My partner and I were trying to decide what to eat for dinner when we saw a new skewer spot had opened nearby. We both love skewers, so we were excited to check it out. We also noticed online that it's a "KTV restaurant," which intrigued us since neither of us had been to one before.
Well... now we know what a KTV restaurant is.
When we got there, they were showing a World Cup game on a huge projector with a dance floor in front. The second the game ended, the screen switched over to Chinese karaoke and one of the customers immediately got up to sing. It was honestly so fun listening to different people serenade the restaurant throughout the rest of our meal. The space itself is huge, nicely decorated, and definitely has Instagrammable vibes.
Now onto the important part... the food!
We ordered the wood ear mushroom appetizer, grilled eggplant, yellow croaker skewer, fried chicken wings, fried mantou, and pretty much worked our way through most of the meat skewers. Our favorites were the chicken gizzard, chicken skin, and lamb skewers. I also really enjoyed the fried chicken wings.
The only thing I'd probably skip next time is the wood ear mushroom appetizer. The spicy marinade was delicious, but the mushrooms were a little too mushy for my liking. I was also so excited to try the fried intestine/colon (it's the main reason I wanted to go!), but unfortunately they had sold out. Guess I'll just have to come back!
Service was good and easy too. You order everything by scanning a QR code at your table. Cell service inside is a little spotty, but they have Wi-Fi so ordering wasn't an issue.
Overall, I'm docking a star because while everything was good, nothing was especially memorable, and the prices are on the higher side. That said, it's the only Chinese skewer spot in the area, and between the fun KTV atmosphere and all those skewers, I know we'll be back... especially so I can finally try that fried intestine. read more
