I went here for lunch with my husband. We're new in town, & I marvel at some of the combination restaurants, like KFC/Long John Silvers, or in this case, Mr. Wok/Vienna Beef Co. Who would have thought that chinese and hot dogs would be a successful restaurant combo? I ordered the pork noodle soup for $7.25, & my husband ordered the daily special, which was chicken lo mein, almond fried chicken, fried rice, egg roll, & egg flower soup all for $7.99. The attentive waitress brought the food out very quickly, and kept our water cups filled - much appreciated on such a hot day. My soup had mushrooms, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, carrots, green onions, & cabbage in addition to the pork & noodles. The broth was weak, but some soy sauce improved it. I tried my husband's egg flower soup - I thought it was seasoned perfectly; he thought it was too salty. All the food is made fresh to order. We enjoyed it enough that we took a delivery menu, although my one complaint is that the food items aren't really described on the menu so the vegetables are kind of a surprise. read more

Let's give credit where due. Decent take out. Among many tries, tonight I had the Mr. Wok Lo Mein and Orange chicken. Both came home tender and flavorful. The other times didn't disappoint either. This was a comfortable, cozy and friendly place for dinner. The waitress was beyond helpful and accommodating, the layout is open and easy to navigate and the prices are great! The food was decent- what you'd expect for Chinese takeout but that's exactly what I was craving. They conveniently gave me a few take home menus so I can order next time and have it delivered. I'm rating this place a 1 Star not because of the service or the price or the place, but the food. When I got there to pick it up the building was nice and clean and I was greeted by a nice elderly lady and handed me my food and was nice. When I got home I opened up the box and was greeted by so much good looking food but I wasn't greeted by the taste or texture of the food. The chow mien noodles and to dry and made me thirsty really easily, the rice was okay and the only thing that was good. The orange chicken had enough sauce bought the more I chewed into the chicken the more harder it got to chewed to the point where I had to spit it out. I got another type of chicken that was way to cooked and impossible to chew. The egg roll wasn't that great either, kinda just tasted like plastic, the order came down to $14 and for the price is worth it... if your homeless, 1/10 unfortunately probably won't be coming back here. read more

I am very disappointed in my meal tonight. It was our 3 year anniversary and we wanted to go yummy but affordable. We chose mr. Wok for the first time. We got our food and presentation was amazing. Food quantity was amazing. The moment we put it in our mouths it screamed neglect. The noodles were flavorless and dry. The meat was beyond disgusting and I am not even overreacting. It was hard as a rock and almost looked overdone or as if it had been sitting out for hours on end. The rice was good, fortune cookie was good, egg rolls and wontons were good. However, they failed in the main course which is most important! Don't order this place unless you want to get cheap poorly made food. This place is amazing for the price! The people who work here are all extremely nice for one. Let me just say their BBQ pork is the BEST BBQ pork I have had from any Chinese restaurant in all of Spokane. It is nice and tender instead of the hard chewy crap you often get stuck with. They give you large meal portions so you better plan on bringing some home. Or do what I do a lot and order take out. I would suggest this restaurant to anyone! I ordered the Kung pow chicken, and i got a Togo container full of onions and peppers with like 5 pieces of chicken. Their fried rice was rice with soy sauce. There was nothing in it. For all the good reviews I was really disappointed. We brought the food back and got a refund. Will not be going there again. read more

I've been coming here for years; the food is always hot and very tasty. I usually get the spicy cabbage bowl with shrimp, which I really enjoy. Not the typical Chinese restaurant, but then as long as the food is to my liking, I'll keep coming back (usually once a week!) read more

I really don't get it. It's hard to mess up fried chicken with some sauce, but man this place went above and beyond in screwing it up. Ordered a combo with sweet and sour chicken, General Tso's, and Lo Mein. There were four pieces of sweet and sour. They had already became soggy and the sauce was not good. It tasted like they had been sitting for quite some time. I paid $3 extra for General Tso's. Took the first bite and it didn't taste deep fried. Just tasted kind of soggy. Continued eating and the pieces of chicken become progressively tougher and overcooked until I just stopped eating. It tasted like the chicken at the grocery store that sits in the deli warmer for hours on end and becomes oddly crunchy, but not in the way you would expect from freshly deep fried food. The sauce was again not good. The Lo Mein was overly salty. The noodles were mushy and overcooked as were the vegetables. I don't get it. I really wanted it to be good but what a letdown. Somehow got overcooked and undercooked food in the same dish that I paid extra for. The egg flower soup was oddly gelatinous as well. I'm not into asking for refunds on food...but maybe I should have. For $14 it wasn't all that much food either. Especially when I didn't even want to finish most of it. read more

I've been ordering food from Gilbert for ten years now. Being from Washington DC, home of some of the finest Chinese dining in the country, I got spoiled. Most Spokane Chinese restaurants are terrible. Gilbert's food is FANTASTIC! He's an incredibly nice man, too. He even used to make a special run to Deer Park to deliver to me at the end of his shift! After seeing that Mr. Wok had a 4 star rating, we thought we would give it a try. If I could give it a minus -10 I would. We ordered the Family special and brought it home. A portion of it we couldn't even identify what it was. There was some stuff in a small container that resembled mud...it didn't taste much better. The noodles had pretty much raw vegetables on top which were too hard to eat. The only thing decent was the fried rice. The rest was not good at all. Then the worst happened. My husband and I were both up all night sick. The way it hit us both, it was definitely the food. Even today, our stomachs are not feeling very good. We had things to do today but changed our minds, we are staying home close to the bathroom. So not fun. As if that wasn't enough, the girl that waited on us, on Friday, the 21st, in the afternoon, was not friendly at all. Very cold, very curt almost to the point of rude. Apparently, at lot of people do not know what good Chinese food is nor good friendly service. It definitely was not this place. Needless to say, we will not be going back!! read more

I have no idea how anyone could possibly give this a good review. If I could give a minus 1, I would and I really hate to give anyone a bad review. But, this place is just horrid. The pics look absolutely nothing like what we were served. We ordered the Family Dinner and nothing was edible. The "Special" chow mein was dried out yellowish ramen, one piece of soggy broccoli cut into 4 pieces, several little pieces of onion, NO other vegetables at all, topped with 2 paper-thin slices of limp, shiny funny colored pork, and 2 undercooked strong-smelling shrimp. The battered prawns were also very old smelling and mostly batter and no lemon (I asked). The sweet and sour pork was just more heavily battered old meat, chewy and tasted "off," and the almond chicken was same - old, reheated possibly many times and nasty. The bbq pork we ordered as a side was ok, but just ok. Service, if you can call it that was minimal, unfriendly, acted as though it was a burden. We took one bite of each dish, hoping for better, but all of it was inedible. We did not complain or ask for a refund and were polite, but we left and went somewhere else....ugh! read more

Mr wok was one of the only asian delivery places that would deliver to my hotel. It was pretty standard fair & hit the spot. I was disappointed to see that they didn't offer a teriyaki style dish. I ordered the Pork Fried rice & Generals chicken, it was pretty good but the generals was a bit spicy for my liking. The pork fried rice was very good & I ate it for a couple meals throughout my stay. The downside was the 5.99 delivery charge & then the 5.99 service charge. Which really made the meal pretty expensive for relatively standard asian fare. If I ate here again I would have to pick it up rather than delivery. read more

We were greeted when first walking in by a very sweet and patient women (poss the owner), not pushy at all and very informative! What a great first impression. Once in, we noticed the establishment was very clean and organized. The servings were huge, plenty to fill you up and enough to take home for lunch tomorrow! The food there is amazing! Go there instead of the wendy's or the McDonald's across the street. This is the closest that you are going to get to good Asian cooking in Spokane. I mean, honestly Spokane is horrible and there isn't really any places to go. I love to go there for special occasions or just when I'm craving some yummy healthy food.:) read more
