If you are under 21 in Burlington and want to go somewhere downtown at night, you've got two major options: a coffee shop (I'm thinking Muddy's or the Bean) or Mr. Mikes. Either of these are very good options, but if you're craving a hot slice of Buffalo chicken pie, or maybe a chance to ogle drunk UVMers, you have to go to Mr. Mikes. And even though it's your only option, it's a damn good one. Look, my favorite pizza around here is Leonardo's, but that's just because I'm a thick-crust kind of gal. If you want something a little thinner and stringier, Mr. Mikes should be your go-to. And lucky for you, Mr. Mikes is open until at least 1 am every night, and they deliver. read more

Not authentic pizza, but good at what they do. The barbecue chicken and buffalo chicken pizzas are amazingly tasty. The bar is tiny, seating is limited, and the A/C hasn't worked in weeks... but as a post-kickball spot for the rowdy twenty-somethings who spend Monday night playing WAKA at Oakledge, it does the job well. The beer is relatively cheap, they bring rounds of free shots to all the teams in the league, and the service is friendly and quick. The place is an isht hole, but if you can look past that it's a 5 Star pizza. Girlfriend said it's the best pizza she ever had in her entire life and we had to come back here several times. Went here to try a slice on a recommendation from a coworker...I was told it was a "hole in the wall," and not to be fooled by appearances. The interior was nice enough and had a college feel- the two slices we sampled were crisp, hot, and filled with flavor. I ordered ranch and the bartender (man with long, light colored hair) charged me for ranch, I didn't get ranch. Not to be an asshole but he was clearly very high, every single person in my group commented on it and it was obvious he was struggling to take complex orders, lagging on things, and generally having a hard time. I've smoked before, it's literally SO obvious and my night was ruined. I was charged for something I didn't get and I wasn't going to spend the money to uber back to get fucking ranch. Fire people who come to work high, not sorry. It's not cool and I wish I didn't tip but i gave a large tip to the trash person who charged me for something I didn't recieve. I am so unsatisfied and I will throw a giant fit if i get charged for condiments the next time I come in. I will also not hesitate to get the manager involved next time the employee taking orders is visibly high. read more

Just so you all know, 2:30am is never a good time to order a slice of pie but it had to be done since it is my duty to drop ultimate pizza knowledge on all our loyal SG fans. So without further ado, here is a recap of my dining experience at Mr. Mike's Pizzeria located in downtown Burlington, VT. On the frigid morning of January 5th, 2014 at approximately 2:32am a beaten Tombstone clumsily barged down the ironclad door of Mr. Mike's Pizzeria. He was hurt and in an immediate need of pizza recuperation which could only be provided by a hefty dose of a saucy, cheesy remedy. He'd been on the rugged and mountainous terrain of Vermont for the past three days attempting to herd several 4-packs of Vermont's finest and most illusive beer "The Heady Topper" only to be left hobbled and maimed by its untamed power. After surveying the crowd the surly Slice Guy made his way to the back of the chow line that was situated behind a few unruly patrons that were just begging for a late night altercation. Tombstone patiently waited in that spot for approximately 5 minutes to find out that the tricksey patrons decided to play a prank on the unfamiliar stranger by telling him that was where the pie line had ended. Tombstone did not approve of their trickery but finally made his way to the correct ordering location. Surprisingly he was met by a familiar face and at that very moment, when the two great friends were reunited the dastardly patrons that were previously mentioned tumbled out of the ironclad door in a sad scuffle that could only be described as embarrassing and lame. The pizza doctor greeted the two friends with kindness and offered Tombstone tasty remedy to aid in his recovery. Tombstone initially attempted to order two large pies but they were not available at that time, so he and his comrade ordered as many slices as they could fit into their satchel and went on their way. The pizza was an Italian thin crust, New York Neapolitan style. At first bite it seemed like the greatest pie Tombstone had ever consumed, lucky his companion reminded him that he had been wounded and should refrain from making rash and hasty pizza decisions. Looking back, I am thankful that I had friends along to keep me from giving a the SG fans a less than accurate opinion because now that it is all said-and-done, Tombstone can only provide Mr. Mike's Pizzeria with 3.5 slices. Why? The pizza was reheated at that time of day but overall, the taste was just what the doctor ordered. I cannot comment on the everyday freshness of Mr. Mike's due to the fact that I was forced to consume a reheated piece of pie but I will say that it was tasty given the circumstances. The pizza was pretty basic from the crushed tomato sauce to the overly salty/oily cheese. It's one redeeming quality was the crust. It's flavor was I enjoyable; it was yeasty and chewy similar to decently fresh bagel. Overall, Mr. Mike's was good. I would definitely recommend grabbing a slice if you want something to eat after a night of binge drinking with the locals. If I am ever in the area again I will most definitely stop by to see what type of quality they can offer during non-vampire hours. Tombstone's Rating: 3.5 Slices read more

This is the best slice in downtown Burlington. It's been through many owners over the years, yet the pizza remains excellent. That's a rare feat. I almost always double down: a slice of BBQ chicken and a slice of Buffalo chicken. You may have to dodge a few drunken bros, since it's a go-to stomach filler for the baby inebriate set, but the staff is always prepared to deal with their drunken antics, and always makes the polite, well-behaved customer feel important. read more

My wife reminded me of the time we went here when I was studying at UVM College of Medicine and it was an "all you can eat" Wednesday. Been here so many times on previous visits to Burlington. So disappointed. The staff was mean and inconsiderate. Our order was forgotten. When we asked for it, they appeared to intentionally delay it even more. They stated it takes a very long time to make a sub. We had ordered 2 small subs (chicken parm and philly). There were only 4 other people in there, all eating pizza already. They completed several orders for people who came in after us, both pizza and wings. I can't really say what the food is like because after waiting 15 minutes for someone to wait on us we left. I've should have taken the hint when the hostess or whoever it was behind the counter barely graced us with eye contact when we asked if we should seat ourselves. It seemed more of sorority house than a restaurant. I'm not an unreasonable guy and fairly easy to please but common courtesy and basic customer service is a must. After having some pricey drinks at One-Half, we came here for some cheap beer/pizza and honestly to play the buck shooting game. I found out quickly that they also had the erotic photo match game and went for that instead of shooting animals on a screen. The guys went back and forth between both since they were clearly torn on what was more entertaining...shooting things or looking at naked girls. It's a toss up! The place had a fun crowd since it seemed less pretentious and more laid back than the bars on Church Street. When we got tired of playing games we sat down at a booth for a while just to hang out and chat. I've been coming to Mr.Mike's off and on for years. A friend of mine has taken over the joint in the past few years but the food is still great. Its a pizza and beer joint which has its fair share of college kids but its a good cheap eat if you're hanging around downtown. Today we had a slice of pesto pizza, bbq chicken, and the veggie pizza. The pesto was good and the flavor was subtle. The BBQ chicken pizza had bacon (mmmm my fave) and chicken finger strips and was drizzled in bbq sauce. That one was my favorito. My friend had the veggie pizza and she said it was a little bland, which I would expect...but all in all it was still edible and she liked it nonetheless. read more

Awesome pizza and BIG beers. As pizza prices go, it's pretty expensive. A pie and a coupla beers will run you well over $25. But if you're going for a slice and a beer you'll do okay. Tasty, slightly expensive and decent variety of flavors. Burlington has this odd habit of having food as expensive as things I would find in San Francisco or NYC. Because of this, i'm gonna always compare it to food I would have in those kinds of place. In that regard, Mr. Mike's is very average. For Burlington, its one of the better places to grab a slice. Found a hair in our pizza and staff didn't replace our food! If I could give this a ZERO star I would, this place is disgusting. The bathrooms are like a sauna and the management is disrespectful and unintelligent. "Good beer pizza" is how I describe this place to people. The pizza goes good with beer or at the end of a night of drinking. The chicken parm is okay. Being from the NYC area this pizza does not rank in my top 50 (I eat a lot), but it is good for the area. Slices are expensive and the specialty toppings do not add much to their overall rating. Its also a decent place to hangout and drink. This place as a whole is definitely better than the sum of its parts however. read more

The pizza at Mr. Mike's is great! It's one of the best Italian pizza spots in Burlington, and has a great selection of specialty pizzas (I highly recommend the pesto pizza and the buffalo chicken). The downside is that the restaurant/bar itself is a little seedy and grungy (and the bathrooms are rather frightening), and transforms into a chaotic drunken mess after midnight. This is probably one of the most popular spots on Friday and Saturday nights in Burlington to get food and beer, and since it's open until 3 am it becomes overcrowded with college students leaving the bars. I have seen lines spilling out the door with loud drunken people waiting for pizza (which have led to some rather entertaining scenes to observe). If you yourself are intoxicated and want to have a little more fun after closing time (and are hungry), then Mr. Mike's will probably be perfect for you in the evening. Otherwise, try to go during the day and avoid the craziness. read more

So I get that this bar might deal with drunk people and it's busy. But I was really disappointed in how the staff acted towards me at 11 pm. I haven't had anything to drink, I'm not belligerent. They have about eight types of pizza out for people to order as slices. I wanted anything with mushrooms or anything with black olives, they didn't have anything, which was fine. When someone orders a slice they take the slice from the pizza and stick it in the oven for a couple minutes. I asked if they could put even a little bit of black olives into a plain cheese pizza before they put it in the oven or even after. The girl behind the counter said it would be a pain in the ass to do so when they're busy... Usually I'm inclined to believe the waiters/waitress but I don't think It's very hard to take some ingredients you already have and sprinkle them on a single slice of pizza for a customer. Even if it's busy I feel like that would take a max of a minute, if that. This attitude really offended me and I won't be going back or recommending this place. After my day at UVM College of Medicine, I took a little tour of downtown Burlington. I found it to be quite the cozy little town, but it still had its share of bars, restaurants, and eateries. After picking up some obligatory maple syrup, I wanted to grab a bite to eat before heading on a 4.5 hour bus ride down to Boston. My friend suggested this local pizza joint, which has one of his favorite types of pizza. I found this place to be a little bit pricey for pizza, but was in no position to argue when it came to hunger and the chance to try new pizza. I got the recommended buffalo chicken pizza and also a slice of the three-meat pizza along with a soda. Total came out to be around $8 for the combination I believe. The buffalo chicken slice was really good and closely resembled the flavors of wings of the same name. I liked the ranch and the familiar tang of the spicy chicken. As for the three-meat slice, it consisted of bacon, sausage, and pepperoni I believe. I thought it was a little bit salty and was monotonous in flavor. One thumbs up and one thumbs down, but I guess an okay pizza place to grab a quick slice to go. The slices are pretty big too and kept me full for the entire 4.5 hours. The service was also friendly. I've never eaten AT Mr Mikes but I did order takeout a few nights ago. I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich, Caesar salad, and fries for delivery from MM. The delivery was very slow, however, the driver was super nice and apologized for the delay so that made me less grumpy (I was hangry- I'm sorry!!). My salad was delicious and I would definitely order that again. However (and this is my fault), don't ever order fries for delivery. They are never good. And this isn't just for Mr Mikes, I've never had a good fry delivery experience so you think I'd learn by now! The sandwich was good, however, the chicken had too much breading on it and it made it hard for me to eat the sandwich in one piece. But I still was left satisfied (but not satisfried...oi, dad joke) with this meal. I have yet to try their pizza so maybe someday I can change this to a higher star rating. read more

This is one of the places to go for drunken pizza at the end of a fun night (soon to be a rough morning). The line gets long but moves quickly, and the pizza is cheaper and smaller than Junior's pizza. But the grease makes up for this to help soak up your remaining alcohol and contribute to an improved day after.
