I have not taken a dance class with this studio per se, but have taken classes here with an instructor who rents the space. The dance studio is small, but well kept with clean bathrooms, a clear entrance way and space to maneuver. The studio has nice wooden floors and large mirrors, always convenient for practicing dance and rehearsing a choreographed piece. I did take off one star because the space is quite small and when the room gets full it's difficult to "let loose" and branch out as a dancer. I found that it can feel cramped with upwards of 12 adults in the room. Nonetheless, this is NYC and space is hard to come by anywhere! All in all, a conveniently located, well maintained studio that is perfect for small dance classes and workshops.

I lost a lot a few years ago due to chronic health issues one of which affected my nervous system for years. As I found out my issues, I began healing and decided to return to dancing as a way to continue that. And now, as my body has started to regained health I can finally enjoy it. Salsa salsa gave me a place to go after I lost a lot. It gave me friends and a community and such wonderful, kind instructors that unknowingly are helping me heal. Very grateful for it.

Great place to learn, especially if you're a slow learner. Friendly staff, lessons are very clear at a great enough pace even for people with 2 left feet to learn. Studio is small enough (in classroom size) for instructors to go over moves as many times until you get it right but big enough for you to meet friendly people and practice dancing. I also do like that they have an intro in the beginning where you can practice everything you already know with a partner so you can fix your mistakes in the lesson. Private Lessons are a bit expensive in my opinion but instructors make it well worth it if you're behind and need to clean up on dance moves that you have trouble with. Overall very great place to learn how to dance and meet new people. It was a day that wasn't even for family observation, but I was able to hang out and really enjoy the class. Skye, for one, is an amazing teacher. The confidence of the performers and the intricacy of the choreography is unmatched as far as I've seen. The one thing I would criticize is those steps, OOOOF, those steps. The shows are usually held on the top floor so my gosh, those are some steep steps! But there's a chair on the mid-landing for those who need a break. How thoughtful! But hey, architecture is architecture, so some steps can't be worth taking a star off for. There's lots of talent to be drawn out and seen at BAX. Make sure you drop by!
