A refreshed Yee's China Garden- growing up in Kenosha- this was a main stay and beloved by all. They've kept the charm and updated it as well. Lunch menu includes an egg roll with almost all plates. Big drink specials and drink menu. Happy to see it busy here. They have a happy hour with $5 snackables.... Sounds like we need to come back! OG egg roll- was not as big as they used to be... and didn't seem as stuffed with veggies as before... but we liked them. I would say a very good egg roll. Their hot mustard was perfect- cleared the sinuses! Lo mein was tasty- I liked the brown sauce. Could have used more chicken- but I liked my plate. Kung Pao came with seasoned brown rice- enjoyed. Good dinner here the other night. We started with cocktails and potstickers. My friend ordered the hao chi cocktail and it was pretty tasty - reminded me of a key lime pie a little bit. I ordered a large Kirin ichiban and it was pretty light and refreshing. Our server was nice enough but didn't check on us much after dinner was dropped off. It took a while to get another cocktail, boxes and to wrap up the tab. She seemed to disappear for a while. Otherwise, the food was good, but not great. The potstickers were a little flimsy for being fried and the wonton soup was small with not a lot going on. The fried rice and chicken mei fun were good though. Liked the cookies at the end. You definitely come here for the ambiance and it's nice that they serve your meal in the dishes they do to keep them warm. read more

This is the third time we had this. First time it was takeout. 95 for the food and it was all crap. Sweet-and-sour chicken look like it was cooked two or three times some overcooked some burnt some falling out of the breading horrible the Mongolian beef that was my favorite was two out of 10. Don't get the garlic chicken and broccoli whatever they call it. That was an edible fried rice with beef. Had hardly any beef. Just all around shit show. I got the appetizer crispy chicken thinking it was just chicken out of stick or something. All that it was was sweets sour chicken. She could've told me that when I ordered because I did get two large sweet-and-sour chickens why in God's green earth. Would I need a small order? read more

I love Mr. Yee's for the wonderful service and delicious food. I love this restaurant more for saving the vintage charm from the previous restaurant. It has history that you can feel when you walk in. Now that there are new owners, we wondered how the food would taste. We hoped it was as good as Oriental Inn. Everything was fantastic. And dare I say, the egg rolls might even better! Our server was a cool laid back guy, who took great care of us. His relaxed yet playful demeanor made our meal even better. I hesitated between 3 and 4 stars because ultimately the food was tasty and fresh, and the service great, but it's just not what I'm looking for in a Chinese restaurant. I ordered the pork fried rice lunch special which comes with an egg roll, and General Tso's Chicken. The rice was browned well with lots of egg and pork, but was lacking in the aromatics that make it taste Chinese (a consistent theme). The General Tso's Chicken featured the same kind of chicken you would get with Sweet & Sour, with maybe a bit of chili spice and a slice of seedless jalapeño. There were only a couple of small broccolis florets, but the biggest issue is that the sauce is nothing like what a General Tso's sauce should be. The egg roll had good flavor, but again no aromatics inside, and a lot of celery. I also got a sesame chicken to-go. The dish essentially looked like my General Tso's minus the jalapeño, but also no sesame seeds. The crab rangoons in the to-go order were fine. All in all, the food was very high quality, but not very Chinese. This would be a good place to go for people with suburban Chinese restaurant palates, like your grandma who's never been to a big city. For this area, I'll stick with China House and Main Moon, which are still not "great", but they are at least much more authentic than this. read more

Mr Yee's Kung pao (chicken) was...interesting... I believe it was cooked Cantonese style. The chicken breast was almost shredded and certainly not cubed. There was no dark sauce in fact no thick sauce at all and the chicken was not fried in any cornstarch. However even though I don't like a lot of vegetables in my Kung Pao the addition of sliced jalapeño rounds was welcomed especially since the dish lacked any spicy sauce to speak of. The sweet and sour pork was crispy and delicious but the hot and sour soup was extremely thick to the point of being gloppy and the egg rolls while crunchy were stuffed with a few too many celery chunks. I may be a bit harsh to expect Sichuan style cooking at a Cantonese restaurant so I am certainly willing to return to try their chop suey and Egg Foo Young. read more

If you are craving Chinese food this is not the place for you. I moved here from Illinois where there was such a good variety of Asian food. My husband and I went on a Friday at lunchtime. The menu was somewhat limited. Prices were good and service also good. My husband was going to order pork egg foo young but was told they only make chicken and shrimp and that they were pre made. Huh? I ordered the chicken cashew which came with what was fried rice that was white rice with some soy. There was no vegetables or egg to be found. Rather bland. The dish had bland chicken , celery, a few mushrooms, and pea pods. The egg roll that came with the lunch was totally unrecognizable to me. I cut it in half lengthwise to see a ton of celery and some ground pieces of I'm not sure. There was NO cabbage or bean sprouts, no peanut butter. No way could these be called egg rolls. Wrapper for egg rolls was thick and hard to cut. Husband had bang band cod and said it was tasty. The gravy and veggies looked like the sauce served with my cashew chicken. I feel like they do not have an Asian cook because it seemed like nothing was authentic. It was a disappointment. read more

The egg rolls are consistent in that they are never crispy, always brown but flabby. I've been there a few times since it's been under new ownership, and the food is wildly inconsistent. Under the former owners, when you ordered something, you knew that exactly what you would get. Not anymore. For the love of God, please get Willy Yee in there to give them a refresher course on how his recipes should be prepared. read more

Yees Oriental Inn (previous name) was my favorite go to Chinese place in Kenosha as it was the only known restaurant to have Cantonese style pan fried noodles. I was sad when i heard they were closing but those emotions turned when it was announced that they would be reopening. The food tastes mostly the same however the sesame and orange chicken do not seem to be quite as crispy and flavorful as before and some of the pieces are large. Not entirely sure if the breading is the same but they are still good. The staff however is very friendly and accommodating. I had an issue with my last order and it was handled very professionally. I have never dined in here even under previous owndership but will definitely plan to in the future. read more

Great service and very friendly staff is just the first thing you'll notice. The food is authentic and made fresh. This is not your typical Chinese takeout. The place has been around too long to not be good. New owners but the same recipes. The crab rangoons are the best I've had and their OG Eggrolls are even better. My favorite dish is the Singapore Noodles with shrimp and chicken. Perfect spice and flavor combination with perfectly cooked thin rice noodles. My new favorite Chinese place. read more

We went when it first opened and were extremely disappointed. Prices jumped too much in my opinion. The egg rolls were loosely wrapped with little filling and the crab Rangoon was a pancake. I didn't know they could be so thin. The containers were almost filled loosely on the main courses. We figured since it was opening night they were just not yet prepared. We went back tonight. First time at Mr Yee's. Server inexperienced. No water, never asked what, if i wanted a drink. A bowl of soup is really a cup, i beg to ask what a cup looks like; A thimble? The beef, tomato, green pepper with white onion? I'd ask them to hold the onion as there was too much of it and, as a result, it overpowered the taste and presentation of the dish. Would I go here again? Maybe, there's 5 or 6 other Kenosha chinese food establishments to sample first before I pick the winner or two. I live in racine, a recent transplant from Chicago. Racine mostly sucks for take away. Their food is like slopping the hog. Mostly icky stuff! I'll continue to find the near perfect culinary favorites until I find the best for me, bbq, chinese, seafood, steak and of course, take away joints. Hole in the walls can be fun if service and food is spot on. Wisconsin, please do better. There's more out there to perfect beyond bacon and eggs. read more

Found this little gem while passing through on the way back from vacation. Outside of business has the classic vintage signage and the interior is immaculately clean while still having a retro vibe. My family really enjoyed our lunch specials: sweet & sour chicken, orange chicken and sesame chicken. The crab Rangoon we ordered was excellent as well! Egg rolls were definitely celery heavy. In retrospect, perhaps ordering carryout on Mother's Day is a mistake. No mom is home cooking so things are going to be iffy. I placed an on-line order at 4:30 asking for a 6pm pickup. It was a big order, we were feeding 9 people. We arrived a few minutes before 6 and were told that due to the size of the order, it was still working. We waited, and checked in and waited some more. We saw several orders that were placed after ours (based on the list at the cashier station) go out the door. The bartender helped check on our order. Finally, at 6:25 our order came out. Great. We headed back to feed out guests only to discover that one dish, ordered specially for the shrimp lover in the group, was not in the order. I get it, busy night, lots of orders and people working. It would have been nice if anyone at the restaurant (besides the over-worked bartender) had offered apologies or recognition that the the order was way late and incomplete. Luckily there are any number of good Chinese restaurants in Kenosha that appreciate and respect customers. We'll probably order there next time. read more
