Son was leaving on a long road trip so he had the timing belt replaced with the water pump at the shop.The next day I took the car back to have them look at a minor exhaust leak.I was met by the manager Richard (Dick) with 45 years of experience on a power trip who could not figure out how to fix it without ripping of the entire exhaust (greed ) The cost of shop supplied 0.6 gallen coolant was $28 While the mechanics are good people I believe they have lost me as a customer along with my family neighbors and friends. read more

After doing my homework on this shop from out of state, as I'm in the process of buying a used car that was serviced here religiously according to its CarFax, I was shocked to read such stellar reviews on Google and FB. I picked up the phone and gave the shop a call. Nick answered and I told him I was buying a car and wanted some info as it had been there on several occasions. I gave him the VIN and he knew exactly the car I was speaking of and said he had even performed some of the oil changes. This meant the world to me and gave me more confidence in my buying of the car from several hours away in another state. Dropped in a couple of weeks ago because my SUV was making a whining noise. I was already told it was a belt pulley and wanted a quote to get it repaired. When I told the children behind the counter about it they didn't even get up from their BS session to listen to the sound, just told me it was the alternator and it would be $300 to fix. Ya, try $20 and a half hour. It's a shame that when an original owner (Mike) retires, the kids who take it over lack the passion, customer service and people skills to maintain the business. My daughter Emily and I visited Mr. Mechanic today (7/12/2023), we were greeted by Mr. Richard Strole. Mr. Strole is the Service Manager at the Mr. Mechanic shop. Besides being a genuinely pleasant person, he has a quick edgy sense of humor and is obviously seasoned in his field of auto repair. The reason for our visit to Mr. Mechanic today was in regards to work they invoices on 6/14/2023, just short of one month ago, the vehicle they replaced the timing chain on was purchased by Emily (her first car) just a few weeks ago, and all seemed well. She happened to have some unrelated repairs done by our mechanic, who reported that he thought the seal at the front cover may not have sealed properly after the replacement of the timing chain (work done by Mr. Mechanic), because there appeared to be oil leaking from there. I related these details to Mr. Strole and as we discussed the situation he explained that in fact we did not have a warrantee on the repairs done at Mr. Mechanic less that a month ago as we did not pay for them, that Mr. Mackey Hartman owns the warrantee since he was the person that paid the $2013.89 for the replacement of the timing chain, the warrantees are not transferable. While this was disappointing to hear, I was relieved and pleased when he told us that he would take a look at it and was going to take care of it for us anyway. I believe it shows great integrity and character to stand behind the work you do! Needless to say I was quiet impressed! Way to go Mr. Mechanic and Mr. Strole! In conclusion, Mr. Strole reported that he believes the leaked oil seen by our mechanic was old oil, that they wiped it off and drove the car quite a bit and saw no new oil leaking, which is great news! Mr. Strole recommended we keep an eye on the oil level and even offered that she could stop in whenever she like and they are happy to check it for her. He did tell me on our way out to remember that we do not have a warrantee. I am hopeful that there will be reason to need a warrantee, for work that was already done and inspected, reported to not be a problem less than one month later... I realize this review is long I just want you to know what you can expect from Mr. Mechanic and Mr. Strole. If you want your car back in worse shape than you left it, then this is the place for you. They "specialize" in import vehicles, but in reality this place has no business doing such work. We spent nearly 3 grand on our Audi, and within 10 minutes off the lot the car broke down on the interstate. We had to tow the car (at our own expense) and the owner himself showed zero remorse. To quote the owner's response: "looks like we won't be doing any business together in the future." I had to go to another mechanic shop in Cincinnati, spend another 1,000 to fix the mess that Mr. Mechanic created. I've never been so dissatisfied with a mechanic. Save you money and avoid this place. Calling this shop dishonest is truly an understatement. read more

Best place for timely repairs, honest prices and great work. They have serviced my 2008 VW Passat a few times and have always been great to me. Needed to get a used car checked out before buying and I'm from out of town, so Couldn't take it to my normal mechanic. Called and brought in the truck to have it checked out - within minutes they had it up on the rack and could see that it was rusted out and I shouldn't buy it. Even though it was a Sunday evening and they should have been closed, the mechanic there didn't even hesitate to look and our van. He found the problem and fixed it in less than an hour. What a find! People just don't run a business like this anymore. Charlie was absolutely fantastic. I took my 2010 Equinox in after multiple visits to the dealer who most likely caused my latest problem. A separate dealer wanted $200 just to figure out what was wrong. Charlie got under the dash and simply tightened up everything the dealer left "untightened" or hand tightened. When he started it up there was a new issue, so he put it on the diagnostic and no he didn't charge me $95 to see what was wrong. He checked the codes reset the system, the codes cleared and everything is fine. I am completely confident that had I gone back to the dealer they would have told me it needed a new transmission or at least the switch sensor thingamajig. Mr. Mechanic has a new customer for life. I've been bringing my cars here for years and have my adult children bringing theirs here as well. They have always been straight up honest with me every time. I'm going to pick my 2004 F250 from them right now. I was sure I had a lifter problem, turns out I had broken bolts in the exhaust manifold. They quoted me $850 to fix it, which is reasonable considering those broken bolts have been in their for 11 years. Just got the call, was easier to fix than they expected so it's $550 instead of the original $300 higher quote. How many shops do you know of that wouldn't have charged you what they originally quoted you? Not these guys. I've had jobs cost more than originally quoted with these guys and they left it at the original quote. The best of both worlds. I would never take my car or truck anywhere else. If you want it fixed right the first time, if you want a straight honest answer, Mr. Mechanic is the place to bring your vehicle. They have your back. So I was quoted $1100 for a full-kit timing belt replacement on my Jetta MK4 when in reality the average is more like $600 and $800 is the ultimate max. I hate to think they took advantage of the fact that I'm a woman, but you all know this does happen all the time, unfortunately. I'm not sure why they wouldn't think I'd do my own research before committing to this expensive repair. They also told me that my back brakes have some rust on them and that the rust should probably just rub off with wear, but that if that doesn't happen, then I should bring it back in and expect it to cost around $400 -- again, high! But there was no way that the rust would just rub off; I needed pads and rotors badly. My theory is that this was said to me to try to build my trust, that in essence they were thinking "hey, we'll tell her this so that she thinks we're not the type to push unnecessary services/products and just wait for her to come back in because she really needs new brakes." There's no way I'd go back there: I actually found a nearby shop with actual integrity. Sorry guys. read more
