Great food! Staff was wonderful. Definitely worth it…read more Burria was fantastic. Not tons of seats, but good enough.

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

They use small diced cabbage here instead of onions and cilantro which I actually liked. Really enjoyed the smokiness of the black and red salsa.

We were greeted upon arrival and the gentleman that took our order was also very friendly. We ordered tacos and a quesadilla on a flour tortilla. The cashier offered to pack all of our salsas and additional items since we were taking the food to-go. The distance from the taco shop to home is around 5min so the food was still nice and hot when we were ready to enjoy it. I liked how the taco meat was not super greasy (we had asada, al pastor, and one tripas taco). My only downside, if I had to pick something, were the salsas. The salsas speak volumes to me from taco shops. The meat was good but nothing special so I think some amazing salsa could have easily put this first experience higher for me. The salsas were bad but to me, lacked complexity and some flavor. I'd definitely go back when I want an overall good taco but maybe not my first choice. It's worth a try if you are passing by

Stopped by on Taco Tuesday to check this spot out and tried a good mix of meats: lengua, cabeza,…read moreasada, and chicken. Overall, a solid taco experience with a few quirks. The tortillas were nicely fried, giving them a great texture and sturdiness that held up well to the fillings. The lengua and cabeza were the highlights--tender, flavorful, and cooked properly. The chicken was also solid and well-seasoned. One odd note: asada wasn't included in the Taco Tuesday specials, which felt a little strange given that it's usually a staple option. Still, the asada itself was decent, just not a standout. The salsas were good, with flavors that clearly felt inspired by (or very similar to) the classic King Taco-style salsas--familiar, comforting, and satisfying with the tacos. Overall, a dependable taco spot with strong tortillas, good salsas, and solid meats. Worth a stop, especially if you're a fan of lengua or cabeza.

On the other hand, they serve up a heaping plate of inconsistency. Three different items from their already small menu weren't available. No Al Pastor? Multiple beers tapped out? And this was early in the evening, not closing time. It made me wonder: supply chain problem, or did they just forget to go shopping? With only one server and one cook on duty, the whole place had a vibe of "we're trying, but please don't look too closely." Service was friendly, but the overall atmosphere felt a little uncomfortable, like something was just... off. As for the food: the Pumba tacos were excellent, the Gobernator shrimp taco was also good, and then there was the "side salad." Calling it a salad feels generous. It looked like someone raided the burger garnish tray and charged me $8 for it. Full iceberg leaves, a few tomato slices, a browning avocado, and purple onion just sat there staring at me, daring me to fight it. It was such a disaster I almost had to set up a GoFundMe page for it. The space itself is modern and vibrant, and the menu ideas are creative -- if only you can actually order them. Unfortunately, the potential doesn't outweigh the frustration. We won't be back.
