The legendary. The venerable THE Mr. taco. So many are put off by this little shack on the side of the road in an industrial park off Ogden. It ain't pretty. It ain't the cleanest. And it sure isn't healthy. But these are some of the best mexican foods money can buy. Get the number 11. I don't care if it's more expensive now, get the number 11. The perfection of the greasy cheese and excessive meat dripping on the mole rice as you eat this monstrosity is an experience in itself. If you can't like this or find it repulsive, I truly don't understand you, and I doubt we could truly be friends. Oh the chicken tacos are great too. Don't get the burrito.

Don't let the gruff exterior fool you, this place is a no frills, above average quality Mexican restaurant. Tacos, burritos and more. Family owned for 44 years. I had steak taco dinner, real chopped steak, with onions and cilantro, plus rice, beans, chips and pickled hot peppers with spicy vegetables.

Tacos are very good all made fresh in your face! Steak quesadillas are my favorite. Service is good friendly staff and fast. That place is small but leaves a big impact.

It's been a few years since I've last been here and it's really gone downhill. Tacos are flavourless and greasy. But I will give this place credit for ambience. It has an end or the world vibe to it. And great late night hours.

Heading westbound down Ogden Ave from the south loop is the way to go. Then once you reach Austin Ave you can't help but notice a little corner taco joint. So rather than test my patience in rush hour, I will treat myself to a taco dinner. 3 Beef Taco Dinner with Rice and Beans was plenty filling. Made fresh right in front of me. Staff was super friendly and checked on me to make sure everything was to my liking. They use double tortillas so no messy accidents. The rice was spot on good which is always one of the hardest food items in my experience to get right. Love the horchata and carrots!! Prices were fair and I plan on ordering a burrito next time.

Their burritos are almost the highest quality I have ever tasted. They are second only to La Parrilla in Lisle. However, I ordered a dinner recently and it was terrible. The food was over cooked, greasy, and some of it seemed to come from a can. They need to rework their dinners. Also, their tacos used to be wrapped in a different soft taco tortilla which had flavor. These current tortilla's have no flavor. With a little work, Mr. Taco can pull off a better menu. They are a nice staff of polite people. The service is good. read more

Tacos are good, the burritos are disappointing. Bland and no texture. Cheese is an extra $1.25. BUT the quesadillas are basically a gift from tipsy boozed Gods. A GIFT. Corn tortillas with melted cheese turned into tacos. Let me repeat... a GIFT. Remember that this isn't Subway, which means greasy and you can slightly feel your arteries clog as you eat. Go late. The worst mexican restaurant I've been to. Food is just mediocre. Once in a blue moon you'll get something good if there is a good chef but I don't recommend it. The owner is disrespectful and always angry at customers. A friend of mine forced him to refund his money once because he didn't feel welcomed. The restaurants on cermak are ten times better. Don't waste your time with this place. It's filthy inside, food not great, and shity owner. Surprised they're still open. read more

Love it! Burritos and tacos are amazing! Meat is so juicy. Not sure about all the other stuff. I usually only order that. A little on the expensive side. But hey you get what you pay for. Man man man where do I start! Place is filthy. Outside & inside.... I guess I was supposed to say carne Asada tacos because the steak was not chopped.. and had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. I usually love this place. Been coming here since they opened. But I have to say the last few times were a big dissapointment. The last time I went I noticed food not being properly kept so I left. Tonight I really wanted a ground beef burrito. That thing was so greasy my hands were dripping. There was a puddle of grease on my plate that made me sick. I know ground beef is greasy but this much, there was no excuse for. I have worked in this business for 35 years and have never seen food come out of a kitchen looking like that . Simply disgusting. Thankfully they have me my money back. Unfortunately no apology for the inadequate good. read more

i was born in cicero and have lived here for the past 8 years.. i do believe Mr. Taco doesn't receive all the credit they deserve somewhat... ok my bff loves their steak tacos... i enjoy the chicken burrito when i visit... i like how they cook the meat crispy and brown and their free carrots n peppers are awesome too. great flavor.. only drawbacks to me is they only take cash, cheese and sour cream are 1.25 extra and the parking lot gets crowded... think i will try a quesadilla next time read more

I have been going to Mr Taco for a very long time. Longer then I would care to admit. I'm not much of a Mexican food aficionado, I stick to tacos and burritos. At Mr Taco, it's always the #3, three chicken Taco dinner. The sauce they put on the rice is fantastic. I get the Americanized tacos, lettuce, tomato, with a dash of sour cream. The dinner also comes with refried rice, they put a few chips on them. If you like the hot carrots and jalapeño peppers. They have the best! read more

Really not all that it's built up to be. Why's this? Well... - the place itself is incredibly dirty. Really, filthy actually. The tables are covered in food as well as the floors. Thankfully the counters are high enough you can't really see what's going back in the kitchen - the food is BLAND. I'm a huge fan of all Spanish type cuisines - this hardly feels authentic nor is there much flavor at all. In closing, I do have to say the customer service is good. If you're looking for some greasy Mexican food late at night - here's your spot. read more

If you haven't been here yet, get your ass in the car and go. I grew up in this neighborhood and have been going here over 20 years. Sure, the place is a total dive, but why are you going here except to eat? If you want fancy, go to Lalo's on Harlem... But if you want the best Mexican food for not a lotta' cash stop here. If you are squeamish, get it to go! All my friends wind up here after a late night of bar hopping... But it's also great food if and when you happen to be sober. Try the Steak Quesadilla... Mr Taco is one of the best Mexican joints in Chicago. I have been going there for over 10 years and have never seen one trucker there. It is anything but a truck stop. It is however a place for people who have been drinking alot. Not because you have to be drunk to go there but because it is one of the few places open after 2am. There are no bugs. The place isn't anything to look at, It's a taco stand with a few tables. However it is clean enough for all the people working at town hall and in the health dept. they all eat there. Don't listen to the haters. If you want to go to a place for it's decor this is not for you. If you want to go for FOOD, this is one of the best places in or around the city of Chicago. read more

My parents have lived close to Mr. Taco for years, and we only just started enjoying Mr. Taco a few years ago; where had we been?! I love Mr. Taco, and think this is THE best Mexican around. I am a vegetarian and usually order avocado tacos and they're delicious every time! They melt the cheese in such a way that it's almost a crispy burnt (but a good burnt), and wow - is it delicious! This is a great late-night spot and a good place for a quick bite to eat. The only downside: they only accept cash, no debit or credit cards. read more

I unfortunately left the copy of the bill. Thr ceviche was 20$, the drink was 13$. How could 33$ jump to 43$? I think the tip was added and I did not notice, so I paid an extra tip. If this is the practice, I won't be going there again. The shrimp ceviche was not even good. The cucumber mojito was great. Disappointed with the food and high price.

Although I live in Cicero, I've only been here a few times. It's a decent place if you want a quick lunch or carry-out. I haven't had a problem any of the times I've gone there and I really enjoy their steak tacos along with the carrots they give you if you dine there. read more

One of my friends told me about this place a few days ago. I'm origonaly from Main and have never really been exposed to good Mexican food. Everything Ive tried so far is the best. The prices are cheap. The surroundings well....... No good but not unsafe. read more

The Steak quesadillas are the best!! My girlfriend loves the Lengua, I just can't get myself to eat cow toungue. The Cheeseburgers are actually pretty good too! Good late night stop! read more
