Tropical Smoothie Cafe

Brought the kids here as a treat for running errands with me. Unfortunately all of our smoothies…read moretasted freezer burnt and had large chunks of fruit in them. Very disappointed in today's visit. Usually the service is great and smoothies are even better. They didn't even leave the window open while they were checking me out today.

Pros: First off, I just wanted to say...I'm From New York…read more So we don't have Tropical Smoothie Cafe Up near us. So I Hope my Review doesn't come across as "biased" just because I've never had it before, nor heard of it. I was passing through and I'm currently 8 months pregnant. My Unborn Son LOVES Smoothies, and I didn't want to Eat Fast food. I wanted something clean and Nourishing so I opted in for the Berry Blue Smoothie with Yogurt and Bacon Avocado Grilled cheese. I was NOT Expecting the sandwich to be THIS BIG! It was Humongous!! And the special sauce that they put on it gave it such flavor and tang. The Avocado was Super Fresh and the entire sandwich was just Plain Delicious!! The Smoothie was phenomenal as well. You can REALLY taste the fresh Fruit and Blueberries! I Wish I wouldn't have ate here because it made me realize how much New York Sucks and how Much we need a Tropical Smoothie Cafe up there. Con: The only down side to it was I waited 25 minutes in Line. Almost 30 minutes in Line. But maybe it was just a super busy day. But that's not going to affect the rating I personally give them because I understand work can get swamped. Plus the lady in front of me ordered half the menu for her and her three kids. Once I got up to the window they got me Set up within 4 minutes. So I'm Positive it was the People in front of me. I will come back if I ever pass by a Tropical Smoothie Cafe! Thanks for the great first time Experience!

Sam B's holds a special place in my heart. As someone who grew up in Bowling Green, it feels like…read moreit's been around forever, and while I know the ownership has changed over the years, the spirit is alive and well. The food is surprisingly dialed in, with high-quality ingredients and deep know-how in the kitchen. Surprising only because the atmosphere and service are a little rough around the edges. Things like chipped plates take a lot away from the otherwise expertly prepared food, and the urgent nature of the service detracts from a proper date night. That said, BG is a college town, and Main Street is the epicenter of drunkenness, so I imagine it would be difficult not to have things set up the way they are -- a place built for the pace of a college town, focused on high-quality but quick meals. And maybe I just need to come back in the summer, when the college kids are gone and the townies take over. But seriously, Sam B's is almost perfect. And somehow that actually does make it perfect, for what it is.

Went here with our daughter for a BGSU Presidents' Day event. Street parking was easy. We did not…read morehave reservations, in the future I would make them for any event, it is small but cozy. Menu has a lot of options can and vegetarian included. Has seafood which I love. Drinks, we started with a Long Island Iced Tea, it was good. Hubby had something like an Elizabeth Taylor IPA? Not sure if he got the name right but the aroma was lovely and it tasted lovely as well. As far as apps daughter ordered the Brussel sprouts with bacon. She and hubby tore it up. It did come really late, it was served with the meal which I will explain later. But, big hit. We all shared my cup of French onion soup. We all had different takes on it. I would deduct one star but clearly everyone has different likes regarding French onion soup. Don't get me wrong the taste was there, but it was very thick like a stew. The croutons were actually store type croutons so that with the thickness, the croutons were hard. Daughter loved that, I did not. Sooo potato tomato (pronunciation). So if it sounds like thick French onion soup with crusty croutons are your thing, you will love it. Entrees, daughter had the goat cheese raspberry salad, she was very happy with it, looked ver fresh. I had the seafood risotto, I'm always hesitant because you can really mess that up in so many ways. I have had many that had a fishy taste, this certainly did not. The kitchen was out of scallops so it was served with extra shrimp. It was excellent. One does pause before ordering seafood when surrounded by farm fields smack dab in Ohio, but they handled it nicely. Hubby had the salmon pesto risotto, while I did not love it, he did. The Brussel sprouts as I mentioned came out with dinner. The service I will say was slow. Our waiter, Seth, apologized and explained that they were not expecting so many people on a Sun night.I would have deducted a Star for the slow service but I felt that he made it right by apologizing, explaining, and did offer a free dessert, which we did not take. We will return and make reservations next time.

We were able to taste from a small selection of draft craft beers. We chose a wheat and cider but opted for the cider. Good taste. Not too sweet and a definite aftertaste of berries. Yum. The service was so quick but it was a Monday afternoon before school began. My friend ordered a churrizo burrito. I ordered a chicken wrap with fries. This place offers a coffee shop, craft cocktails wine and beer along with an unusual selection of healthy ( salads and grain bowls) to not so healthy (smash burger and fries) food. I love the spacious rooms and woodwork everywhere. Wish this place was nearby.

The atmosphere is not typical college and comes across a bit more classy. The beer selection was decent and the brew I chose, Interstellar Overdrive was well balanced and excellent. In a college town the only way to differentiate yourself as a restaurant is to be different. Juniper offers some unique options and specialities. Not necessarily your typical brew food. I had the wings with the house sauce and they were very good. My wife had the burger (with a house sauce) and it was tasty. Prices are reasonable and our server was great (a business major). Gauging a restaurant in a college town by its service is tricky because of the constant turnover so maybe we were lucky or management has a good eye when hiring. Definitely recommend stopping by fig you are in the neighborhood.
