The time was upon me to update my wardrobe. My existing suits were starting to show their wear…read more You know the story.. my suits had seen more than their fair share of lipstick on the collar, bullet holes skirting the jacket fabric at the ribs and for whatever inexplicable reason, Bengal tiger placentae stains on the sleeves. Bureau not only sells fancy threads worthy of distinguished gentlemen such as myself, but they also sell exclusively fully customized suits. Head to the shop on Elmwood Ave. for a visit and I promise you'll be impressed. There is a small lounge area where you sit and discuss the design of your new suit that has the look and feel of being in a London flat, as if you just wandered into a snuggery in Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Also, said lounge area may or may not have a false wall that leads to a secret room where there may or may not eventually be a speakeasy where men can sit down, whip up old fashioned cocktails and discuss the ways of the world, hypothetically speaking. A pure testosterone kick. I stopped in and met with Joe and Mike on my first visit. I didn't realize how much time I would need, so I came back a second time to place my order. There are a lot of choices to choose from, from the fabric, to the buttons, to the pockets, to the decision of putting something cool and hip for your interior liner, such as floating skulls and your initials, or something more classic. I didn't realize how many subtle nuances could be added to a fully customized suit that not only make you look like a secret agent killer, but also these nuances can showcase that fact you're wearing a custom suit that you just can't get from Men's Wearhouse or Jos A. Bank. Suits they craft here are made utilizing the finest woven wools and other top materials of your choosing (e.g. tweed, cashmere). Expect a 4-6 week turn-around-time, as your personalized suits will be manufactured in Holland. With this level of service and quality, however, comes a price: two-piece suits start around $700-$800 and three-piece suits start around $1300. If suits aren't your fancy, Bureau also sells fully customized jeans, dress jackets and even leather goods, such as shoes and handbags, but the suits are Bureau's staple. My thoughts? Go to Bureau now and "suit up" like Barney Stinson. It will be "Legen...wait-for-it...DARY!"

I did my initial consult with Mike, and while I thought I had a good idea of what I wanted going into the appointment, the customization options were endless. Mike was super knowledgeable and down to earth, and really helped me narrow it down based on my vision. I opted to get the wedding suit package, that came with a three piece suit, custom dress shoes, white dress shirt, socks, knit tie, suspenders, and pocket square, and it's definitely worth the money. When I returned for my fitting and put the suit on the for the first time, I knew right away I never had a suit look and feel so good. Definitely will be returning to stock up on more suits with these guys. They're a riot, and the product is top notch.

From jewelry, to coasters, to clothes to pictures on the walls there is something for everyone and every style. I loved all the buffalo themed masks, and ended up choosing a zubaz mask for myself! Also machine washable! Take a trip out to Hertel and check out this awesome store, you are sure to find something for yourself or a friend!

We need to stock up for the new school year! The masks are locally made, have cool Buffalo themed patterns like buffalo's with hearts, bills, chicken wings, etc. They are also machine washable. I love the ear straps and the longer strap to keep around your neck when taken off! It's my favorite mask so far! Reasonably priced for only $14.99 and for a little less $12.99 they have children sized masks! Very comfortable and stylish. They have many eye catching Buffalo themed t-shirts but you can bring in your own design and they can put it on a shirt as well! Also offer hats, socks, bow ties, etc. I also noticed all the cool art made from local artists! These would make awesome birthday, holiday, or shower gifts! I also purchased a cool buffalo print t-shirt and Buffalo necklace. It's important to support local and I promise once you stop in this Buffalo Apparel Co. store on Hertel you will be back!

But…read morewhen my target remodeled a couple of years ago, I had to be impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the store. Yesterday I was impressed all over again. The keyboard I'd bought for $10 last August on Amazon died suddenly two days ago. Not a very sturdy keyboard, but sure I'm guilty of contributing to its demise, as I'd often turn it over and bang it soundly on the desk to dislodge crumbs and lint and dust. Seems not a good idea. So to alleviate computer addiction withdrawal yesterday, I went out in the midst of a slight blizzard to see what Target might have in keyboards. I found one for ....$10. I not only took that home, but I ended up doing a little grocery shopping. I was surprised to find the things I bought were selling for the same prices --or less-- as the grocery store. When I got home and opened the keyboard box -- wow. Compared to the "Yugo" keyboard I had, this one was a Lexus. So I am impressed with Target now for the availability of quality merchandise at competitive prices. And still a clean and well designed store.

After the pandemic I really got into buying and selling vintage decor - and I'll never forget, one of my first estate sale escapades after starting that venture, I came across the guys from Queen City Vintage. They told us they had been there to sign up for the sale at 6am, and had thoroughly swept up most of the sweet vintage Buffalo Bills gear at that sale. This included things like pullovers, hats, and some other merch. After hearing what they spent, and what they sold the stuff for, I had to admit I was thoroughly impressed. The amount of dedication they have to obtaining these items to sell is seriously admirable. It honestly inspired me to go far with my own buying and selling. Flash forward to a few weeks ago, I visited the store for the very first time. They were having a huge vintage Buffalo Bills sale at the shop in honor of the home opener. I was the first person in line, getting there at about 8am to wait until 11am for the shop to open. One of the guys asks me what I had come to the store to shop for, and I told them about the vintage Tweety Bird pullover that they'd posted on their Instagram a few days before, something I'd been looking for for a very long time (in honor of the one my mother once owned). They promised to make sure the one I wanted was on the rack for me when they finally opened the store. More respect earned. So yeah, these guys are genuinely fantastic. Their selection of vintage items (not just Bills) is pretty incredible, and all of their stuff is in such awesome condition that it's all basically deadstock. I totally recommend visiting their shop at least once, and following them on social media, as they're always posting stuff online too that typically sells out before they can even put them on the shelves at the store. And yes, I am thoroughly enjoying my Bills Tweety pullover as I write this. And my vintage Zubaz. Go Bills!
