Great food, great service, there's not much I would change! Mr. Pig Stuff recently moved into a new location and I have to begin by saying, their new space is beautiful. It's gives off a modern whiskey house/southern rustic vibe. Plenty of indoor seating and a cute patio with an indoor/outdoor bar top. I have eaten here 3 times in the past few months and my experience has been the same each time, wonderful! My two favorite meals are the Smoked Chicken Wings and The Pile sandwich. The chicken wings: I'm the type to always sauce up any wing I get. Pig Stuff's wings will come out dry rubbed with your sauce in the side. At first I was hesitant but now I know why! Their dry rub is fantastic! The flavors are Smokey, savory, and salty - easily eaten on their own. The meat is very juicy and falls off of the bone! (8.5/10) The Pile: this is a sandwich consisting of brisket, pulled pork, Mac & cheese, and coleslaw. It's a monster of a sandwich and could definitely make a mess but OMG it is tasty! The sandwich comes with BQQ sauce, but who needs it when you have the juiciness of the pork, smokiness of the brisket, creaminess of the Mac & cheese, and the tang of coleslaw! It's almost hard not to finish this sandwich. (9/10) Another favorite are their fries. Fresh, crispy, and well seasoned. You can also get them as garlic parm fries where they drizzle their wing sauce across the top - YUM. (8/10) Lastly, the service here has always been impeccable. I've been eager to try Mr Pig Stuff out since their sign went up several months ago. After an afternoon workout I walked in and ordered some takeout to bring home. The inside has a rustic, cowboy-ish feel. Imagine a fancy modernized BBQ joint in Montana or Utah, that's the feel. I ordered the brisket plate with a side of baked beans. The brisket is luscious and melts in your mouth, however, it was missing that deep rich flavor that I'm accustomed to when I order brisket. It was still delicious, the spicy BBQ sauce added some much appreciated kick as well. The baked beans were the best part in my opinion; sweet, rich and full of flavor. So I have been to KC and Texas and have had the best BBQ in the country. I found myself in a town on the outskirts of Minneapolis and decided to get some BBQ. First of all, the smell drew me in. The bar service is great and the sass - well, that's either great...or awkward...depending on your mood. The ambience isn't anything special and it feels more like a Wisconsion banquet hall than a restaurant, but you probably won't need to wait for seating and the food is really good. About as good as you're going to get in Shakopee. I ordered a plated dinner, which included the following: Two meat choices, two side dishes, and a corn muffin. I selected the brisket and pulled pork for my meats and hand-cut fries and coleslaw for my side dishes. They also have a large variety of BBQ sauces from across the country for your meat--a taste for everyone. The hand-cut fries were absolutely delicious. Perfect balance of texture and seasoning. The coleslaw comes in long shreds. Taste was decent, but I'm partial to KFC-style slaw. You are served a very generous portion of both. The brisket was fork tender and paired well with the spicy BBQ sauce. The sauce left a nice burn. Great amount of smoke taste. The pulled pork had some larger chunks left over. This paired well with the Carolina style sauce. My server was great and checked in regularly; he also made sure I had enough iced tea to get me through my meal. They also serve you a large bottle of water. I love when places do that. Two minor suggestions for improvement: Have all the sauces available at the table and whip the honey butter. Stopped in after running some errands with my dad. I'm a KCBS certified BBQ judge, so I'm pretty picky when it comes to smoked meats. IT was the middle of the afternoon so we were the only ones there. WE ordered some tea and a sampler platter. First, our server was so nice. Super well informed about the menu, gave us a sampling of all the sauces, checked in to make sure we were enjoying everything. Then there was the meats. Every single one of them was good. Smoked wings, brisket (not too fatty) pulled pork (not too mushy). Everything had great texture and smoke flavor. Qualifications: I grew up in the south and spent more than a decade living in Texas as an adult. I have no idea now to make great BBQ, but I've spent a lot of time eating great BBQ and have a fair idea of what makes a great BBQ place. Verdict: This is a good enough BBQ place. It's better than average. Nobody is going to line up for an hour like you have to for a great place in Texas (much less wait 4+ hours like you can at the most famous places), but it does the job. You will like this if: You are craving BBQ that is better than average with good sides. You will dislike this if: You are looking for Texas style brisket or pork like you might find in Memphis or the Carolinas. You're looking for an order at the counter and watch your meat get cut on the block type place. Details: #1: Ribs - A proper rib, in my opinion, should require a little pull to come off the bone. This isn't that. But they taste really good. If you were just out for a good plate of ribs, this place does a good job. #2: Brisket - The brisket is fine. It's definitely not Texas brisket. It doesn't have dark, seasoned bark. It's not smoky. It's not served in a half inch thick slab. But it does have a hint of smoke and it's definitely not dry or rubbery. Firebox Deli has the best brisket that I've tried in Minnesota. This is closer to the beef you'd get in someplace like Kansas City. #3: Slop Buckets - I like when places have at least one item that is unconventional. You can find a BBQ Sloppy Joe at a lot of places in the south and this is pretty similar. It's pork, beef, and sausage all in a tangy sauce with some fried onions. It's great. The Line: There was no line because this is a waiter service place. You can call ahead for takeout or place an order 30 minutes in advance on the internets. The Rest: They definitely have some thoughtful side items. The fries were great and seemed to be fresh cut. The sauces were a little thick, but interesting. Bread at a lot of places isn't great, but they had good corn muffins with a side of a sweetened butter. Everyone has personal preferences. My ideal BBQ place is a mix of no frills, old school roadside joint that been updated with innovative sides and some interesting specials. In a perfect world, every BBQ place would have a spicy sausage option and cobbler. This place is a solid B+. Even if the meat isn't outstanding, it's really good, and they've put some thought and effort in to their sides. If you're within 20 minutes, it's worth a trip. read more

I got married on June 19th, 2021, at The Capitol Room in St.Peter, Minnesota. I cant even type out how amazing our experience was with Mr. Pig Stuff. Kip and his team were SO AMAZING amazing, professional, and helpful. They made our wedding day SO SO SO perfect. Plus can we talk about how yummy the food was? We STILL get compliments on how good the food was and how it was not your average wedding food. From the open house we went to with them there, our food tasting (seriously so yummy and it was SO fun), to the day of our wedding... I couldn't imagine our day without Mr.Pig Stuff and their team. I saw their promo a few days ago on Twin Cities Live and was impressed with their presentation of their "pile sandwich." Couldn't stop thinking about it for days. My mom and I were headed down to Shakopee to Mystic lake to see Willie Nelson perform. so I looked up BBQ in Shakopee on Yelp and Mr Pig Stuff showed up. Score. I read the reviews and I knew the Pile would be my sandwich of choice, but I knew it would be too large for one person and my mother was a willing partner to share it with. I ordered a Diet Coke to wash the meal down as we sat at one of the tables with good views of the TVs. The sandwich is massive with Layered with Beef Brisket, mac and cheese, Pulled Pork, and coleslaw. It was delish! Super juicy brisket and pork and the mac and cheese was good, but kind of got lost in all the juiciness of the meat. I did like the pickle slices and the addition of the coleslaw. I had to eat mine with a fork, it is just to sloppy to eat as a sandwich, but it was all good! The bun was tasty and buttered and warmed to perfection, gotta love a good kaiser roll! I hired Mr. Pigstuff in June for a catering gig and they were phenomenal. Not just whimsy picnic catering, we are talking whole hog roasting bonanza. I still have people come up to me and tell me how good the food was. So we decided to stop by and see if their restaurant can compete with their catering, and YES it can. I ordered their famous "Pile," a sandwich consisting of sweet bread, pulled pork, brisket, housemade Mac and Cheese topped with coleslaw and Kentucky Bourbon BBQ. If you just basically had a food orgasm, I wouldn't blame you. It is as good as it sounds. Yes, it is loaded with calories, but all BBQ is baby! My wife ordered the 2 meat plate and we basically got a meal that served the both of us. She got the pulled pork (seriously it is out-of-this-world good) and their meat hash: Slop Bucket (a mixture of brisket, sausage, pork, and BBQ sauce). We also tried their Mac and Cheese, Au Gratin Potatoes, and the cornbread. The meat was hands down delicious, all of it was great. Mac and Cheese was creamy and cheesy, exactly how it should be. The Au Gratin was very interesting but was very good. It had powerful garlic and pepper flavors with a consistency of Au Grating and mashed potatoes. And of course, it was covered in cheese! The corn bread muffins are great, right on par with Famous Dave's famous corn bread muffins (but at least Mr. Pigstuff didn't sell out so that their food could become utter crap). With such good luck, we tried some of their ribs just for fun. Fall off the bone tender and delicious. My wife never really likes ribs, but she fought me for the rack because they were that good. Even my baby daughter who isn't a fan of meat right now wouldn't stop eating them. To confirm my good review, we sat next to a table from Colorado who were vacationing in the Shakopee area. They told the manager that they were up for a few weeks and that this was the 2nd time they had been to the place because they loved it that much. Our fellowship offered to pay for my husband and my meals. They told us to meet them at Mr Pig Stuff. First off, it took over an hour for us to receive our meals. Then it went downhill from there. I ordered their Baby Back Ribs. They were extremely dark. I couldn't believe how dry they were and super salty. I could not eat them. The barbecue sauce tasted like vinegar. My side dishes were french fries and macaroni and cheese. I like the flavor of the macaroni and cheese, but the macaroni wasn't fully cooked. The french fries were crisp but some tasted to be a bit burned. The only thing I really enjoyed was the corn muffin. The butter was flavored with something sweet. It was pretty good also. The waiters and waitresses seemed to be run off their feet. I think they might need more help. Summing this review up. I believe this place trumps Bakers Ribs up the hill in Eden Prairie. There is no inside dining....this place is simply grab and go, or eat at the patio tables nearby along the building. For my first visit, I ordered the Beef Brisket regular (they have large sizes if you're super starving), with a side of Baked Beans and coleslaw. This is pretty much my litmus test when checking out BBQ joints for the first time. the sandwich was amazing, and the beans were the perfect match of sweetness and hotness with a large portion of meat in the middle. Ordered the lil pig which consists of a half chicken, half slab of ribs, pile of pulled pork, beans, coleslaw and cornbread. It was for 4 of us and was plenty, everything was great, however half of us thought the rib were too fatty or chewy. Beans took the prize for the best on the menu, they were awesome even for someone who isn't a big beans eater. The chicken was very moist and juicy, pulled pork had a lot of flavor. Good BBQ sauce too which I feel is rare even at a BBQ restaurant. Also ordered the pile, could not resist a pork Sammy with Mac and cheese on it. Loved the Mac and cheese, really complimented the pork well. Extremely messy, you can try and pick it up but it's going to get everywhere, you will be forking part of it. Great BBQ in Shakopee! Went for lunch and ordered an eight pig wings basket to warm up with. Basically a rib tip, these things were tender, tender, tender! Freaking awesome appetizer. From there, I had the one meat entree of beef brisket. Huge portion of juicy brisket, large portions of sides (fries and coleslaw). My wife got the pull pork sandwich and could not finish it. The BBQ sauce at the table is a sweet vinegar-based sauce that I wasn't fond of. No problem, I just asked for a spicier sauce and the staff gave me two to try out. Both were very tasty and quite spicy. Service is fast and friendly. The one thing I'd like to see them improve on is the overall smoke of the meats. It's too faint. I expect this to improve as they get their smoking mojo on. Overall, a great addition to Shakopee's restaurant landscape. Conveniently located on Highway 101 right next to Dangerfield's. This place is going to make a killing in the summer with Valley Fair and Canterbury Downs in close proximity. Definitely coming back to this place. A big hit in my book. read more

I love local bbq joints as the only thing that makes me happy to be at a chain one is the bread pudding at Famous Daves. Entering the restaurant you see the giant smoker on your left (a very welcome site ) and then venture up to the counter. This was where I started getting a bad feeling about this place. Menus were laying on almost the entire counter, and also didn't seem too clean. Ordering is Famous Daves style where after you place your order they give you a number. The waitress taking my order was really nice. I had ordered a combo platter and a soda. Soda station was self serve and for some reason the flooring seemed kinda slick, but not sure if that was my shoes. The combination platter came with pulled pork, ribs, cornbread, and brisket along with 2 sides ( I chose mac and cheese and coselaw ). The pork was pretty dry and flavorless. The ribs were pretty tough and overcooked. To top it off, the brisket was extremely salty. I didn't finish my meal, not even half. The mac and cheese was decent though. Ultimately I wouldn't recommend this place and won't be returning. This place seems to have many good reviews, but I unfortunately didn't have that memorable of an experience. read more
