I contacted them immediately after a storm, indicating that I'd like to get them to replace a skylight that had blown off my roof. They initially declined, and referred me to a roofer with horrible reviews on Yelp. I then indicated that I didn't need the work done immediately, and was willing to wait in queue. They then proceeded to take my information, address, satellite image of roof to confirm skylight, etc., and they told me they'd follow up with an estimate. Then I waited a week, and didn't hear anything back, so I followed up to get an ETA on the estimate. Their response was that they didn't work on condos (this is a house), and I told them that they were mistaken. They then told me that they are 'totally booked up after the storm,' which per above, shouldn't be an issue. Not sure how/why this company got such high reviews, but glad I got a glimpse at their 'real' customer service before hiring them- I had actually been considering having them replace all my skylights to match the replacement. 2 stars for being responsive- 2 stars also for totally wasting my time, and not being detail oriented. Ladd was incredible - he came out to the house in the middle of a week of rain (and two days before Christmas) to help us with a leaky skylight. He effectively covered the skylight as a temporary fix until the rain stopped. He returned about a week later and resealed all of our skylights. I would highly recommend Ladd for any skylight or venting needs. He is very detail oriented, has experience with all aspects of house construction, and is just a great guy to work with. I had 2 older oddly sized bubble skylights that needed to be replaced. They were in a tricky part of the roof to access. While he was up there, he noted that one was a 1/4"longer than the other and custom ordered to those measurements. We have a lot more light with the new low profile clear skylights and no leaks. Ladd, although any good works are to be appreciated you must see from the point of view that I called multiple times , provided my info, and have not to date been contacted in reply. I did get that you were reopening January 8 (as I stated in review to let others know) and then as of the update to my review in February I have never ever received any calls back and you had my information for sure. Yelp is about reviewing experiences with a business and that is what I did- you must see that regardless of why you were away (for just a part of the time actually) that is no reason to completely not respond to someone. I've known Ladd for 20 years and always wanted my silly old single layer plastic dome skylights replaced by him. Little did I know that I was flushing money down that drain called PG&E by doing other projects first and waiting years!! All this time I could have been having a lower gas bill, a warm living room, and comfortable bedrooms. The temperature difference is astounding! Can't say enough good about Ladd We had a shade installed for a skylight in our kitchen by Ladd a couple of years ago Recently the leading edge of the shade started to come loose. I thought that this issue should have been something covered by the manufacturer. My wife called Ladd and the next day he was at our house. He agreed that it was something that should not have happened, he said he would check with the manufacturer and get back to us. Two days later Ladd called my wife and said that the manufacturer would not fix it and said that he would be over the next day to take care of it free of charge. Ladd is a quality guy. About a year ago we had some leaking skylights and roof issues on a guest house. Ladd was responsive and reasonable and took care of the issues. More recently, I noticed evidence of a leak inside the main house. Called Ladd and he came out within just a couple of days. Turns out that several of the skylights were failing (he tooks pictures to show me) and we would have had a real mess next time it rains (IF it ever rains again) had we not caught these problems early. Ladd was able to fit us into his schedule that very week and took care of all of the skylights. Turns out when the job was done, in the course of conversation we mentioned another issue with one of the skylights and then discovered that the fix for that required something different than he had already done. Right there on the spot, he took care of it and didn't even charge us any additional amount for the extra work. Been in the business forever, and really knows his stuff. Ladd is probably the most knowledgeable guy out there when it comes to skylights. We had 3 sets of very old Skylights that needed to be replaced and he was at the house within just a couple of days to assess the situation and take measurements. We decided to replace the 3 old skylights with the solar-powered ones that he recommended and we could not be happier. We can look at the stars at night and can open them up in the summer for cooling ventilation. We also decided to replace a light with a tube tunnel so we could get some natural light in our windowless kitchen. The way our roof came down into the crawl space meant Ladd and his crew needed to do some cutting and modifications to make it work and they did an impeccable job! We had him replace two 70s era skylights with new ones that allow us to eliminate UV rays in the house, open/close them and have blinds. Really made a difference. I had a Velux solar tube skylight in our outside covered entryway that started leaking whenever it rained. I did not want to call just any contractor, I wanted somebody that specialized in skylights. I started searching Yelp and immediately came up with Mr. Skylight, Ladd Bogdonoff. He had solid 5 Star reviews ... All rave reviews that sounded almost too good to be true. Plus I read he had a roofing background and has been specializing in skylights for over 20 years. Obviously he was the guy I needed for this job! I called and left a message. He promptly called me back and within several hours of the initial call he was up on the roof doing an inspection. He immediately identified the problem. Believe me, knows his stuff. I showed him several interior skylights that I had minor problems with and by that evening I had a detailed estimate for all three skylights. I decided to take care of all of them at once as his estimate was quite fair. Ladd completed the work promptly. He was super careful protecting wherever he worked and was very clean. I now I know why he is rated so highly on Yelp. Five stars is not enough for somebody of this caliber. He is definitely the guy to call if skylights are involved. read more

Mr Skylight, as advertised, knows everything about skylights in general, and particularly about Velux skylights, who have been making them for more than 3 decades. I had 5 similar sized skylights made by Velux that had been installed about 10 years ago, but I wanted the solar powered actuators for both the skylight and the blind for some very high ceilings. He was very professional, kept on point as we discussed, he leveled with me from start to finish and delivered exactly as promised through supply chain issues and a detailed order process so we got exactly what I wanted. Then, once the product was delivered and all was accounted for, he scheduled within a week the install time, and brought the right crew with the right skills, supervised them himself and participated in particular parts of the installation that were to his spec and within his install window. The crew was on time, work progressed as planned and when there needed to be some improvisation, he directed that work through to delivered and installed ahead of schedule. He is a very detailed person who planned everything out in advance and for any situation. While we moved the furniture and put away the ceramics and took down the artwork from the walls, he protected everything in the house, provided walkways for team, and even provided for dust just in case though they made VERY little dust. The man is a master, and deserves all the accolades you see here for his services, his logistics and his attention to the smallest detail. The results are stunning! You cannot tell the work had been done, no touch up paint jobs in both rooms. Actually I can tell because he showed me where he did one little touch up, but other than that, both the roof side and the interior is flawless. I'm guessing the roofwork will be exactly like his interior work (functionally) because I watched them do it. The Velux flashing kit is not for the faint of heart, it has many pieces but Ladd knows that system and has done them for decades. Our low pitch roofs will test the water security but I have super high faith in his installation. I'll return here once the rains have come to report but I'm going to lose exactly no sleep over it. He's an expert roofer besides being MrSkylight. I've hired a lot of contractors including roof, solar, and just about every trade, and his planning, his attention to detail and his sense of accomplishment for his customers is all top notch. You can't get a better job, at any cost, and his prices are right there with everyone else. AND, he fills out paperwork for your CPA to claim all the available tax deduction for the job.
