50. Overall a quick convient trip into Manhattan from the bronx

The Metro North trains hit every stop in the Bronx at night. On the weekends the tickets are discounted for rides in the Bronx and Harlem. During rush hour tall boy cans of Bronx Ale and others are sold by vendors on the platform. Also it is a quicker alternative route if a Yankees game is ones destination. But buy your ticket using the machine. If you buy your ticket onboard it is a lot more and cash only.

They only take cash . I have been traveling from Providence to Manhattan for about 10 plus year. I…read morealways took Peter Pan buses . On Thursday March 28th, 2019 was the first time ever that Peter Pan was sold out, it was too late to cancel my hotel. The second option Peter Pan gave me was to stand by in hopes someone wouldn't show up and I needed to be in NYC by 12pm. I have known about Dominican bus transportation and was always scared of taking these buses . When my hair lady told me that her family takes this service, I was more at easy . I headed to their office in broad st. They took down my address and said I would get a call two hours before departure time which was at 6am and also I would get a call 20mts before they arrived at my house . Next morning, they did exactly that. They called me two hours before and 20mts before arrival . There was a mix up with my address but the driver got there. Let's start with the Van : I expected the old vans, since back in my country i traveled in vans like that , I knew the trip was going to be tight; To my surprise it was one of the newest van that arrived, which has a seat belt and all. There cup holders . They still have some of the old vans so you never know what you might get . I was prepare for an adventure . Also, I expected the van to be full and it was only 3 of us plus the driver. I was told there are times when it's completely full so be aware . The driver travels fast, given that we left half an hour late due to the mix up in the address, we arrived at the outskirts of NYC sooner than I expected ( I have never seen this with Peter Pan bus ). They make a stop for bathroom breaks , awesome right! . Usually they stop at exit 40, Dunkin, Macdonald and other restaurant are available here. Sammy , the driver was very helpful in telling me where I should take the train and which train would take me to Manhattan and told me next time I take this company I should tell driver to leave me at the same address. Sammy had the Spanish radio station on , this doesn't bother me as I know where ever you take a Hispanic bus there going to be music playing . He had on merengue and some reggaetón. Sammy would occasionally engage us in conversation . The music was mid level volume. I still could put my headphones on and listen to my own music . If you aren't the type who likes music playing from beg to end , this isn't the company you should take or bring your own headphones and listen to your own playlist. It's a Hispanic company music is expected by their passengers believe me . I will take this service again . I need to get to NYC in the morning as soon as posible . Peter Pan does take time, they have to travel at a certain speed . They only take cash so make sure you bring . I wish I could pay upon reservation but they charge you on the bus. Also , they have new owners I think that's made a difference . I read the reviews and it didn't look good but I was pleasantly surprise

Well, they charged me $85 and it took 5 1/2 hours. The van driver said he was shocked to have me on the van because I was the first white person that he had seen use this service.
