Rented this space back in Nov. 2013 for 1 week. It just happens to be in Brooklyn. However, the space is kept clean and it's a Beautiful dance center in the Brooklyn area as an option. Nice big classrooms and small rooms. Good setups for music and nice mirrors and bars. Staff is friendly. Boys changing areas are cramped and in full view when opening the door.

Sick of your boring gym routine? Looking for a different type of workout? I highly recommend taking a class at Mark Morris Dance. I've taken African Dance class here and it was amazing. You will leave sweaty, for sure. Now I'm taking a beginner's Modern Dance with Chelsea and it's fun as well. Having a live drummer and being in a professional dance studio makes you feel so pro (and I'm so not)! It truly is an incredible New York experience. There are workshops which are series of classes and drop-in weekly classes. I only recently learned that workshops can be taken on a drop-in basis as well if you don't wanna commit. $13 for drop-ins makes taking a class affordable as well. Classes are offered at all levels. The beginner classes that I've taken at MMDG are truly for beginners. I've had the experience of taking a beginner class at Peridance that had more professional dancers in attendance than amateurs. As others have mentioned, changing rooms are pretty tiny, so if you can avoid it, do. And if you're taking modern dance, be prepared to do some rolling around on the floor.

Truly love the dance teachers and classes but having to interact with the weekend staff at the front desk is quite the opposite

Great location, great atmosphere, and great classes. It's not over crowded like BDC or Steps

I love that place because I've been dancing there since I was 5 years old and I left when I was 9 because I got so many opportunities

Let me share a little story of my day today. :O) I went to the local park, a block away from where I live, this Sunday morning to do some simple exercises. Even though it was 38 degrees, it did not feel as cold as I thought it would be so I was in my shorts and tank top. As I did my Shaolin soft fist qi gong, I discovered that I was surprisingly balanced and stable with my movement, especially transitioning between forms on one leg. I was all the more surprised because I had not been going to the park nor doing these exercises for a while. The only exercise I have been doing regularly is the stretching class at Brooklyn Dance Lessons. I have been going to the class for exactly a year but only now do I realize how much it has helped me. Hence, I am writing this review. Stefaniya's stretching class focuses on stretching but also strengthening various parts of your body. Her warm ups go through every part of your body, even your toes. Ha! Stefaniya's words of guidance throughout the class of what to focus on also adds more depth to the actions; I have discovered myself improving in balance and posture while building strength and flexibility. After the warm ups, it changes from class to class what we will do so the classes are never repetitive and boring. Then at the end, as we lie on the yoga mats for a cool down, Stefaniya provides a very soothing voice to bring the mind to rest alongside the body. Her soft voice throughout that part of the class encourages you to be more introspective and find your own inner peace as she offers forth various questions of existence and self. You wake up at the end feeling mentally and physically relaxed. Well, that is my experience of the class so I hope you find it useful if you are considering the various classes at the studio.

My son's lesson was scheduled on a night he had a flight delay. He politely text the studio (the only way they will communicate) asking if they could push his time slot up because of his delay to which they responded no ~ he could either use whatever time was left of his 2 hour lesson that night (2 hours cost $399 which is absurd in itself) or he could take an open spot on the following day because there happened to be a cancellation. Because of prior commitments, my son could not take this spot but they offered no other option to rescheduling his lesson. When he expressed that he and his partner were really looking forward to the lesson and that no other option seemed unfair, BK Dance told him he was not allowed to come to the studio to redeem what would have been left of his 2 hour lesson because they felt threatened. My son is the most polite person in the world and his disappointment was certainly not a threat! My husband and I lost $399 down the drain because of their inability to understand the flight circumstance which was completely out of my son's control. Zero empathy was practiced and this place is a scam. When I looked more closely after hearing this extremely upsetting story, I came to see that BK Dance is not a real studio, it's just someone's apartment in Brooklyn that they push the furniture around in to make a buck and pretend to give a dance lesson. They are all actors. Go on Instagram, to see for yourself; have a good laugh and be happy I saved you the trouble of booking. Anyone looking to schedule a quality dance experience will be wasting their money and taken for a ride at BK Dance.
