I took a couple of classes hear and had a great time! The instructors has easier breakdowns if a certain move is too difficult, and won't push u if you are feeling too scared to do certain things but will inform you that it's not that you can't do certain obstacles, it's your brains safety mode being on, which helps me to try to get past that. So if you think this is a zoo just like I did, it isn't! I came here for a birthday party thinking I was going to see and pet little cute animals but boy was I wrong. This place is a massive warehouse like (and funky) gym/ninja warrior style venue, perfect to burn your kids's energy levels. We came here for a birthday party not knowing what to expect (should've googled beforehand but did not) and we ended up having so much fun. The building has two floors with different activities. There were approx. 40 kids in our party so we were split into two different groups. The staff were all nice, friendly and helpful. All the kids had an absolute ball. Food and drinks were served upstairs on their third floor. Very spacious floor for kids to run around with great views of surrounding buildings too. There is a rooftop but we didn't check it out as it was too cold. The building has both stairs and elevators - easy for strollers. The commute from Manhattan wasn't so bad either. My partner wanted to do something different for his birthday - something he and his friends wouldn't normally do - and physical activity was the first thing that came to our minds. We looked all over online for a place that can cater to ~10 people on short notice that wouldn't empty our wallets, and DUN DUN DUN, we finally found the one: Brooklyn Zoo! They have 2 levels: the first level is more open (fit for more varied activities) and consists of a trampoline and foam pit (which were the main things we really wanted) and the second level is where the actual ninja warrior! We opted for a standard party package for the first level because we thought it would be the most fun for our group's fitness level, and we were right! Our instructors, Arthur and Night, were amazing and extremely helpful! They came up with activities that started from 1 (warm up exercises) to 10 (jumping off a ledge and into the foam pit ). Arthur was there with me for the foam jump, and honestly, I felt much more safe with him there. Towards the end, I basically took over the trampoline and had a mini 1 on 1 lesson with Night. No matter how many times I tried bouncing on my behind , I couldn't do it because my legs always reached the bottom first! But Night came along and gave helpful pointers, and soon, I was doing combinations and all! All the staff members we encountered were all friendly, so there's no reason to feel intimated here (I know I was scared at first because I didn't know what to expect). Really cool recreational gym with a lot of different classes to choose from. I typically do the flip class with Sha, who is super friendly, talkative, and makes you feel safe. He never pushes too much, but just enough to help you conquer your fears! I have also done the handstands and bars class, as well as spent some time doing random stuff like trampoline during open gym hours. Overall great place with a nice vibe, has a lot of friendly people who frequent this parkour gym. I would recommend this for someone who is trying to be more active and push the limits of their body! read more

This place is a shit show that needs to seriously get it together and restruxture their classes, size, protocols and general mission. The owner clearly doesn't know the slightest thing about running a business. HAVING MONEY DOESN'T MAKE YOU A GOOD BUSINESS OWNER. As a parent I'm highly disappointed in management and the owner. Instead of setting class size limits, setting apart different skill levels etc they'll take anyone last minute for the extra money. Half the time the kids don't get the 1 on 1 time they need and they're being held back by random kids "dropping in". Back to back classes with barely any time for people to get out of the way.. it's a disaster. Get an owner/manager that actually has experience running an event space. Use this pandemic as an opportunity to make this what it can be!! I honestly feel bad for the staff and based on what I saw before quarantine...I won't be taking my child back. When the weather dips into the teens and your little ones have tons of energy to release, the Brooklyn Zoo is a great place to let them release their inner animals. I signed my 7-year-old nephew up for the Parkour Basics class. He had a great time learning how to properly run and jump in the different indoor obstacle courses on the 2nd floor. Next, he took the Ninja Training class on the 1st floor, which is great for kids into the American Ninja Warrior shows. In both classes, the kids are taught to stretch and warm up before beginning their training, and they are given a water break in the middle of the class. Each class is an hour long and led by instructors who focus the children's energies by having them do specific stunts. When asked, my nephew said he preferred the Ninja Training class more because the stunts were more fun. Each class is $25, but you can purchase a 10-pack for $180. It's best to create an account on their website first, sign up for the classes you want to take, then just check in at the front desk to see where the class is held. Classes are available for any age group, including adults. And like with any type of physical activity, care must be taken to avoid injuries, so instructors should be followed or consulted before attempting the stunts. read more

Literally filled with people with varying skill sets with respect to acrobatics but very supportive of one another in the gym. Lending advice and encouraging one another to accomplish different tricks, it was an awesome and inspiring space to work out in. She loved it. She felt that it wasn't enough time and I can understand why. When you have to deal with other kids in the class who don't follow instructions and take up everyone else's time by not listening and doing whatever they wanted instead of being fair to the fact that this is a paid for the hour class and everyone is on a time frame. But hey... they're kids right! ‍ They have a variety of different classes that the kids can take (and also adults) to utilize all your strengths in your body. The walls are decorated in graffiti art which I thought was pretty dope. Cool atmosphere. Didn't get to explore the upstairs. Bathrooms pretty clean. Threw my son a 5th birthday party here sight unseen (I've heard great things) and he had a wonderful time. He still talks about it months later. It's a well run operation and something a little different from the usual kid play gyms. The party was super easy and the space upstairs for pizza and cake was lovely (though I wish kids were allowed into the outdoor section). The only complaint I have is that it felt a little short. The basic package was for 1.5 hours which is half an hour shorter than the basic packages at other kid party places (bounce u, chuck e cheese, etc). I didn't realize at the time of booking but the extra half hour makes a difference. read more

I attended an adult class with Will The Thrill this week and it was totally awesome! Our instructor was an incredibly high level tumbler - I was AMAZED at his skills!!- and he offered helpful form corrections, tips & spots! I wasn't sure which building was the right one so when I called, the guy at the desk came outside to help me find the place-- SO NICE!! I managed to get a chance to enjoy this gym what I would call over a year ago (so apologies for my very late review). first off, I went with my roommate and he's a huge fan of American Ninja... I just happened to be going to the gym and thought, why not, let me test my skills besides running and lifting a weight here and there, and so there I was, excited, naive thinking this would be a breeze. We took a group class and our first task was to remain hanging from our two hands for the longest we could... sounds easy... 30 seconds in, I notice just how much my fingers will start to sweat and my hands loosing... I think I hit about a minute or so before I had to let go. Longest we were told was around 2 minutes or so. That should have been plenty an insight to realize how the rest of the courses would be. The best way I could explain it was, literally a bit of ninja vs parkour. It was incredibly fun learning the ins and outs of how to run-wall-climb or jumping form heights to minimize impact on ankles and knees, to move from hanging punching bag to hanging punching bag without touching the floor. Honestly, mid-way through, I was pretty exhausted and unsure I could complete the tasks that were handed to us.... even with another year and half of gym and working out... I can't quite say for sure that I would do much better this time around. A lot of the these exercises are pure core strength. In all honesty, I had such a great time here and the group we experienced this with was fun and encouraging. If it weren't for the distance, I would see myself coming in more often, sadly for me, I'm in Astoria and this gym is in Brooklyn. Would be so cool to have something similar closer to home! read more

we went to a kids birthday here (ages 6-12) and LOVED IT!!! The location is a bit out of the way but not too bad (couple of blocks from L train). The space is a kids dream, it's multiple floors of open space for parkour (think trampolines, monkey bars, padded pits, bars of all types and heights for kids to hang off, jump off, etc). This is not a kids jungle gym, it's an actual parkour gym but the team here are so creative that every single child in our party loved it. The instructors are incredibly gentle, fun but assertive. Safety and following instructions is important and the instructors make sure of that. Never did I feel like the kids weren't safe or would get hurt. Not only will the kids get a great workout and burn through some of their unlimited energy, they also get a great sense of confidence and accomplishment each time they complete a move. The kids are so brave and every parent was beaming with joy and so proud of their child. They also have a beautiful private rooftop where we had the actual birthday party. Just A++++, the whole staff was so friendly and helpful. Will be back and recommend to all parents! read more

Dope revival of 5Pointz era graffiti for a triplex parkour gym geared to kids in a Williamsburg warehouse. Kind of like the hood version of Chelsea Piers Field house although the clientele seems to be primarily hipster families. My kids did the ninja warrior drop in class and the vacation camp, all had a lot of fun. The drop in classes are a great alternative to Dave+Busters indoor entertainment for older kids in a NYC winter. My sole critique is they don't seem to have a semester track with the same group of kids each week, working to the next level. read more

I watched 2 hr marathon of ninja warrior and said I am gonna try this. Googled a gym and the first thing that popped up was Brooklyn zoo. They offered a variety of classes from parkour to aerial stuff (where you hang off a scarf from the ceiling) to Brazilian martial dance capoeira. Each class is about $20- $25 for an hour. It was two floor warehouse with foam pit and trampoline. I took the ninja warrior class. It was a bit intimidating walking in. Mainly male dominated. The instructors name was Rodrigues (I think). We started off with a wall climb with these three inche wide pipes. I think I'm afraid of heights. We did the warp wall ., Down ward ladder climb, salamander bar thing and other stuff I don't know the name of. It was interesting. Defintely a bit painful on the hands but awesome Movement . I have A decent upper body strength but I can see how these classes are not typically catered to beginners who are extremely unathletic. I'm not saying don't try it but it will be difficult because the class moves along quick. I stayed to watch the parkour class. The front desk guy said I could join the open mat for free but I was way too intimidated. Everyone seems to know what they were doing. I left soon after. Membership price was $150 for unlimited classes for a month. It's not bad. I might come again if I get brave. Haha. read more

I have been here a handful of times now for parkour classes. I am a dancer and was looking for a new activity to make myself more well-rounded in terms of fitness. I was also drawn to parkour because I wanted something that would help me be more brave! I was very nervous the first time I came as I am a complete beginner and very afraid of heights as well as more dangerous physical activities. However I ended up having so much fun and will continue to come back. Obviously the experience you have will depend on the instructor. I come to Alexa's class, and she is amazing!!! She is such a badass and is very good with beginners - she is encouraging and gives individual feedback, especially if there is a small class. The first time I came Orlando was subbing for her, and he was great as well. He took the time to really explain things and make sure we were doing things safely. Both of them want you to be safe and will never make you do something you don't feel comfortable with. That being said you will probably get some bruises. If you come with a willingness to learn and get out of your comfort zone and perhaps look like a fool you will have a good time. A couple things to note: the bathrooms and fountains on the first floor are all the way on the other side of the gym which confused me a bit the first time I came in. Also, when there is a substitute it doesn't get posted online so you might come and end up taking with another teacher. Also, They have ninja warrior classes but it doesn't seem like they happen very often which was disappointing to me. Overall I love it here and would recommend for anyone who is at least decently in shape and looking to try something different read more

I found this place through Classpass. I took the King of the Jungle course. The was stretching, climbing walls, monkey bars, etc. They specialize in tumbling& parkour. They also have a huge trampoline that you can practice on or jump into the foam pit. I will definitely go back again to do the tumbling. Our son attended for 5.5 days and was asked to leave (a.k.a. kicked out) without our knowledge. We were not called. We were not asked to pick him us. Him and his friend were rowdy at their Parkour class. Our son is a very good kid and felt terrible that this happened. He was also confused why he was abruptly kicked out like this. I would say it's borderline illegal to send off a young person like this without the parents' knowledge or ability to mediate or intervene. I would have left the office and treated this like an emergency, or called him and told him to stop getting "overexcited" during Parkour. I do not recommend this camp and find the way a slight altercation was dealt with to be beyond terrible. Safety first with kids. Involve the parents. Give us a heads up that something is going on. I took the Parkour class with Bryce and I had sooo much fun. I was the only newbie, but Bryce was very attentive and gave helpful tips to advance through the class. I felt safe and confident through each phase to do more. I was very nervous, but by the end of the evening, I did one of the warp walls and did a forward roll. As a child, my mother instilled a fear of cracking my neck when I tried to do any normal fun kid-stuff, so this was big for me. Everyone was also friendly. read more

A very disorganized process for booking that puts everything on the customer and has no accountability for the establishment. In order to book an event, you must send an email, the email tells you to register online and call to book. You call to book and it tells you to go online. You go online and email again... and, well, you get the picture. By the time you're done, the dates and times you were looking for were booked, based on what? I don't know. A completely infuriating experience. You would have to pay me to book an event at Brooklyn Zoo Gym. What a mess! read more

Had an Awesome time there! I did the Ninja Warrior class with my girlfriend. The instructor gave extremely insightful and accurate suggestions of how to improve my technique, and almost immediately after applying their suggestions I was able to improve 200%. I never thought that in a single class I'd be able to jump to the top of a huge wall by 'smearing' on it with the tip of my toes, or swing across huge distances of parallel bars, but I did because of the excellent suggestions from the instructor that made everything just work. After the class we were allowed to use the space to keep practicing, and by asking advice from other people there I was also able to learn the basics of a front handspring. Did a handstand class that I was told was for beginners. Topher, the teacher, was far from warm and fuzzy. I was clearly the beginner of the group and rather than spend time with me and teach me, he focused almost completely on the students that were already quite skilled. As far as I'm concerned a good teacher makes time for everyone, especially to those that are trying but struggling to get it. His first words of instruction--after suggesting I try a move-- were, "this is going to be a long hour..." I pretty much had to force him to help me. Lame teaching. What did I pay for? I loooove this place! The instructors are knowledgable and super helpful. I thought it would take me a while since I'm not used to these types of classes but I felt at home right away! I usually take Contortion and Handstand/Hand Balancing with Topher who I immediately fell in love with, his class is challenging but so much fun. With his instruction I've gained so much flexibility in such a short period of time, he is encouraging and definitely makes you feel like you can do all the moves no matter what your level, just gotta keep practicing! read more
