Mr. Godwrench After talking with some neighbors that highly recommended Mr. Godwrench, I scheduled an appointment for regular maintenance on my car. I also looked on the internet for reviews (as I always do for just about anything these days) and was amazed at how many 5-Star ratings this shop received. Once I "arrived" according to my GPS system, I found it initially difficult to find where the shop was actually located. I quickly figured out the shop entrance is on the left side of the building (a different business has their entrance at the front of the building). I parked my car and strolled into the shop and was immediately welcomed by the owner, Tim Ellison. A very friendly guy that was able to get my car in the shop a few minutes earlier than scheduled. I liked the waiting room, which has free beverages, coffee, and some packaged snacks. They also have a free internet connection, a flat screen Roku tv, and magazines/books to read while you wait. I also liked how the waiting room has a big window where you can see your car while it's being worked on. By the time I got myself a coffee and surfing the web, they were already finished with my car - Very fast service. Throughout the interaction with the owner, Tim, and the friendly mechanics, I felt that this is a business that takes care of their customers by treating them with respect and not over-charging or trying to sell customers services and/or parts that are unnecessary. Overall, I highly recommend this neighborhood auto repair shop if you're looking for quality service at an affordable price. read more

Rude,Harsh and Condescending!! I am sharing my experience from earlier, so people are aware of the poor experience. The same review was provided another review forum. Got my 2008 Corolla for service and told Kory(one of mechanics) the issue with car which was related to wobbling, maintenance required light being on and asked for general maintenance, fluid top off and told him *UPFRONT* to provide me the estimates before making performing anything. Kory did not even provide a ball park quote or anything, he calls me within an hour later and quotes me around 1500$(for brakes,tires and oxygen sensor) and when I asked to do only general service and fluid top off, he proceeds say that they have to charge $250 for "diagnosis fee" and he also said they would take off the fee if I replaced all the parts and he also said that they charge the 250$ diagnosis, so I don't take my business elsewhere or do repairs on my own by looking at "youtube ". And, he started to falsely say that I got car brakes done else where fairly recently and that the previous person did a bad job and the brakes rotor, calliper etc needs to be changed. The last time I ever serviced the car was Oct 2022 and had dropped off at Godwrench's shop, I was charged for 55$ for brake clean/adjust and was told everything was good. This *$250 diagnosis fee* was totally unexpected and was a STICKER SHOCK to me. I tried to stay calm and tried to speak to him . He started to speak in a rude, condescending way, quoting a scenario if I walk into McDonalds or Walmart and tried to buy something will that be a sticker shock to me and What would I do? First of all, all these business have a menu card, rate sheet and don't offer service without getting the customer consent. Secondly, no one charges a 250$ diagnosis fee for 15 year old Toyota to check the brakes and check why the maintenance light was ON. And stating that 250 diagnosis will be removed if I paid ~$700 to get the brakes replaced,600$ for wheels and 300$ for oxygen converter does not seem right, if not shady. He later agreed to reduced the Diagnostics fee and charged me ~$50 after a lot of back and forth. He also rudely responded that he would have to charge me for speaking to him over the phone as it is consuming his time, This was the last straw for me. I went, made payment and collected my vehicle. NEVER WILL I STEP FOOT INTO THIS PLACE. They are UN-ETHICAL,RUDE AND NOT TRANSPARENT. I am starting to question all the positive reviews or was this poor attitude targeted only towards me read more

Always a pleasure dealing with them. Godwrench is my go to place when it's over my head. I do what I can and Tim and his crew do the rest. It's nice having someone I send my mom to that I know won't take advantage of her. She had another shop tell her she needed work done. These guys are straight to the point, no nonsense or run around. They'll only do the work they need to do and nothing more, and they do it at a fair price. I LOVE these guys. My family and I have taken all of our cars here for years and they always do an amazing job. I have never had a problem with any of my vehicles after being serviced here. I recently purchased a new (used) vehicle and brought it to them. I asked them to do a maintenance check on it to know what I was getting myself into before making the big decision and they were able to answer all of my questions. Out of appreciation for wonderful service over the last few years, I feel a need to reach back and review this outstanding business. I recently purchased new tires with them, and it reminded me of a time when I thought I would need a new tire because of a mildly aggressive leak. I ended up coming by just before they were closing. (It pains me to admit it, but yes I was that guy!) They were familiar with it as I had called ahead earlier in the week and they said they could likely fit me in between appointments to diagnose the need. In spite of showing up at the last moment, they took mercy upon me and checked it out. They were confident a plug would serve me well but wisely made no promise of specific longevity expectations. It lasted over 3 years until I had to replace them all. They saved my bacon as they were closing down a busy day. As far as the repair goes never had an issue. Both my old 98 truck and the window motor installed in my car, no complaints. however, on the window motor i was quoted one price yet charged a different price. Not real fond of the dad. The younger person assuming the don i have a better dealings with. To be honest the extra half hour labor the dad charged really pissed me off. read more

I own a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser that had extreme underbody rust issues. I'm not going to lie, it's an expensive repair no matter what. My troubles started when my stabilizer bar rusted off on the driver side ... so, I took my car to my local mechanic. Initially, they said it would be about $4k, which, to be honest, I was surprised how low it was, but they called back about 2 hours later and asked me if I could come down to the shop. After showing me the underneath of the car, their new estimate was now $12k and that would NOT be for any repair to frame rust. I love this car, but $12k and not have the rust fixed, well, I was ready to throw in the towel on the car. But then I reached out to Tim at Mr. Godwrench, who I used to go to years ago before I moved away from the area. Tim told me they just repaired someone's car with similar rust damage and to tow my truck to them and he said his estimate would include fixing the rust on the frame if they could. Tim called me a few days later and said it's a lot or rust, but they could fix it. The total cost after getting into it was $9k, BUT ... and this is the big difference ... Tim and his crew fixed all the rust on the frame as well as pretty much replacing all the underbody parts, pretty much making that part of my 2008 FJ better than any currently on the road. They were able to fabricate parts as needed which makes them a completely unique shop. I had been calling around for years to find someone to fix the rust and could find no one. When I went to pick it up, Tim and his crew showed me everything while still on the lift and I was so happy with the job they did. My FJ only has 95k miles and now I can drive it for many more years to come. Even though I don't live in that part of town anymore, I will never take my cars to anyone else. Just a side note. Before I moved away, I always took my cars to Tim and I can tell you with complete honesty, you will never find a better shop, a more fair place to get your car repaired and better quality work. Don't let the cost of my repair give you sticker shock. The repairs to my FJ were extreme and I knew they were going to be significant before having my car towed. But Tim has performed normal repairs on many of my cars over the years and I never found a shop with better people or a more fair approach and they stand behind their work. P.S. After having some issues with my starter that several other shops could not figure out despite having it in multiple times, Mr. Godwrench fixed it on the first try. HONESTY! TRUSTWORTHY! DEPENDABLE! TRUTHFUL! Everything you want and need in a mechanic especially these days! We bring all of our cars here and trust Tim, Corry and the crew to always be straight forward and upfront with us. It's hard to find someone you trust especially with the cost of car repairs these days. We brought our 2005 Lexus in because it just died on the road. Tim and Corry had it for 2 days ran it through diagnostic testing and gave it the once over and found nothing really wrong with it except a possible malfunctioning key fob which we are replacing. The kicker is they didn't charge us anything not even for their time! And this is not the first time they have done this. Many other mechanics would have said that they needed to replace something or charged me diagnostic time but not Tim! These guys are the best. Definitely, the best shop around us. We had an issue with our daughters Jeep while she was away at bootcamp. They got it in, diagnosed the problem and explained it so I could understand what was needed. Everyone in the shop was super friendly and respectful. The price we paid, especially for what I would consider an emergency repair, was fair. They also told me about things the Jeep will need. Many shops would have tried to to get me to buy these things during that visit. They even help me prioritize each item! I felt comfortable and at home with the whole team! Our experience at Mr. Godwrench was THE BEST experience we have ever had with an auto shop. We were in town to buy a used car and utilized them for prepurchase inspections on a few cars. Not only was the inspection meticulous, they also thoroughly explained what the cars were worth, the condition they were in and helped us make a good decision. I own five vehicles. Four of them are no longer under warranty, and three of them are driven by teenagers. As would be expected, it is not uncommon for me to have mechanical issues with the vehicles. THIS IS THE RATING YOU MUST READ My situation was about as bad as you can get; drive a car in with a small problem (so I thought) and end up with two cars with blown engines. Complete replacement of two engines at the same time...what, no way you tell yourself. This is my story and it is almost unbelievable. Please take a minute or two to read this as it gives a glimpse of the kind of person Tim is and everyone at Mr. Godwrench for that matter. My wife and I brought our new (used) 2000 Jeep Wrangler to Tim as a first time customer truly based right on the Rating you are reading now. We knew it had problems and an apparent oil leak, but didn't know how bad. Since we just bought it we really didn't have the resources to fix it perfect, but wanted the oil leak repaired. Tim understood and with caution to me said he could fix the oil leak and he did. What happened next is my story and it had me on the floor for a while to say the least. Tim called me to let me know the oil leak was fixed, but wanted me to drive up and listen to the engine before taking it home. He knew he had a bad diagnosis to give me, but also knew I would want to see/hear it myself. So I jumped into my wife's pampered 2007 Ford Explorer (64K mile SUV) and drove to the shop. Unfortunately about ¾ of a mile from the shop the Explorer made a POP/BANG and then sounded like I had marbles in the engine. I knew this was not at all good, but with eyes wide open and in disbelief I limped into his parking lot. I walked in to get him to help me with the Explorer, but he was eager to get me over to talk about my options with the Jeep. After stuttering out that my wife's car had just had something go really bad he stopped and said "let go take a look". Assuring me on the way that it was probably not too bad, the car is well maintained and it's probably this or that. We lifted the hood and he had me jump into the car and start it up. He couldn't jump around the hood any faster to tell me to TURN IT OFF. He now sat in disbelief alongside me and his crew. He had his crew lift the valve cover on the Ford to confirm, we all looked at a gaping hole in my engine and a valve completely missing. Tim knew that the Ford had a catastrophic internal failure and he had to be the one to explain that not only is this happening, but on two engines. That the Jeep, now with the oil leak fixed and oil pressure, also had no way of making it out of his garage. No one had heard of this from anyone, anytime; two cars and two engines DEAD at the same time and in the same garage. I literally didn't have a ride home. This is where I realized Tim was more than a mechanic, business owner or just a person of Faith; he was an instant friend and compassionate person. This is where he became my Dr. Godwrench and not just a garage named Mr. Godwrench. I was in no frame of mind to understand that my family just lost our main transportation for weeks, that expenses were going to be out of my ballpark and that I truly had no option. Thank God Tim did and before he could even talk to me about the mechanics of things he helped me first just land back on my feet. He offered me the shop truck to use as transportation and he began put together a plan that would give us options to move forward. Now you have to understand I am not a regular customer that has given Tim long term business, I am a first time customer that he doesn't know from anyone different. The options he helped me put together included fixing, selling, used parts, new parts, trying to get Ford to help...etc. They were ALL expensive and we just didn't have that kind of money. I am also not one to just hand over the checkbook so I was calling all over to see what other options I had. Yes, at other garages, the Ford Dealership, etc. No one was close to what Tim offered to help me and my family. Not the cost, not the service and definitely not the compassion. We now have both cars back driven 1K's of miles and they are running perfect. He has called and emailed me to make sure that we are breaking the engines in properly and to make sure we are happy. I cannot give Tim and his Garage a 5=star rating or a 10-out-of-10 because it doesn't do anyone justice to what he and his crew were able to help us get through. If I could give my experience at Mr. Godwrench more than 5 out of 5 stars, I would. Everyone there was incredibly helpful when I took a car in for a used car inspection. Even prior to coming in to Mr. Godwrench, I knew I was in good hands. Craig gave me advice over the phone of things to look for on the car before even considering driving it off the lot to bring it in for an inspection. Mr. Ellison and his team did a thorough job and pointed out several things on the car that the dealership neglected to share with me. I appreciated how Mr. Ellison walked me through various portions of the inspection; you can tell he cares about educating his customers and not just getting them in and out. He even bolstered my confidence and gave me some advice about how to negotiate with the dealership.
