Fried Potatoes: triple cooked, garlic aioli

Alice B is one of the newer restaurants in the Palm Springs dining scene, having opened just under two years ago. My first visit was right around their opening, and right away, I was really impressed by the food. I was excited to try Alice B again almost two years later. From the moment I walked in, I felt super welcomed. The staff was very kind, and there was an immediate sense of hospitality. The space itself is lined with beautiful paintings and art, however, it does have a bit of a hotel restaurant vibe. The menu is fairly limited. It is one page and doesn't have much variety. Specifically for seafood, I was surprised to see that there were only two seafood options on the entire menu, one being the roasted salmon entree and the other being a grilled prawn appetizer. There are some rotating specials that aren't listed on the menu, but it is only a couple of dishes. In general, everything was fairly reasonably priced. Most entrees are around 30 to 45 dollars, while the more expensive steak options are upwards of 70 dollars. There are three salads, all between 18 and 19 dollars, and vegetables that serve as sides for 11 to 12 dollars. We started with the Bibb lettuce salad, which comes tossed with cucumber, avocado, squash seeds, and snap peas in a green goddess dressing. At $19, the portion size wasn't huge, but the ingredients felt incredibly fresh, and the dressing was creamy and delicious. The herbs were aromatic and flavorful, and all of the vegetables were nice and crisp. For the main, the pork shoulder was a standout. It was exceptionally soft and tender, bursting with flavor the second I bit into it. It was served with beans that were rich, creamy, and textured perfectly. For sides, the potatoes were beautifully crispy, and we also tried a Brussels sprouts special. These were equally well-executed. They were crispy and savory, with a sharper cheese topping that did a great job of cutting through the oiliness of the dish. The only gripe I had throughout the meal was the service. While our server was a very nice person who clearly took a lot of pride in the food, the experience was mediocre in terms of efficiency. The food and drinks took a long time to come out, and the attentiveness wasn't quite there. Waters stayed empty for stretches and he struggled to answer specific questions about the menu. It often felt like he was rambling a little. However, the outstanding quality of the food really made up for any inconsistencies in the service. Alice B clearly has a talented kitchen and staff with warm hearts, but the slow pace and hotel-like atmosphere mean it's more of a relaxed, lingering spot than a polished destination.

We drove in mid-week and decided to finally try Alice B's. There were some very strong dishes and some that disappointed. The biscuits, which they are known for had a great crumb and flavor. We ordered the grilled artichoke, which was good, we asked for melted butter as the aioli was too heavy. The crab cake, suggested by our server was deep fried, and the salad that came with it was a tasteless fries and fruit. Majorly disappointing. The description did not say it was fried and it was very heavily fried. I've heard enough about this place to want to give it another chance, but the first visit was very lackluster. The vibe is kitschy and it's a little bit difficult to find. If you've not been there there is valet parking available at no charge to make it easier to access.

Poached eggs that were not the least runny. Soft boiled would be a generous description.

When it's great, there is none better. But it can be hit or miss. Was the seventh party in line to be seated and took more than 15 minutes to get to the top of the line. Was seated and the excellent wait staff took our drink order and ran through the dishes that they had already ran out of-and this was 11:30 am on Sunday. Ordered Eggs Benedict (my second choice since the monte cristo was unavailable). Would have been terrific if the eggs hadn't been massively overcooked. Poached should be runny. Just a bad day. Been before when food was superlative and well worth the visit.

Inside the Living Out community. Alice B is a location curated by the famous Susan Feniger. We attended Sunday brunch. Chef Susan personally was on hand and came to our table to greet us, sharing her passion, and ensuring that every bite was exceptional. The food was creative, delicious, and perfectly curated. The green shakshuka is totally unique. Whether you're looking for a fantastic lunch, handcrafted cocktails and bites, visit Alice B in Palm Springs.

Alice B's has a lively, interesting vibe that I enjoy. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. There is a large bar area, with live piano Friday and Saturday evenings. Robert, who was at the keys tonight, was versatile and talented. He transitioned from each song seamlessly while chatting and accepting requests from listeners. Our finely crafted and served cocktails were very appreciated. The bar menu was reasonably priced and the items we had were good. Dinner menu looks good, we'll be back to try it out!

Wonderful! Super cute comfortable place tucked away! The service was amazing and food was incredible! The biscuits.. wow. I picked on them for days with the butter and honey. I ordered the chicory salad and the burger! So yummy! I even had the pleasure of meeting Susan! She is such a lovely person. I mentioned to her I live in Vegas and visit all of her locations out here. I'll never say no to anything she owns

Is there something wrong with the acoustics at this restaurant? I keep reading about how loud the interior is?

Honestly I think the noise level is pretty typical of lively restaurants. And the food is amazing so it's not a surprise that lots of people are filling the dining room. I have heard that restaurant management is addressing the noise concerns.

The bar was backed up so we each ordered two drinks at once to save on the wait time. The Mint cocktails all around. We started with truffle fries to share and the touch of rosemary made them extra tasty. Plus with their homemade ranch! This was too good. We ordered a couple dishes like the charred cauliflower, flatbreads, bruschetta, and short rib. The cauliflower was very flavorful especially with the pistachios. The short rib was a hefty and meaty dish, very good. The mushroom bruschetta was loaded with mushrooms and really good with the garlic chili oil. Shout out to Brooklyn! The most edible item was the date appetizer, but not worth the price for 5 little dates. We ordered a salad, the half chicken entree, a flatbread and the short rib entree. The chicken was so tough we couldn't cut into it and sent it back, despite our rude waiter trying to gaslight us into believing it should be served that way and we must just not like it. The short rib, which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus looked as if it had been sitting under a lamp for an hour. It was cold, flavorless and the potatoes could literally be picked up in one chunk. The disco sun shareable cocktail was good, but we had to send back the crushed olive martini as well. It was pink and tasted somewhere between a fireball experiment and lighter fluid. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. There should have been some kind of apology but we were met with attitude and disrespect despite a nearly $300 bill for a mostly inedible meal. The prices are INSANE for being so terrible.

The drinks were strong and well-made, and even though the place was packed, our waitress stayed attentive and checked in with us consistently. It's clear they specialize in more elaborate cocktails, so a bit of a wait is understandable. The ambiance is also a highlight--dark, intimate, and really leans into the tiki vibe. **Night two** was the complete opposite. We accidentally mixed up our reservation time, but since the place was nearly empty, we were seated right away, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We had a different waitress, and despite being one of only a few parties there when we arrived, we waited **45 minutes** without seeing our drinks--while other groups seated after us were already being served (and even getting second rounds). We eventually had to flag down our waitress, who had hardly checked on us at all. When we asked about the delay, she said they were "very busy,". After mentioning how long we'd been waiting, there wasn't any real apology--just visible annoyance. She told us our drinks were "up next," but after another 20 minutes passed with nothing, we decided to leave after over an hour of waiting. It was disappointing, especially after such a positive first experience. A simple apology or some communication would have gone a long way. Sadly, the inconsistency makes it hard to know which version of this place you're going to get.

We happened to be a bit early since he had not been able to finish setting up shop yet. We went ahead and waited until he was ready without rushing him because we ourselves weren't in any rush at all. Surrounded by a ton of nice interesting artwork, it was a pure joy to enjoy a drink or two in this environment. Neil was welcoming, accommodating, and personally secured a table for our party of six when we returned after 9pm. His hospitality and the venue concept itself are excellent. Unfortunately, the service we received afterward from another staff member, Billy, did not match that standard. The venue is extremely dark, so we used the small table lamp to read the menu. Billy instructed us not to use it because it "wasn't the vibe of the establishment," and told us to use our phone lights instead. The tone was abrupt and dismissive. Around 9:50pm he announced last call. When one guest ordered, his response was, "I guess if you must." Others asked for a moment to decide and were repeatedly rushed. We explained we weren't aware they closed as 10, as Neil had told us it would be open seating after 10. He replied, "Yeah, well I'm closing tonight and I'm closing at 10." When drinks were delivered, they were set down forcefully. As we were leaving, a member of our group overheard Billy speaking negatively about us to another employee, including mocking someone in our group for needing glasses to read the menu and implying she was intoxicated (she wasn't). When this was addressed directly, he did not apologize and instead insisted we had overstayed, which is inaccurate. We ordered promptly after being told last call and left after finishing our drinks. We are locals who intentionally brought out-of-town guests here because we wanted them to have a great experience. It's disappointing that one staff member's conduct overshadowed what should have been a highlight of their visit. I won't assign motives, but I will note that Billy's demeanor noticeably shifted after the final member of our group, who happens to be Black, arrived. I cannot determine why, only that the change in tone was clear. Neil has created something special here. However, a venue's reputation ultimately depends on how guests are treated when ownership is not present. Based on this visit, there is a significant gap between the hospitality the owner provides and the service delivered in his absence. I hope Neil takes a close look at what happens when he's not present, because with the right staff, this could easily be a place we'd want to return to.

Most people who wander between the 2 take pause and awe for a few seconds before their mood shifts to match the room. Not a place to get sloppy and party that way unless it's a closed event. It's a great, classic PS lounge for when you have 2 groups of friends who you can entertain, the steakhouse crowd for dinner and the loungers beforehand. Sunsets on the patio under the string lights and couches is rich backyard summertime vibez.
