I haven't been to BG in probably 15 years but when I was in town to drop off my son at camp for the week, we had lunch here first. Their wings were the first ones I ever tried as a student at BGSU in 1990. And they are still the best wings ever! I didn't appreciate it at the time, but if you live close to BG you are lucky to have Mr Spots nearby. I had the mild - which is their traditional buffalo sauce and it's the best I've had, and the Wise Guy which is also very tasty - a bit tangy and with good heat. They are generous with the blue cheese dressing. And the celery is real fresh super crisp and cold, not wimpy leftover celery like you get at some places. The woman at the front counter was patient, and so so helpful as we debated sauce flavors and what beer to get. There are about a dozen tables and the space is very clean. This is the spot for Philly Steaks subs. Order the combo with waffle fries and a cherry Coke! This is my favorite BG sammich spot! Food was excellent! We had the steak hoagie with double meat. The girls working were so nice. They helped us create a sammich for my 6 year old that wasn't on the menu! It was a little messy but it was during a downtown arts festival and they were packed. I just go w/ the flow...we ordered through Grub-hub... one of the sandwiches we ordered was a BLT... when we received the sandwich, the bacon was raw... we called to express our concern and we are told the bacon is precooked... all bacon is precooked to some sort... they hung up the phone on me... we were given a RAW BLT Sandwich and no accountability for the mistake. I have preached Mr Spots for a number of years, not likely to preach again... Grub-hub did refund our money on this particular sandwich which was appreciated. Final words, Do better!!! read more

I've stopped here two times now and I don't plan on going again for a third. The service and food are both awful. The meat tastes like it's been reheated in a microwave multiple times, it's dry and tasteless. The service is slow. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

Over my last few visits, I noticed the quality of the food diminishing: not as much meat in the sandwich, the fries not cooked all the way, etc. Then today, the guy who cashed me out charged me a 3% processing fee even though I paid cash and then didn't give me the correct change back. I called and asked to speak with Bruce and it turns out Bruce is no longer there. Everything made sense! Bruce was the one who insisted on things being done "right" every time! He knew I liked less salt on my fries, so that's how he did it every time. And now with Bruce gone and the experience today, I don't think I will be frequenting this place nearly as often as I did when Bruce was there. read more

Stopped in today with my girlfriend for some lunch the food was great! The manager however was abusing her employee and yelling at them in front of the customers! She kept on yelling at him and talking down to him over and over. She needs to know how to treat her employees. When I was in college at Ohio U, my girlfriend went to BGSU, and every time I came to visit Mr Spots was our late night go to. While she is long gone, Mr Spots is still going strong. Came in for the first time since the nineties and their food was everything I remember. Ordered the steak hoagie and the meat was a mound, double what a lot of places will give you. The waffle fries were of equal size and were fresh and crispy with just the right amount of salt. Portion size is the positive but unfortunately they charge you extra for onions and peppers and it sucks when you don't get cheese, mayo, and marinara. You would think food costs would tilt toward their favor, but charging more for less is the American way. Another plus was the place was clean and tidy and the service was fast and efficient. A different minus is the service was ambivalent and indifferent, we were there and so were they. There was no welcome or hello, small talk, thank you, or come again. The guy at the counter spent more time talking to the employees about nothing than he did the customers about something. There were no smiles and there was no love. I will go back and hope for a better day on another day. With that said I would also recommend them for their food and not for their profiteering or customer service. read more

First time dining in, second time eating their food. For starters, the second I approached the booth, I was greeted with terrific service by the bearded tattoo gentleman. After some moments of bantering and joking while we decided, he gave the analogy that he holds up the restaurant like the world, thus the nickname I'll use for him, Atlas. He was a genuine bona-fide nice guy willing to help us out in what to order, giving us insight into portion size and what would feed the party or not. He sure saved me from ordering too much sauce haha. As for sauce, they have handfuls of options. The mild is not very spicy, so if you want a little zing but not the whole bang, go for it. Vice versa, if you want to feel the burn, go up a level. But at the same time, he was cheerful and open to come back and order more with him no hassle. Some of the best service from Atlas, and he certainly had gained my loyalty, because I am eager to return when hungry downtown. I took advantage of the daily Tuesday special, $3 for 3 Chicken strips ,with the ability to order ad many as wanted. Alongside the best strips in town, I got 2 orders of fries. One came free if you bring the BG pamphlet coupon they send out once in a while. I would say that you get way more fries when you order take out or delivery, the "sack of fries". One order of fries and 3 strips would feed one somewhat hungry person. If you are really hungry, I'd recommend more strips and a fries order. In example, I ate 5 strips and maybe 1.5 of the fries and was full. You can easily share two fries with two people. I believe Wednesdays are the 50 cent wings days. There is also a deal on Monday, but alas I cannot remember it. The soda drinks are refillable, and there is also a few selections if tea. You can also order from a selection if two beers I believe, but I do not recall the brands. There is WiFi from a variety of sources, the public library, Howard's bar next door, the city (iffy), and Spots itself. Furthermore, you can place one of the rare double lure Pokestop spots in the city to benefit. The prices are extremely affordable, and there are always plenty of seating options. I cannot believe it took me so long to try Mr. Spots! And to add to the surprise I have been depriving myself of a quality location that only exists in BG and Ann Arbor, MI. read more

Terrible service. After how rudely we were treated when they messed up our order, I will not be returning. When I went back in to inquire about fixing our order (we had ordered Barbecue, and got medium buffalo wings...), the cashier put in an order for the correct wings, and we held on to the medium ones. After waiting another 10minutes or so, she brought out the barbecue and asked for the old wings back...We asked if we could keep them, and she said she had to ask her manager, then came back and said we had to give the wings back. We asked to speak to the manager to clarify, and he insisted on taking back the wings they messed up. We asked again if we could just keep the wings they messed up, since we had to wait for them to fix it, and he was very rude and insisted that we could only get "what we paid for". Fine, I get that, but the way he said it suggested that we were trying to trick them into getting free food, and suggested that we were stupid and didn't remember what we ordered. I went there on a late night. The environment at 1am is relaxed and chill. All the people were really nice and it looks like the employees got along well. I ordered the Philly Original. I've had better Philly cheeses in my day and this was not good. Another reviewer said the steak was Stake-ums and he was not far off. I have been coming to Mister Spots for years and usually have a good experience. Not this time. My husband and I waited over 40 minutes for 2 sandwiches and an order of fries. We saw 5 different tables, that came in after us, get their food before we got ours. My husband and I both went to the counter to ask about our food at different times and were rudely told that "it was on the grill". I believe he was told sorry once and then basically ignored. Bowling Green has plenty of restaurants that I miss from my college days, but Spots is the place I absolutely must visit each time I return to BG. I first tried Mr. Spots back in 1992, as a freshman, and it was only $5 for the Philly Original Meal Deal. It's now almost double that ($9.25 or $9.50, I believe), but the quality remains the same. In addition, they now serve 20 oz. bottles of pop instead of 12 oz. cans. I preferred the cans, but at least they're not giving me less for more. Also, the meal deal comes with more delicious waffle fries than I can eat. I've never, ever, ordered anything but the Philly Original Meal Deal, so I can't review any of the other menu options, but I've always heard good things. Overall, it's one of my favorite meals. I wish they would open locations elsewhere, but it's always a reason to get back to my alma mater. read more

Mister Spots did not disappoint, although I was pretty skeptical walking in at 6:30 to a completely empty restaurant. I had the Steak Hoagie meal. The steak is cooked up with some super gooey cheese and onions, and was actually really good. The fresh lettuce and tomato on the hoagie balanced out the cheesy deliciousness quite well. We have been here before and had 3/5 experience. Im from Philly and love my cheesesteaks. I have no issue with them, they are not original, and dont give enough meat..but i can deal with that. What i cant desl with are overcooked crispy fries and completely dirty tables and floors in the entire place. Mr. Spots is now my favorite sub shop in Ohio. Not only is their food delicious, but the staff is cheerful, considerate, and take the time to make sure their customers are getting the most out of what they have to offer. The counterperson who took my order answered my questions, and took care to ask a first time visitor how they liked their food prepared, making suggestions that were sensible, and not an obvious attempt at upselling. The food is rather banal and overrated. My sandwich didn't have much meat on it and the staff didn't really seem to care to be there. My friends always go there on a sentimental journey when they come back to town, but there are better places to eat in BG. I think it's a little pricy for what you get too.
