Updated review: I've been to Mr.Lyons a few more times and the experience has been progressively better. Most recently we had dinner at the bar, which is much more lively and I personally liked the ambiance more. The hostess was very nice, and had two seats ready to go. The service at the bar and from the bartender was impeccable. The menu has been modified, in my opinion for the better. Lots of new, fun, and interesting options with approachable prices for a steak house. We had the 4-layer caviar dip (amazing), Caesar salad (perfect), the 7oz prime rib medallion (great), and steak frites (on the money) with a side of cauliflower and leek gratin (GET THIS). This place was super chic! It had a Dark and sexy ambiance. High end feel and quite frankly the most exquisite dinner I've ever had. Definitely on the pricy side. But worth it nonetheless! The bone-in ribeye (medium rare plus) here is probably one of my top ten best steaks I've had. And the sides are fantastic, particular the mushrooms but also the fries, corn, and snap peas. Service can be hit or miss. Dessert is almost always a miss unfortunately. We've had three different ones and none of them have been great. read more

We loved Mr Lyons. It is fairly dark inside, so creates a warm, inviting environment. There's low key, low volume electronic music playing, which makes it feel more modern, but with that old school steakhouse vibe. Food was delicious. Good portions. The prime rib was excellent! We also loved the fresh baked dinner rolls. The lounge is nice and you can eat in there also. We didn't visit this time, but there's also another bar with a speakeasy vibe in a hidden corner...it is called Seymour's. Fun place if you prefer a true mixologist making your cocktails. read more

Started out the night with a couple of cocktails. the 1930 witch was a riff on an Old fashioned with Coachella dates. It was very very good. and an espresso martini also good. Food wise the potato chips said was excellent with the Parker house rolls.Also the Hamachi crudo was ok, but for the price I would of liked a little more fish, and Mr Lyons hand rolls were good Entrees the steak frites were great and the prime rib with potato mousseline, (Mashed potatoes) also very good. We were really looking forward to our anniversary dinner while vacationing in Palm Springs. The restaurant seemed perfect at first: a beautifully decorated space, a semi-private booth thoughtfully selected for our special occasion, and welcoming staff who greeted us warmly and wished us a happy anniversary. Our server was excellent, and both the food and drinks were on point. However, the experience quickly turned uncomfortable, literally. The temperature in the restaurant was stifling. The air flow was minimal, and the velvety booth seats trapped heat. To make it worse, the long tablecloths acted like heavy blankets, trapping even more warmth around us. It became unbearably hot, even for me; someone who is usually always cold and enjoys heat. We eventually asked to be moved, which the staff accommodated, but it was disappointing to be so physically uncomfortable during what was supposed to be a relaxing and celebratory evening. I understand it was over 108°F outside and the building is older, but for a fine dining establishment, basic climate control should not be an issue. Ironically, the women's restroom was *freezing* (a brief but welcome relief), while my partner said the men's room felt like a sauna. The final blow was overhearing a staff member mocking us to a manager for asking to move. That kind of behavior is unprofessional and, frankly, classless. It left a sour taste after what had otherwise been a promising start. It's was a shame food and service from our waiter were all top-tier. But when a restaurant misses the basics of guest comfort and shows a lack of respect behind the scenes, it undermines the entire experience. You have plenty of fine dining options in Palm Springs - I advise going elsewhere. read more

Awful service and dismal food. Wouldn't return even if it were free. Took over 20 minutes to have a server come to our table initially, after which he lied and said he wasn't our server. It took a manager conversation to get the same guy who was indeed our server to engage. The manager pledged to comp our first round of drinks and food, but when the bill came nothing was comped. The food was average at best, not remotely on par with the price point or other quality steakhouses. Late in the meal the server started bringing random side dishes, including a shrimp dish when one of our party has a shellfish allergy. Didn't ask a single question, just started bringing random food. The staff overall felt disorganized, unprofessional, and out of their depth. Monday 6 pm 3/23 had reservations. There were about 6 in the bar and maybe 8 in dinning room. We a party of 4 ordered cocktails- it took 45-50 min to receive them, our server did tell us they were "backed up" even with the place being mostly empty. Ok no big deal. Get the drinks , order appies, then received wedge salads, all timed out perfectly. The restaurant started to fill up by this time- and we waited over an hour for our entrees after our salads- WE had to ask what the problem was and our server said it was the pork chop we ordered takes longer- we asked "why didn't you tell us that when ordering"? When we get them- everything overcooked. Our pork chop was so well done when we ordered it medium we couldn't eat it. Even our server came to table and said "oh that is really over cooked, you ordered medium" so he took it back. As the other couple ate we wait, then manager came to table and said the would do another chop but again it would be a long wait- we declined- our friends had their food and the entire night was spent more waiting for things than receiving them. We asked for what could be served to us quickly- prime rib, fine. It was horrible, and cold. With so many great steak houses in this area at about the same price point we won't be back. The restaurant was just not busy enough when we ordered to cause so many delays. Went into the speak easy after, asked for Zambuca, was told they didn't have it, then a woman bartender comes in and hears us and is like YES we do. Pulled in and handicap space right in front was open. When we tried to park (placard visible) the valet would not let us park. He said "We own the lot and are responsible for it". Our server Sergio was nowhere to be found for 30 minutes when we sat down, no menus, etc. We were somehow the last table in the room even though we were not the last reservation. Our server was preoccupied with a table of girls instead of us the entire time. The sommelier was clearly drunk and never came back to our table when we had a request for wine. Incredibly awkward. Everyone around us was seated and served promptly and left before us. It was my 35th birthday dinner which we mentioned several times, all the tables around had some sort of birthday dessert moment and we didn't. I'm trying to remain calm, we went to Mr. Lyons tonight, had a 8 o'clock reservation. We sat at the bar, the bartender was prompt and welcoming. We ordered a couple glasses of wine, 6 oysters and some bread. The ambience was delightful, ordered dinner , a 14 ounce NY with various sides and couple more glasses of wine to enjoy with our meal. 15 minutes later our steak arrived, it was an abomination, it was a flat little piece, we couldn't believe our eyes, we ordered it med rare, this was a joke? The bartender wholeheartedly acknowledged that it was inadequate, took it back to the kitchen, chef said, yep, that's what they're getting ,We declined. I would give this review directly to the restaurant, but no one answers after multiple calls. Excellent service for a birthday party of 5 until the server left and handed off our table to another server after a bottle of champagne, cocktails, 2 bottles of wine and main courses. A busser loaded all the plates into a single pile at the table, forks falling, sauces dripping. Then, another busser brought a melting scoop of ice cream with whipped topping with one spoon (did I mention we were a party of 5?). The check was brought minutes later while wine still in the bottle to be poured. We also never saw the sommelier again after the handoff. I spoke to the manager privately and nothing was done, not even a visit to the table to acknowledge a complete breakdown in service. My sympathies to the first server who was excellent. We went here for our 20th anniversary and it was perfect in every way. Not one thing I can think of to improve upon! Impeccable service, from the valet, hostess, wait staff and bus boy to the bar staff. Everyone we came into contact with wished us a Happy Anniversary. They brought a little vase of fresh flowers for us to take home along with a very sweet card. And the food was amazing! I gotta say, whatever one thinks of the food here (I mainly liked my meal at Mr. Lyons) the service is positively stellar. Every detail has been so thought out, every ice cube, every wedge of lemon. The waiters struck the perfect tenor, walking the line between friendly and professional. A friend who was dining with me and who worked in restaurants for many years commented on it. So kudos to the manager. In terms of the food: we started with the wedge (excellent and super refreshing) then shared a ribeye (really really good) and a few sides (the sides faltered a bit for me - two potato dishes, the corn, and a more than decent roasted brussels sprouts.)
