I bought a car through the Hertz Rent2Buy program. All smoothing sailing to find the car I like, test drive it for three days under its rental period, and make the decision to buy. The sales office was helpful to get the transaction completed. However, when Hertz gets their money, there is absolutely ZERO contact. Try calling the sales office...goes to voicemail whose inbox is full. Try emailing agents...ghosted. I had to resort to writing a google script which would send an email every hour to ask for the paperwork to finally close the sale and get my temp tags and registration. In the meantime, until the sale was closed, I was getting charged $100 every day that the rental wasn't either returned or officially purchased. To the credit of the sales office, they did eventually respond and sent the paperwork. I am still bewildered at how I managed to fill out a purchase order and wire money, only to be sent the EXACT SAME purchase order electronically days later electronically. At this point I already wired the money and thought the contract was signed. Overall very pleased with my purchase, but not pleased at all with the sales office in Cincinnati. Future purchases from Hertz will avoid this office. read more

If I could give HERTZ a NEGATIVE 100 star rating , I would! We made a reservation at HERTZ for Saturday, July 1 at 9 AM. We arrived at 9:15 AM only to find that the office was closed. Another couple in an old van also arrived at the same time we did stating that they had reservations to pick up on Saturday. Website hours stated that they were open on Saturday starting June 18. Sign on window stated they were open on Saturdays. Google stated that they were open on Saturday. But on a piece of paper taped up sign on the door said they were closed on Saturdays. I did the online check-in ahead of time, never received a call or any contact stating that they were closed and that we wouldn't be able to pick up our rental, and I continued to receive confirmation emails about our Saturday 9 AM pick up Rental. We were very fortunate to have a car that we could take on vacation, but the couple in the van next to us did not. I called customer service and spent every bit of 45 minutes online with them while they tried to find another car for us, to no avail. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had with renting a car. If I could give HERTZ a negative 100 star rating, I surely would. Nothing was offered aside from refunding our money. It was just like a shoulder shrug... Sorry we are closed guess you'll have to figure it out on your own. Just for curiosity's sake, I tried to make another reservation on a Saturday and had no issue doing so even though they are apparently closed on Saturdays. I wonder how many more people will be stranded when they can't pick up a rental car because the office is closed ?!? They need to fix the problem. ZERO STAR! Seriously stay away from all Hertz locations. This one in particular has the laziest and most incompetent employees ever. They screwed us over a year ago when we needed a cargo van for moving and we ended up with a mini van. This time we have had a van reservation for over 3 months and now three days before pickup they can't guarantee one and said it's "first come first serve"! Why make a reservation then? They are also jammed packed with rentals for Uber drivers and the guy at the desk is just bad at his "job". How is this type of service sustainable? I will never use Hertz again and I rent cars a lot for work. I had a flat with ENTERPRISE and they came and picked up the broken car and replaced it, no charge and no questions asked. I got a flat with HERTZ, I had to pay to have roadside service and return the car for a new one on my own. Additionally, customer service didn't even know the branch was closed for labor day and I asked that question specifically. So I had to go there twice, and pay for it. When I had to get another car, I had to get a downgrade and pay the same price. They also tried to charge me for the gas back and forth to switch cars. When my car was fixed and I dropped off the rental, they were trying to charge an older lady with the premium add on insurance.. for $50 a day. I spoke up, which they didn't appreciate. I booked a set rate at another location. Corporate office called to say that my booked office was closed due to Covid, and said they would switch the reservation to this location due to such. This location refused to honor rate. Also placed me on hold for 20 mins- never came back- then hung up phone- I Called back and the phone rang for over five minutes only to be placed on hold again. I'm sure it had something to do with the fact they were closing in 5 mins- I'm sure they would have never came back to the phone- I just so happened to be in the area- so I stopped in. If I could leave a Zero I would. We had rented a car from Michigan to Ohio for 1 week. When we decided to keep the car for an additional week and return it to Arizona this happened: 1: as much as they say to do it online, we were unable to-several attempts. 2: phone call to renew at phone number on pamplet given, told to go into Hertz hub where we were scheduled to return it on the scheduled date, they couldn't extend. 3: into office at Hertz on Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, the price was changed for even the last week(almost doubled) and they charged us an upgrade fee for a vehicle that WE ALREADY HAD! We asked about just closing out the previous week, the gentleman(I use the term loosely) told us that then it would cost us $200.00 more! We drove to AZ, went to turn in the vehicle and was told by both the initial rep and the manager that we had been screwed! No kidding! They told us that unfortunately they could not do anything about it because the contract was written in Ohio. We called back to that office with no help from the rep or the "manager". Overall, Do not go to the Hertz Montgomery office location. What cost us $647 for one week ended up costing us $2164 for two weeks. read more

I've been a hertz gold member for more than 20 years. This is the first time a Hertz location has ever taken advantage of me. This location printed my rental agreement 2 1/2 hours before my pick up time and then charged me an extra day when I returned the car within a week. I showed up at the Hertz location at 11943 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio today on time at 3PM for my rental car that I reserved 2 months ago and I was offered a Chevy Bolt EV vehicle with notes on the window regarding defects in the vehicle. I told the employee that I needed a safe road worthy vehicle and I pointed to another Chevy Bolt EV on the lot and the employee said he could get me any car on the lot if I payed him an additional $50 cash. I told him that I just wanted the car I rented and we went inside so he could find the keys to the Chevy Bolt EV that wasn't defective. He came out 5 minutes later and said he could not find the keys and that there was no other cars available, even though there was a lot full of cars from different states. I initially did not rent an EV, so I had experienced a bait and switch situation, then there was an attempt to extort $50 out of me for any car on the lot. I took a picture of the employees and left immediately. When I got home I called the Executive Support Line and that employee (Joshua) told me that he could find me another car at another location, but it would not be for the same price. I felt like I was being extorted again. I am a Hertz #1 Club member, but I would not recommend Hertz to anyone who depends on honest customer service and dependability. read more

Don't rent from here. Customer service is horrible. Rented a car on-line to be picked up at this location. Half hour before pickup called and said they did not have the car. Although we received an upgrade, we were not able to get the GPS options we wanted- and that's really what we wanted for our travel. When I arrived, I was told I would be charged an extra day, b/c they were closed the following day (Thanksgiving Day). So I canceled the reservation, b/c I was not going to pay for an extra day that I didn't need. If they weren't going to honor my confirmed reservation as quoted, the least they could have done was call my cell number (which they had) in advance, to give me a 'heads up'. I'd suggest you avoid this location unless you have a plain vanilla car rental request. I went in with a question: "How much is the daily rate for a small car with full insurance?" 15 minutes later I walked out without my answer. I heard daily rates for all kinds of vehicle types. I heard several options for insurance. I heard a total rate for a four-day rental with insurance. But the question I asked, and re-asked, and re-asked, went unanswered. Hertz must hire people who are then trained to do the sales pitches, upsells, etc. The downside of this is they are not equipped to actually answer a simple question. We made a reservation through Hotwire for a last minute rental at this Hertz location. I understand we were there at 5:30pm and they close at 6pm and the reservation was made at 5pm but it went through. The email specifically said we didn't have to double check that the reservation was available. When we got there, the attendant couldn't be bothered to help us. Apparently no cars were available, even though there were plenty at the parking lot, and she told us to call back the day after at 12pm to check if they had anything available. We 'thanked' them and left to go to the enterprise next door. They were far more accommodating and even offered to upgrade our compact to an suv for less than what hertz was going to charge for a compact. It's a sample size of one unhelpful employee here but from our experience, you'll have better luck next door. read more

They rent cars with bald tires, bumpers not attached and if you are late for picking up your car they will give it to another customer and leave you stranded without a vehicle. I dropped it off at the time we had agreed do, but since they were not open, they decided to violate the contract, and no one is helping. This is the same company that once left me stranded at an airport in Missouri, in the middle of winter, because of a clerical error. 1 star is giving them too much. Scheduled a pick up for 6 and showed up at 5 minutes till 6. No one bothered to tell us when we scheduled that they close at 6. Employee looked right at me and locked the door early. When they walked out to leave at 6:03 they told me husband to reschedule and mumbled under their breath at us. This has been my worst rental car experience ever and I will never use Hertz again after this experience. I am renting a car for a month and had reserved the car with Hertz several weeks in advance. When I arrived on Saturday to pick up the car I noticed smoke small in the car. It bothered me so I went back in to ask for another car. I was told they didn't have any other cars available but if I came back Monday I could switch. I had no other choice so I left. I couldn't stand the smell so I didn't drive the car all weekend. I went in Monday before work adjusting my schedule to make it back. But when I arrived I was told no cars were ready but if I came back later in the day there would be. At this point I called customer service who was friendly but informed me the only other cars available were at the airport which is 45 min away. Had I been told this information on Saturday I could have made the trip but I did not have time on Monday morning to do this. So I returned to the original location after work. After waiting in line the car I received was not clean and had over powering air freshener. I didn't have a choice at this point so I left. After driving a while I noticed my eyes were itchy and I could see pretty hair in the car. I had to drive several hours and when it got dark the windows which were dirty caused a really bad glare. I will be going near the airport tomorrow so I will be requesting to change my vehicle then. This experience is completely unacceptable and I have and will continue to tell people do not use hertz especially at this location because their service and product is awful. read more

The service at this location and at the corporate headquarters is unbelievably and laughably bad. I was given a Hyundai Elantra to use after my Lexus was wrecked in an accident. On my way to work today, the brakes and then the entire car stopped working on Columbia Road. I managed to glide the car into a parking lot so that I could call roadside assistance. It took 20 minutes (including two wait times of 8 minutes each) to reach customer service where I was told I'd have to wait an hour for AAA to tow the car. Then I was told that I would need to take a taxi to the airport Hertz location after work to get a new car. Instead, I called my brother for a ride home and called the Montgomery office. I was told that no car was available and I'd have to wait for one to be returned. In a few hours, another lovely Hyundai was delivered to my door by a monosyllabic woman who couldn't wait to leave...guess I really didn't need to sign any paperwork. The coup de grace was the call that I just received, 7 hours after my car was towed, asking where the first car was since a tow truck had just arrived. I had to explain to someone in the Montgomery office that a co-worker had arranged for a tow several hours earlier. And no, I was not surprised that this person was incredibly rude to me. Perhaps the first sign of poor service was the barefoot employee sitting on a desk in the office, reading a magazine, when I first rented the car. Or perhaps it was the seemingly friendly man who tried to talk me into two different insurance policies. read more
