Mr Steak is one of many dining options at New Town Plaza in Sha Tin. To get there, head up to the seventh floor and keep walking towards the left. It's next to Vietnamese restaurant Nha Trang, which honestly I prefer over Mr Steak.
To be fair, Mr. Steak is a very spacious restaurant with comfortable seating. The couch areas are really roomy and great for gatherings. Service is not super friendly, but is no doubt efficient. The restaurant isn't huge but does accommodate quite a few tables.
My mother and I have been here a few times for their tea sets. I was there today and there were dessert options like apple crumble with ice cream, and also mini portions of mains like fish and chips and mushroom risotto. We came here at around 3:30pm and it was quite empty - less than a third of the tables were filled. Every time that I am here at around this hour, there is always a couch seat blocked by a partition where members of staff are taking a quick nap.
My mother ordered the fish and chips while I went for the linguini with garden salad and pesto sauce. The food came really fast - in less than ten minutes - but unfortunately was not up to par. My mother's fish had too thick of a bread crust coating and was quite hard. She asked for tartar sauce, and was given some kind of thick salad dressing instead. My linguine was really hard - not undercooked, but it was as if they had fished it out of the pot just as it got the slightest bit cooked. I thought the portions were reasonable for a tea set, but the quality of the food really was disappointing. I've been here for tea sets before - though the last time I was here was a few months back - and always found that the food was not fantastic, but at least was average.
I have been here once for lunch and thought it was a little expensive for what it was. There are better restaurants at New Town Plaza, so I don't think I will be back. read more
