The name says it all- Mr. Skylight. Ladd is a master craftsman for skylights. He designed and installed a skylight system over our large atrium. Its been15 + years, no leaks. no problems. He recently refreshed some of our older skylights. Again, superior work. These days, it is not often that you get expert service that is responsive, responsible and reasonable. Five stars for sure!! read more

As a person who routinely gets multiple quotes before embarking on home improvement projects I can confidently say that I have no regrets in getting only a single quote for the recent replacement of two skylights in my home. Let me tell you why. * My initial call to Mr Skylight was returned within minutes. * An appointment was scheduled and honored. * A written quote was provided later that day. * The quote seemed very reasonable. * The proprietor of Mr Skylight knows his stuff. I didn't act quickly but when I finally reached out again with questions I received an almost immediate response. When I had more questions the response was equally rapid. Scheduling the job was easy and the workers showed up on time, finished promptly, and left the work site immaculately clean. The proprietor, Ladd, was on site and involved with the entire installation. He was my sole contact from initial contact through installation. I have zero hesitation in highly recommending Mr Skylight for replacing old skylights, installing new skylights, or trouble-shooting skylight-related issues or concerns. I wish all businesses were run like this one. Great job! read more

Mr Skylight - One of two new (replacement) skylights in my home. Great service and work from Mr Skylight. - Roofing Near Me - San Anselmo, California

Mr. Skylight has a wealth of knowledge! He was responsive to my many questions and was able to improvise to create a solution to our roofing problem. He diagnosed areas of concern, completed repairs, and provided me with information to address future issues. read more

Ladd is absolutely wonderful to work with. He helped my husband and I with our 20 year old skylights and gave us a lot of helpful information and even did a video call to see the units and provide guidance. Amazing customer service! read more

Ladd at Mr Skylight called me early the same morning I sent him an email setting out our problem. He listened to my description of the problem we were having with a skylight, troubleshooting the situation and giving us suggestions as to what to try in order to fix the problem ourselves, all with great good humor. He followed up the call with a helpful text. The next day I followed his suggestions and they solved the problem, showing me he fully understood the situation and the possible solution. The way he handled it probably cost him business but he did the right thing! All in all, he was fabulous and I would recommend him, and Mr Skylight, to anyone for anything! read more

Smooth, quick, and clean! We needed to replace an old skylight in our dining room that had cracks and was attracting gnats. We received a quick consultation, fair quote, and ordered the custom size right away. Professional, great cleanup, and reliable. We definitely recommend them! read more

We are so glad we found Mr Skylight on Yelp! The excellent reviews were almost too good to be true but they were spot on. We discovered that two of our old domed skylights were cracked and wanted them fixed before the rains came. Ladd at Mr Skylight was wonderful to work with. He came out right away and was so friendly, professional and responsive. He is a seasoned professional who has been in the roofing and skylight business for many years. He was pleasant to work with, efficient and got the job done timely. He was our sole contact from initial inspection and quote through the actual installation. He found our newer Velux skylights needed sealing as well. Once performing the installation and sealing he found some other issues that he took care of free of charge including installing missing flashing screws and fixing a broken rubber collar and re securing the vent pipe on the hot water heater pipe in the garage. His other team member even patched and painted the skylight well in the entry for us. The price was fair, they took great care during the install and left no mess at all. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Skylight to family or neighbors. read more

This was one of the best contractor experiences we've had, and we've had a lot. We're very happy with our two new skylights and may do one more as they've made such a big difference with our ability to control the temp in the house and have rooms darkened when needed. The fact that the skylights are solar powered is icing on the cake. Thanks Ladd! read more

My skylights were new 30 years ago so they needed a facelift and Mr Skylight was the right dr. to call for diagnosis and repair. He was thorough and clear about all of the issues involved. His estimate was clear and easy to understand. A good man with a good crew! read more

Mr Skylight (aka Ladd) is great. He answered my inquiry email immediately and came to fix our Velux skylights the next day. He was easy to talk to over the phone and very forthcoming with pricing info in advance. He came fully prepared with all the parts we might need (and then some), and very well organized. I assisted him on our roof and was thus able to save some money due to the reduced time required. He talked through his troubleshooting and repair steps as we went, which give me great confidence in his knowledge and experience (as well as making the task more enjoyable). After a few hours, and for the first time in years, both skylights are operating well and looking ship-shape, for a fair price. I'll definitely come back to Mr Skylight for future skylight service! read more

Mr Skylight - Reassembling the first skylight after replacing the motor and batteries - Roofing Near Me - San Anselmo, California

I thank my lucky stars for reading the reviews for Mr. Skylight and giving them a call. I have a 20 year old Velux skylight that's never given me a single problem. Quite suddenly the remote wouldn't open the skylight. I could see that there was still a connection between the skylight and the remote which told me it may be a simple problem. That said, no one would help me. Every place I contacted told me I needed to replace it. Even Velux Customer Service said "it cant be fixed" without asking me a single question. (Not even "Did you change the batteries in the remote!") So I called Ladd at Mr. Skylight and after asking me a few basic questions, he told me he thought he knew what was wrong. And he DID! He fixed the problem in about 30 minutes. It works like a charm again! And for anyone with a 20 year old Velux skylight -- it was the sensitive toggle that controls the security lock. I completely forgot it even had one. Ladd is extremely knowledgeable, pleasant, and easy to work with. I am so grateful for his immediate attention to my problem. He responded to my voicemail quickly and made room in his schedule to fit this job in. I recommend him highly. He was worth his weight in gold and saved me from the expense of a new skylight. When this one does go out, I know who to call to replace it! I wouldn't consider anyone else. read more

Ladd at Mr Skylight replaced six skylights at our home. He provided us with options at various budget levels and answered questions to our satisfaction. Once we agreed on the scope, the units were ordered and installed within two weeks. The team was prompt and cleaned up everything after installation. Highly recommended! read more

Mr. Skylight provided excellent service. it is very difficult today to find individuals who are knowledgeable, reliable and on time! I've particularly struggled in the past with finding a reliable vendor to repair my skylights. I can highly recommend Mr. Skylight! It was easy to schedule service, he arrived on time, he understood the problem and had my skylights working again quickly. His services were also very economical. Definitely 5 stars! read more

I recently had Mr. Skylight replace three skylights at my house, one large one in the kitchen and two regular-size ones in the living and dining rooms. My experience with the company was excellent. When I called to get an estimate, the owner called me immediately, and he was able to visit my house and provide me with an estimate within 24 hours. He provided me with some skylight material options and provided me with a list of people he had done work for as references. I researched the price of the proposed skylights and installation and found Mr. Skylight's prices very reasonable. The skylights were ordered and shortly thereafter installed. The removal of the old skylights and installation of new skylights were professionally done. The crew covered the area below the skylights to protect the floors and furniture, and they vacuumed up any dust and dirt after they finished. The skylights look great. If you are considering installing or replacing skylights in your house, I would highly recommend Mr. Skylight. read more

I learned from a skylight /window washer that one of our skylights had failed and that moisture was leaking in. I was lucky enough to stumble upon a favorable review on NextDoor of Mr. Skylight, Ladd. He came over promptly, inspected the skylight from indoors and out and confirmed that we, indeed, had a failed skylight. When he learned that our Velux skylight was less than 4 years old, he informed me that it was still under warranty, and that's pretty much the last thing I had to do. He measured and ordered me the new skylight, got it for us at no charge from Velux and installed it, all at a very reasonable price. Ladd is prompt, works quickly, does good work, and goes out of his way to keep the costs down. I'd never have known our skylight was still under warranty and that I get a new one for free if Ladd weren't such an honest person. And he's friendly and nice too! Doesn't get any better than that! read more

Ladd and his team were awesome! Professional, meticulous, and friendly. The skylight and solar tunnel they installed has made such a difference. Our home feels so much more peaceful and open. I can tell they take pride in their work and it makes a big difference. read more

We are all different - some are laid back, some are controllers... I might lean in the latter direction (might?). I coordinate a great amount of renovations and upgrades for clients so I ask a lot of questions, need to really visualize how it will work, need things to LOOK good and I insist on high quality, follow-through and final work product. Ladd is so MUCH MORE detail oriented than I expected- more than any other contractor I have worked with. So, let me help my brethren type As, you can let go here and trust him. Trust his recommendations, his follow through, his work ethic and allow him to do things the "old fashioned way" as he puts it. Get out a pen and sign the paper, write a check and forget about zelle, docusign etc. Just let it go and let him do his great work! thank you Ladd for putting up with my questions and doing a fabulous job at my house! Ladd is MR. SKYLIGHT! The name is well deserved as he knows EVERYTHING about skylights! He recommended the perfect ones for us... with rain (and vibration, ie anyone trying to enter our roof) sensors and quiet, soft closing and opening - all with convenient remotes. This will greatly improve our cooling and aeration as the summers get hotter. We are in West Marin, so no air conditioning. These skylights will prolong our comfort temperatures! Ladd's team arrived promptly and finished installing all three skylights in just under three hours! Very professionally done! We could not recommend him more highly! read more

Mr. Skylight has another happy pair of customers in San Rafael. A Velux skylight had been shattered by a falling branch -- and needed to be replaced. Ladd came out to view the situation and take measurements -- and two weeks later he was back with his crew to remove the damaged unit and install a new one. He is highly knowledgable and provided excellent advice about our choices in replacing it, as well as how to get a tax credit. Care was taken to cover and protect everything in the room below in the process of removing the broken unit. Clear communication throughout the process. He also provided excellent advice about some future work we are planning (installing attic fans -- something he no longer does ... but knows much about). read more

I had a skylight malfunction (not something installed by Mr. Skylight) and emailed for a repair appointment. Three minutes later, Ladd called me, listened to my problem, spent a lot of time with me on the phone, and was able to help me fix it myself. We'd gone months thinking ours were broken, and Ladd was able to diagnose and walk me through a fix. This was above and beyond. He genuinely cared more about helping a stranger than making a sale or a repair. He did not gain anything spending time with me on the phone, and was nice and patient and excited when it worked. We had a really nice conversation. People who do kind things should be spotlighted. This was a real gift. Thank you Ladd, and I hope people who want to patronize a thoughtful and generous business make sure to call. read more

The four years since we moved into our first home (an enchanting fixer-upper with multiple red-flag level issues) have been like college for me -- a hugely expensive education. In that short time, I learned a lot about contractors of every stripe, and the bad ones were some of my best professors. They taught me that, apart from the non-negotiable qualities of honesty and competence, what you really want is someone like Ladd (that's Mr. Skylight), who truly cares about your specific home, needs, and budget; who works with you in the planning stage to find the best solution, and finally -- this is the hardest thing to find -- does the job HIMSELF alongside a highly trained crew, and won't leave until every detail is perfect. I know it sounds like I'm writing an ad for Mr. Skylight, but let me tell you: I absolutely am. He did such a good job for us, on a very complicated project (we had to replace nine [NINE!] skylights, at the same time, in concert with a new roof going on) that I feel obligated both to you (the person nervously looking for someone to fix/repair/replace their skylights) and to Ladd (hands-down the best contractor and person we've ever worked with) to tell you about how happy we are with the experience and execution we got from this great company. Sorry for so many incredibly clunky run-on type sentences, and good luck with your search, which I hope has just come to an end. read more

Ladd is a true expert in his field. He seems to know everything about all manner of skylights and, in our case, had a bunch of obscure parts in his van that he used to fix our problems without having to totally replace the mechanism, which is what the manufacturer would have preferred. The rubber seal on my skylight became unseated from its channel. Ladd hadn't installed my skylight. My next-door neighbor who's a handyman, recommended Mr. Skylight to repair it. On the website, I requested an appointment. A little later in the day Ladd called me but I couldn't answer. He then texted me and I sent over some pictures. We then talked on the phone, and he suggested I could easily repair the seal myself. I explained that I could repair it, but I am acrophobic and couldn't get up on a ladder or the roof. He listened intently to my problem, and we scheduled a time for him to fix it. He genuinely cared about making a lasting repair. He was very pleasant, had a great sense of humor, and was very skilled at his craft. Afterward, we had a friendly conversation, not related to the fix. It was refreshing! His fee was quite reasonable, and he said he wouldn't charge me anything for me to help him! I want to thank Ladd and recommend that anyone needing any help with their skylights call Ladd. You will not be disappointed. read more
