A myrtle Beach landmark! Did you know that Mr. Sub's has been in this same spot since 1979???? We were saddened by the closing of the other stores, especially the one in Surfside on hwy 17 and Dick Pond Road across from Ocean Lakes Campground. The decor is old & can probably use an overhaul to bring it up to now. It's a busy place. Since 1979, this family owned sub shop has uses the same toasted sub rolls and the same tasty grilled steak and mushroom with it's toppings. Bonus if you are a Pittsburgh steelers fan, so bring your terrible towel with you!

My sis and I stopped in here right before closing. It's a humble little place with Three Stooges sign decorations everywhere. Cute, you can tell somebody's a fan. It's run by a father son team I believe, and this sorta set up my expectations for great quality and service. Service was great, the boy who handled the register was friendly and got it down all right. I ordered the mushroom and steak sub with everything but vinegar and oil which was pretty good. I especially liked the way the meat was seasoned. My sister ordered a pizza sub, which was just sub bread with some pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices, I don't think that particular sandwich was worth the cost. It was really scant on meat portion, but all in all still decent.

Loved this non-chain sub shop! Excellent service and absolutely delicious cheesesteak subs. I had the steak and mushroom small sub. My boyfriend had the large cheesesteak. We had everything on them (followed the instructions of another yelper and "let the man make the sandwich the way he imagined it"). Wow!!! Best cheesesteaks we've both had in a long time. No wonder they've been around since 1979. Just perfect! I had the sweet tea, too. Delicious. We both highly recommend supporting local small businesses like this - especially when it's the best sub you'll have in myrtle beach!

I've been going to Mr. Sub for at least nine years now, and I've never had a bad experience. This place immediately gives me good vibes with great music and even greater subs! I recommend Mr. Sub to all sub lovers everywhere. It makes you feel like you're in the 70's and 80's with the atmosphere. The people are also very cool and friendly! read more

We live close to Mr.Sub and kept saying we should try it so tonight we did. The place was clean and the staff was very friendly but the quality of the food not so much! The steak and cheese sub in particular didn't even have decent steak on it looked more like steakums and only a couple pieces at that and barely any cheese on it ever though i asked for extra cheese. I honestly dont know how this place has gotten so many good reviews!!! read more

Great place for subs! Really good food. However they make you pay for refills on your drink, which I think is ridiculous. Not too many side options at all. Ingredients are fresh. Sometimes the staff is rude and sometimes they are friendly, it honestly depends on who is working. read more

Well first off the parking was impossible. After entering I found it to be old school diner style which was OK. The counter help was friendly and nice, but after seeing the "underwhelming" size of the sandwiches I really was disappointed about my choice. Figuring I'd order what I assumed to be the "staple" of sub shops, I ordered the steak and cheese sub. After ordering the large 12" with cheese, onions, and mayo and a non refillable drink for $12 bucks, I thought I'd get a winner. After being called up to pick up from the counter I found a squished roll, with a couple Steak-Ums (pressed and formed meat product) with a couple of slices of american cheese. Now whoever raves on this sub apparently has not enjoyed a real philly steak. I spotted a patron next to me eating what appeared to be a turkey sub, and it looked slimy. Place appeared real clean, and friendly but I think this place for me will be a one and done. read more

Just had a cheese steak sub from Mr. Subs and it was as good as I remembered. I ate there when it first opened up in 1979 and I was just graduated from MBHS. The staff was very friendly and our sub was fixed just as we ordered. The shop is showing some ware and is dated but so am I. If you want a sandwich just the way you orderd and better than you expect this is the place, and it is locally owned by the same family for 37yrs. It is as good now as it was 37 yrs ago and hope they can go for another 37 yrs. read more

Hun...? Yep, they're fine having Aunt Susie's makeup looking like Mark Shostrom, the Master Makeup Artist from the horror series "A Nightmare on Elm Street" movies, put it on for her. We all know also, because while we tried our best not looking at how Aunt Susie's makeup was contorting her face, it was like trying not to look at a car wreck. I even laid 7-5 odds that her false eyelashes would become a moustache, and won, while we all did exactly that to satisfy my beautatious date's Cousins' from Reno, fish wish, in Myrtle Beach. We stood in the lines outside, in the evening heat, at three different restaurants that we tried. Please remember to bring water, you'll feel better while you wait, wait, wait again, and then really wait, as if Mosses is going to appear from on high with the Ten Commandments. Instead it's, "Your table is ready" as you try to wake Grandma from her heat induced coma. While Villa Romano's bait, is to actually take your reservation and instead, have you relax on your tushy while having a cocktail in their comfortably A/C filled delightful ambience while you relive your day's perspective with friends and Family ("No, you missed it. First he...", ya know), while Mike fills the air with his sweet mellifluous musical notes floating by you for your audio pleasure, much like the feather in Forrest Gump. Their appetisers looked awesome however, this is an "Old World" Italian restaurant that offered their minestrone soup, and their Caesar salad which came with our meals, was very tasty, and paired very well with the bottle of wine from their varied, and well selected wine list, which we all shared. First, I read some of Villa Romania's great reviews on Yelp, before making a reservation, most especially, because I did not want anyone to have to repeat "THE LONG Lines" at our Fried Fish Palace, lol experience from two nights earlier. All of our entrees pictured below, were savoy, aroma enticing, tastebud thrilling, flavor forward, and exceeded all our sensory expectations which helped us all unwind while really enjoying our evening out together as it unexpectedly, evolved into an event for us all. While all their deserts sounded wonderful we were all completely full. But on our next visit, tiramisu, ice cream, and cannolis for all. So it's expensive, right? That is a great question Poindexter, but wrongo, my parsimonious friend. It was again, surprisingly affordable, and "I shall return" as General Douglas MacArthur once said. Why? Because sometimes you just can't find what will work for everyone, and that feels and tastes, just right. That's it! That is Villa Romana Restaurant, and we all were so gleeful and happy we discovered that fact in our visit to Myrtle Beach, SC. Manga... Enjoy!
