Next time you're out West of the Twin Cities you have got to stop in and try @irontapmn located in downtown Waconia, MN. This place is so quaint on the outside but buzzin' on the inside. Super cool vibes, excellent service and delicious food!!! They offer tons of craft beer on tap and great looking craft cocktails. I cannot wait to go back in the summer to enjoy their rooftop and patio seating areas! We started with the fried pickle rollups and they were super good. Great panko crust offered a nice crunch. I'm not a big ground mustard fan so pro tip is to order them with ranch (obvi). :) The walleye sandwich was also really good! I could have used a tad more tartar sauce on the bun but that's just me. The fish also had a delicious crunch to it and was very meaty. Once again, always get the fries w da ranch as a side. The sleeper here was the adult mac n cheese. Stacked with bbq pulled pork, poblano peppers, onions and more, this thing was killer! I always say if you see max w cavatappi noodles you know it's going to be and this was right there. My husband has been eyeing this restaurant during last visits to my sister's house. We finally tried it this time. Service was quick and good. My martini flight was tasty. The blue cheese dressing on the salad was great! We liked the pulled pork sandwich however it kind of lacked flavor. It needed more salt or something. We asked for a side of BBQ sauce to "kick it up a notch" but the sauce was lacking too. The sweet potato fries were really good. All in all, we would eat here again. read more

Went to Iron Tap with friends after going to J Carver. Ordered the burger. Girlfriend had the chicken cavatapi, and the pretzel and a soup. The burger was really nice. Nice meaty flavor and the bun held up well. The pretzel I thought was a little small, but it tasted ok. Girlfriend appreciated the pasta dish as well. They've got an excellent beer list as well with beers from a variety of places and variety of styles. I don't know Waconia that well, but assume their beer list is one of the best. I wouldn't drive to Waconia just for the food, because it is quite far, but I would happily eat the food again and throw down a couple of beers. read more

I was in downtown Waconia and gave the Iron Tap a try for the first time. Kind of a cool spot attached to the bakery-by-day/lounge-by-night joint next door. It looks kind of small at first, but there's more seating around the corner and counter seating as well. They have a huge tap selection and I chose Schell's Snowstorm, one of Schell's seasonal brews. This one was quite good - dark and bready with a bit of a spice to it. To eat, I ordered a medium/well bacon cheeseburger and fries. The burger was cooked just right and it came with perfectly crispy, thick bacon. The burger in the pic looks small, but that's because of the absolute mountain of crispy battered fries in front of it. I should have taken another shot from another angle but I was hungry. Best cheese curds I've ever had, hands down. We are from Georgia and stopped here based on Yelp reviews and pictures of the food. It was all delicious. Hubby had The Tom, which had brisket, cheese curds, and all kinds of yumminess. I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich. Our server was Brendan and he did a great job with recommendations for us. This place is right on Main Street on Waconia and it makes for a cutely decorated place that has a bakery attached. I would likely give it a 3.5/5 in terms of ratings. Great drink selection, good sized menu, and a lot of different options. My sister is a vegetarian and they didn't have too many meatless options in terms of the sandwiches, however they did offer a meatless alternative for the the burgers. We ended up splitting 4 different appetizers across my sister, my mom, and I. We got the cheese curds, the warm pretzel, the bruschetta, and the crab artichoke dip. Prices were slightly steeper for the amount of food we were given. For example, the cheese curds were absolutely delicious, but for $12.50 we didn't get many of these. Would likely still order them, but definitely would've been happier with a larger amount. The warm pretzel was really good and came with a mustard and a really good Gouda cheese sauce. The honey goat cheese bruschetta was fresh and was a good bite sized to share (it would be hard to share with more than 3 people so make sure you plan accordingly). The crab artichoke dip was fine but for $15 I would probably skip it as it wasn't anything earth shattering. Overall if I lived closer to the Waconia area I would be willing to stop in again especially for a few apps and the wide drink selection. read more

We came and it was a 30 min wait at 4:15 on a Sat which was a surprise. We asked about going to the lounge to wait but honestly we only wanted cheese curds (as they are great here) and beer, but the lounge didn't serve that app it only has around 5 apps. :( So we decide to sit at the bar as there actually was room, which I was surprised. The bartender was very nice. We were able to get flights of beer, the flights of wine are bartender's choice from the lounge. And our delicious yummy cheese curds. Outstanding. Love this place. It checks ALL the boxes. Great beer selection, delicious food, the kids menu doesn't suck, and the bakery's big, beautiful cupcakes and giant chocolate truffles are unreal. So far, each meal has been sensational; the burger, the Cinco de Mayo tacos, and watermelon feta salad with added grilled salmon... consistently wonderful. We love that they always have plenty of beer on tap for us to try out and the atmosphere is very welcoming for locals and new locals like ourselves. We had a seating of 4. The breeze from the door sucks even with the drape curtain by the door. The staff is friendly and with tables open and reservations, it took a bit for the food. The food came and the walley sandwich was overcooked as was the plate of walleye. The Reuben Cuban was tasty but the bun was tough and over toasted. Whomever was running the kitchen was letting things get away from them and overcooked the meals. I hate that! The only one meal that was good was the jalapeno popper burger. BTW.. the house balsamic was the consistency and color of diarrhea but tasted better than it looked. I was also disappointed in the small pour for the local red for 9.00. No need to be stingy when everything else was 15.00 or more per dish. I want to come back again as long as the food isn't overcooked to death. Not for those prices. For the most part we have been impressed with the tap for the three years we have frequented it. However, was a Little disappointed with our service this evening. We attend burger night every few months, I'm celiac and never have an issue with swapping out the fries for a veggie, potato, or side salad. They have always been super accommodating. Tonight the server gave me quite the pushback and told me I could not do any other sides other than fries (which are completely contaminated in flour). I was told I could upgrade to a salad but that it would cost an additional 6$ or potatoes for $3. It's not breaking the bank, however it's more the lack of understanding and customer service which seemed to frustrate me the most. I've been ordering the same dish for years, why now? read more

The Grilled Cheese Sandwich was amazing here! They added a little something extra to the classic grilled cheese, which made it a great menu item. For my side I selected the veggies, which were various grilled squash and other seasonal selections. They were done well (not too soggy and not hard either). I also got one of their nitro brews and was happily surprised with that selection as well. In a word, disappointing. The bacon cheddar burger was meat, a bun, cheese and bacon that was cooked a LONG time ago. Where's the lettuce? Where's the tomato? Or onion? Nowhere!! I arrived at 1108, placed my order at 1110 and got two Togo burgers at 1131. There were no ketchup or mustard packages included and the burger was way overcooked and very very dry. While I was there probably 5 employees arrived so I think they don't bother fully staffing until 1130. The staff wasn't particularly friendly and food is offered at double the price I would say it's worth. This just feels like another place trying to jump on the brewery bandwagon because it's the in thing right now. Nothing place really lacked originality. Food all sounded intriguing on the menu but was just ok. I rate it a two not because the food was bad because it was ok but because I wouldn't make any effort to go back. Applebee's does a better job with flavor and your bill will be a little cheaper. Service was ok, we order the suggestions of the waitress who said they were her favorites and real popular.
