Just had my 2 year-old daughter's birthday party here. We had been deciding between using our…read morecondo building's lounge space and an indoor playground. Play was definitely a better choice for us for a number of reasons: 1. Accommodates more people - we had 16 toddlers and at least 20 adults, yet there was enough space for everyone to get comfortable. 2. Theme, Decor, Party favors - Play staff decorated the room, provided party favors (depends on the package you get), ice, plates, utensils, cups, etc. - The devil is in the details, and I was having mini anxiety attacks trying to think of a clever theme and even-more-clever party favors to go with it. I wish I had the time to create original, imaginative favors and decorations--but I don't. They took this burden from me and did a great job. 3. Entertainment - two staffers provided entertainment, playing age-appropriate music and led some song and dance activities. I didn't have to put together a playlist, which saved me hours. My daughter and her little guests were laughing, dancing, and generally have a wonderful time. 4. Prep and cleaning - Play takes care of this for you. They even helped us consolidate my daughter's gifts into bags and wrapped up the leftover food we had brought. 5. Refreshments - (depends on package) they provided cupcakes and juice for the kids. The staff cut the cake I brought and distributed it to the guests. What was I responsible for? I brought non-dessert food for the kids and adults, a cake, soda, and water. And my kid. That's it! It was awesome. There are a number of indoor play spaces to choose from in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and LIC. I think Play is most appropriate for children ages 1-3.5 (although one of our 7 year old guests still had a lot of fun), which is great. Toddlers won't get trampled by older kids like I've experienced at other play spaces with huge, complicated gym structures. Play has a simple climbing gym and slides, as well as a "household" area with play food, kitchen, dining table, and laundry. They have tents and tunnels, as well as ride-on toys. For new walkers, there's even a "sheltered" area by the window that's a bit separated from the rest of the space where a caregiver and a child can practice walking (and falling) safely. Ownership changed here in the last year, and the new owners are incredibly dedicated to making sure every child and parent is happy. I traded at least a dozen emails with them in the weeks before the party. When we initially came in to check out the space, they really took the time to give us a tour, answer all of our questions ---and most importantly---anticipate our needs. I've been a mom for just two short years and have no idea what a birthday party entails. They do, and they were a huge help when I didn't even know what to ask for. Lastly, I'm a germ phobe, and I saw the staff constantly mopping the floor by the entrance to prevent snow from being trekked in. When the crowd started dying down around nap time (around 1:00), I saw a staffer collecting the play food, presumably to wash. I liked that. There are hand sanitizer dispensers on the walls. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked, including the changing station, which had extra wipes and other things that a parent could easily forget.

I tried to push through but was then checkin in by the horrible staff member who didnt end smile. Didnt even tell me the total when paying for my two children = $23 + $18 = $41 nor have a receipt. I was told it would be emailed, but never got that either. The cost came with an open room with worn down items, broken toys, no coffee station (even though there is a sign), and not even a stocked bathroom. Toys were bent, old, overly used and wearing off. Even the bins from IKEA were falling apart.. IKEA items should be easily replaced as they are cheap. The facilities was worn down as well, paint chipped or peels off on seating area and slides. Mural is still nice. The "cafe" area seating was pushed to the wall, not allowing a place to sit while the worker was putting streamers on a board for the private room. There is no water fountain to refill your water bottle. Again, advertised coffee and tea.. when asked was told "nothing, you can go to starbucks" as I pointed to the sign the worker said "OH"! I had to give the front desk girl broken items and she left in the lobby area!! I can see her just putting them back in after we leave in order not to deal with it. As a representative of the space, she was horribly spaced out with a negative demeanor as if she hates her job. Private room for classes and parties is cute... I believe this is where their energy goes to. I can see it good for a 1 year bday party. Ages 2 and over for open play with bore out fast. I reflect constently on how truly disappointing it was!!

Keeping in mind how tough it is to wrangle a roomful of tots, the dance instructor was impressive in her focus and engagement, laying the foundation of a classic ballet experience. Music included some of the childhood classic tunes we all know by heart, as well as classical piano standards and even a lovely instrumental version of "Here Comes the Sun." Even when a few of the children began to become distracted, our instructor managed to ramp up the interest level with ribbons and participatory exercises. Getting just one kid to pay attention is a big enough challenge, so I was in awe to see what a pro could do. Immediately, we felt like we had been welcomed into a little community. All the staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful, which I especially appreciate in such a chaotic situation as a herd of families arriving and a little bewildered. My only wish is that the space were larger, but otherwise this is a wonderful neighborhood dance school. Well done!

Winter in NYC with a kid is no joke. Before becoming a parent, my main goal on freezing weekends…read morewas staying cozy. Now? It's finding places where my child can actually burn energy when outdoor playgrounds are basically off-limits. Enter Space Club, the solution to this problem. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place was thoughtfully designed with both kids and parents in mind--exactly as they describe on their website. Getting tickets at the door was easy, with no wait: you just provide the phone number associated with your account, and that's it! I really appreciated that tickets aren't strictly timed: you can drop in anytime that day, which takes a lot of pressure off planning. The socks-only policy and large shoe-off area also immediately set the tone for cleanliness (and yes, my white socks stayed white). There are tons of well-padded play areas, obstacle courses, sensory rooms, and quiet corners[1]. Also, unique to this location, a bounce house. Unlike many indoor play gyms, this place is actually enjoyable for adults too. The café offers smoothies, coffee, and snacks[2], and you can bring your own food/drinks. Parking right outside is a rare bonus for Greenpoint. One small downside: despite clear signs saying no food or drinks in the play areas, I saw several parents bringing large coffee drinks (even into the bouncy castle). Not Space Club's fault (in fact, I saw staff members going to some of these parents to ask them to bring their drinks outside the pay areas), but I do wish this rule were enforced more consistently. The temperature runs a bit cooler than at their Fort Greene location, perhaps due to the fact that this is one single, large, floor. While it wasn't uncomfortable at first, I did start to feel chilly after being there for about three hours. Overall, it's clean, well-run, and totally worth it. We'll definitely be back. ------------------------------- [1] Especially great for kids who need a calmer, sensory-friendly environment. [2] Note the no-nuts policy.

I appreciate the positive and upbeat approach to nervous clients that never done this before. In the beginning of the class we were stretching full body and we were lucky enough to see a rehearsal during our class. We were instructed to come up the ladder and be strapped with a harness. The next steps they vocally announced was that we had to hook our legs and hang upside down while arch our backs. I was quite nervous to be honest and my first time doing this so this task was hard to achieve. I'm slightly afraid of heights and wanted to get over that fear; however as I was struggling emotionally/physically our coach Carol was giving me tough love advice. At first I was discouraged at this and took it personal because my body physically couldn't do it (perhaps this was a mental block) and I couldn't move onto the next level (having someone catch you). My friend eventually got to do it and I slightly got discouraged at this point. Looking back at it however I know she meant well. Regardless, it was an amazing experience.

The crowd that comes here is also local and super friendly. It's a nice departure from Brooklyn boulders as its pretty quiet and much less crowded. The package for a 10 pack is also quite reasonable if you want to really concentrate and get better at climbing. I guess the only real detractor here is that the climbing gym isn't open for open climb all day. It usually has after school classes and individual training sessions earlier on and open climb starts between 630 and 7 depending on the day.

I'm sorry to see that management has taken my review rather personally rather than constructively…read more I'm equally disappointed to be effectively called a liar. While I don't doubt they have their own perspective, this was an accurate description of my experience. Communication from management was very ad-hoc (no one ever 'sat me down' to explain anything) and as mentioned in the original review, they even connected me to a random stranger in a different country instead of one of their own employees. Also sad to see management didn't address the other issues in my review which made me want to cancel my membership. The owner cited me 'moving' as the source of problems. I actually cancelled my membership months before I even knew I was going to move, because of the quality of the sessions declining due to the summer camp set-up, which I mentioned in my original review. This would have given me around three months to make-up the last two sessions of the month I had paid for, which proved impossible to schedule with the new trainer. Around a month before I moved I brought up that I would like to be refunded since I hadn't been able to schedule a session with the new trainer and wouldn't be able to after moving. The owner said they would never have offered me a New Year deal they offer everyone if they had known I was moving... but it's pretty common in New York City to move or change leases after one year. It's not like I moved after six months. I also take issue with the characterization of my schedule as erratic. My schedule is about as normal as anyone who works a typical 9-5 office job. If they had availability earlier in the morning for me, I would have taken that slot but all they had was 8-9. Sometimes, like a normal person, I have to travel for work. Sometimes I have to go in for an early meeting. These things are normal and if they're intolerable than maybe this gym isn't a good fit for anyone with a full-time job. As if my trainers did not need to reschedule just as often for personal reasons. It feels like EA employs a double standard where their trainers are absolved for scheduling conflicts but customers are not. That's not a lie, that's based on the new trainer cancelling on me 4 times, which I still have texts and emails from. I'm not the type to use Yelp solely for bashing on a company (most of the reviews I leave are positive) but I am going to use it for it's intended purpose of describing my experience.

There is so much for kids to do! The first floor has a big ball pit, slide, swings and lots of other things to keep the kids busy. My daughter was having a great time exploring everything. The party was on the second floor, and this is where my daughter found her favorite activity -- the bead pool. She sat there for almost an hour picking out different beads and making necklaces and bracelets. She loved it so much and probably would have stayed there even longer if she could! She also really enjoyed building with the wooden blocks. They had big foam blocks out on the terrace too, which she had fun building with. I liked that there was a good mix of things to do. It wasn't only running around and climbing. Kids could also sit, build, create and just enjoy doing their own thing. The birthday room was really spacious too. There was plenty of room for the kids and parents, as well as space for food, decorations and activities. It never felt crowded. I also liked having the bead pool, wooden blocks and foam blocks on the same floor as the party room. The kids could enjoy different activities and still stay close to the party. The third floor was closed when we visited, so we didn't get to see that part. But honestly, there was already so much going on that my daughter didn't even get a chance to try everything that was open. We really enjoyed our time at Space Club. My daughter had a great time at the birthday party, and we left feeling like we still had more to see and do. We would definitely come back for a family day and spend more time exploring. It's also a really nice option for a kids' birthday party, especially if you want a place with plenty of room and different activities to keep the kids happy. Hopefully we'll get to explore the third floor next time!

We didn't have a lock, and I didn't see many lockers actually locked, but we had no issues. A quick explanation at arrival would have been helpful. In terms of cleanliness, I actually had a very positive experience. During the two hours we were there, I saw multiple staff members actively cleaning the space several times, including common areas and play zones. That said, beads in the bead room do tend to scatter everywhere. While the space was generally clean, the loose beads can be a potential slipping or choking hazard and could benefit from closer monitoring. Outside food and drinks are allowed, which is a huge bonus compared to other indoor play spaces that require you to purchase everything from their café. The café itself is nice, spacious, and clean. High chairs are available, and there's plenty of seating for adults to relax while kids play. The bathrooms are spacious as well, though not all of them have changing tables. Overall, Space Club offers tons of engaging activities and clearly succeeds at keeping kids happy--mine had an amazing time and ran around nonstop for the full two hours we were there. I also appreciated how warm and cozy it felt on a frigid winter day. It's open seven days a week, 365 days a year, which is especially great for school closure days that fall on a Monday when many museums and other attractions are closed. We'll definitely be back.

When we were exploring local options, we knew our decision would be based on where we felt he would be 1) safe, 2) healthy and 3) loved. Everywhere we toured, we felt like he'd be safe and healthy. What set Two By Two apart was that we felt like he'd would be cared for by professionals who created genuine, authentic connections - as aunties, as kin. He was so little and our care priorities were more about him feeling seen, heard and addressed. Now that he's approaching Kindergarten, he's getting the same care while also getting support with socialization, learning emotional regulation, and the basics of academics (letter and number recognition, phonics). He has a group of close friends, uses feeling statements and is reading sight words and writing his name. All huge wins without robotic structure or impersonal instruction- which while inevitable in our school systems can wait until the elementary years. Two By Two continues to make progress in communication, family engagement and facilities. We've seen growth here and have been grateful for their request for feedback and impressed to see it implemented. Considering our care priorities and the experience that our son and we have had here, we will continue to recommend Two By Two to our neighbors and friends.
