Humble in appearance and has no inside seating but the food is fantastic! Owners are two brothers who are on-site, and who prepare and provide you with your food. I had a very generous fish sandwich (again, hot and fresh) on a really great hoagie bun (soft but not too soft, tasty, perfect), a generous helping of seasoned French fries, some salad, and some super tasty fresh hummus with fresh authentic pita bread. Those last are so good that I bought some extra to take home. The hummus is almost creamy, with a nice taste to it, and would definitely go well with chips or veg. They are know for their award winning gyros, and I saw meat roasting on a spit that almost made me hit up for seconds but tbh the food I got was filling! Great people! Large quantity of food. Pricey!! Packed nicely. The chicken for my salad was very dry. Greek Salad was large and full of different vegs, but I wish they wouldn't put the cores in it. I stopped at South Side 6 in BG today, and honestly think I had the best falafel I've had to date. I got the super falafel which was this monstrous sandwich pictured here! It was loaded with tabouli, falafel, and hummus! I couldn't eat it all! Having moved to bg from new mexico, I haven't had as much exposure to middle eastern food as people in this area. South side 6 is one of my favorite spots now. They've got great quality food, and you get a ton for the price. The meat has always been good cuts, not chewy or fatty, and cooked well. The Greek fries are next level. Hummus is on oar with what I've had from most restaurants, I'd say. I've tried a couple dishes now, but have only had the food delivered, so I can't comment on service or atmosphere. The food here is just too good. We always get gyros and fries. Fries are always crispy and well seasoned. They gyro meat is so yummy. You can get lamb, chicken, or mix. They were very apologetic for being busy (food took 15 minutes longer than anticipated) but when I say the food is well worth the wait. I am not kidding!! Nice little place. Package store and grill. Bought 4 1/2 pound burgers, a chicken sandwich, super huge fries, large hummus, large tabouli, and a 6 pack of Kronnenburg for $70. And if I were giving out stars for value only, they would get 5. Everything was made fresh while I waited. No problem there. Burgers are grilled over an open flame and the sandwich is very well done. Recommended, we had to try this Lebanese spot in a nondescript corner building, but with neon lights. I thought is was a drive-thru carry out. This is a food/beer/snacks carry out! Order food at the counter. Choose all kinds of imported beers and wines. There is lots of candy, pita bread, baklava and more on the counter, plus a small cigar humidor. The spit with lamb meat is turning over the grill. This place is cool. The picture menu is on the wall, but I asked for a menu and took it to the car for us to decided on dinner. We ordered two entrees to split in half in two carry-out containers. That way we each got two grape leaves and two falafel balls, and a taste of everything. We got the South Side Grill Chicken that came with rice and a wonder red sauce. Also, the vegetarian combo included hummus and pita. Wow! The flavor of Mediterranean spices was amazing. Wow! If you go to BG and dont go to SS6, consider driving off a short cliff. People dont go because it is a convenience store, at best. However, if you venture in, what a find! I must admit, I am self-proclaimed gyro junkie, but this is good! You walk in and the family owns and operates the business. The gyro (both lamb and chicken) is spinning right behind the counter. Yum! I typically get the gyro because it is the size of a small chicl and only costs $3.99. I add feta cheese, a welcome addition for an extra $1.00. If you want some extra sauce, it will set you back 50 cents. If you get it as a meal, they add fries which I hear are quite tasty. The combination of juicy gyro meat, onions, tzatziki, tomatoes, and pita is just so fantastic, I wonder how I am not 500 lbs. I have also had the kafta, hummus, and home-made chips. Everything is awesome!! Be forewarned -- its only takeout. They do accept credit cards. You will food coma pretty much immediately, but you will be better off for it. What got me was the following: The meat was incredibly flavorful and had a great texture, almost light if such a thing is possible for gyro meat The yogurt cucumber sauce is amazing and has some garlic in it. A perfect compliment. Like all great middle eastern sandwiches, the pita is toasted on a flat press before being wrapped up and sent out. We really wanted to like this place and from the 5 star reviews, we expected more. First this place has an excellent beer selection. They have all the domestics and even some top shelf craft selections. If we stopped by for beer this would have been a 5 star experience. Instead, we came for food. When we are road tripping and use yelp and find a 5 star local spot, we have to stop. The food we received was definitely not good. I mean I didn't even eat all of it and I usually eat all of my food. The wife got a chicken shawarma sandwich. It looked great but when she ate it she keep saying it was burnt and had a weird taste. I tried it and I came to the same conclusion. I love meat that has a nice charr to it, but this was burnt. It also had a weird seasoning on it that I couldn't identify. I got a chili dog wit mustard and onion. I thought it would be promising but I was wrong. The dog was bland and was lukewarm, the chili was bland, the bread was cold and overly thick. I found these guys on YELP. Don't let the look of the place scare you off. Actually, if you are not from the area - like me, you will drive right past it. Its really a beer store that sells food in my opinion. The people working last night were just amazingly friendly. I'm pretty sure one of them was an owner. He was genuinely happy that I was there buying his wares. Its refreshing to see that. (Isn't that a shame?!) Seems like it would be the norm. As to the food, I ordered the beef gyro combo plate with fries and baklava. I also wanted to try their hummus so I ordered that and with a coupon on their website, got free pita chips. It was nice of them to honor the coupon electronically. The gyro was HUGE! Loaded with meat. You cannot go wrong here if you are hungry. I thought the gyro was very good but not excellent. The seasoning was just "off" a little. Not sure how to describe it. The sauce was excellent. The fries were nothing spectacular. They were those breaded/seasoned fries that restaurants buy in large frozen bags. At least that is how they tasted. But, I was not there for the fries. My tip to the owner, go the extra mile and serve fresh cut fries. Oh so good. The baklava was also excellent. And, the perfect after dinner snack to wipe out the taste of the onions. Not complaining... it is what it is. The hummus was also very good. I think their website says the best hummus. I give it an 8 out of 10. But then again, I grew up in a house where hummus was made fresh. However, I would also say - blasphemous as it may be - Trader Joe's has better hummus.
