Exceptional! Food was super flavorful and beautifully prepared we did the prix fixe theater dinner, with amuse bouche, soup or salad, entree and dessert. All dishes were filling. The biscuits were Crack, the tomato soup was heavenly and my Italian chicken was to die for. Cocktails were expertly done and smooth. Service was very much attentive, friendly and en points. Atmosphere was wonderful. Lush mid century room (we ate in the lounge) with a great singer who practically channeled my brain for the selection. Everyone was in a good mood and enjoying themselves. First time at Alice B last night for our wedding anniversary, and we were looking for something special--something a little tucked away. It turned out to be exactly what we had hoped for. If you go, definitely ask to sit outside. The service was excellent from start to finish. Renata, our server for the evening, deserves a gold star--she took care of us as if we were her only table and truly knows how to make you feel special. We started with some bubbles--perfectly refreshing. The mushroom toast was beautifully done, the burrata with fennel was delicious, and we shared the ribeye with potatoes , grilled to a perfect rare, just how we like it. We finished with cheesecake served over seasonal fruit, which was a lovely ending to the meal. A great evening all around--thank you. read more

I had high expectations for Alice B's since it's literally down the street from where I live, so we decided to give it a try for dinner. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from the moment I walked in. I stood directly in front of the host for a full 30 seconds while he stared at his computer screen. He never once looked up or acknowledged me. I finally moved to the "Please Wait to Be Seated" sign and stood there for another five minutes. The restaurant was busy but not slammed -- plenty of staff were moving around, yet no one greeted or seated me. Eventually I just seated myself at the bar. The bartender handed me the prix-fixe menu. I waited another 10 minutes before he took my order, which included the spicy margarita. As a bartender myself who knows margaritas and bar drinks extremely well, that was definitely the most horrible, lackluster drink I've ever had -- watery, flavorless, no balance whatsoever, and completely undrinkable. I couldn't even finish the first sip. My first course arrived quickly, but then I waited 15+ minutes for the rest of the meal with no updates and no one checking on me. I tried repeatedly to flag someone down but couldn't get any attention. Finally, I had to flag down some woman who was cleaning the place and ask if I could just get a box top -- because honestly, at that point, I just wanted to leave. She brought one, but then -- if it weren't for her casually mentioning, "Oh, by the way, we forgot your main order, the enchiladas," I never would've known. I just wanted out, but I waited another 10 minutes for it anyway. In between, I asked the bartender -- the most dismissive guy I've ever met -- for the bill. I waited five minutes, then more, and more. He finally handed it over, then literally ran off. I called after him, "Hey, wait -- I'm gonna Apple Pay it!" He came back, mumbled something about $101, and I paid. No tip. None. I didn't even bother saying anything -- just done. I walked out to the valet and briefly told him what happened. He goes, "Oh, you must've been here on an off night." And I thought: if you're a five-star restaurant like you advertise, there are no "off nights." Sorry, but that doesn't earn you any kindness from me. Between the terrible service, that awful margarita, and the endless waiting, I will never return to Alice B's again. Alice B is one of the newer restaurants in the Palm Springs dining scene, having opened just under two years ago. My first visit was right around their opening, and right away, I was really impressed by the food. I was excited to try Alice B again almost two years later. From the moment I walked in, I felt super welcomed. The staff was very kind, and there was an immediate sense of hospitality. The space itself is lined with beautiful paintings and art, however, it does have a bit of a hotel restaurant vibe. The menu is fairly limited. It is one page and doesn't have much variety. Specifically for seafood, I was surprised to see that there were only two seafood options on the entire menu, one being the roasted salmon entree and the other being a grilled prawn appetizer. There are some rotating specials that aren't listed on the menu, but it is only a couple of dishes. In general, everything was fairly reasonably priced. Most entrees are around 30 to 45 dollars, while the more expensive steak options are upwards of 70 dollars. There are three salads, all between 18 and 19 dollars, and vegetables that serve as sides for 11 to 12 dollars. We started with the Bibb lettuce salad, which comes tossed with cucumber, avocado, squash seeds, and snap peas in a green goddess dressing. At $19, the portion size wasn't huge, but the ingredients felt incredibly fresh, and the dressing was creamy and delicious. The herbs were aromatic and flavorful, and all of the vegetables were nice and crisp. For the main, the pork shoulder was a standout. It was exceptionally soft and tender, bursting with flavor the second I bit into it. It was served with beans that were rich, creamy, and textured perfectly. For sides, the potatoes were beautifully crispy, and we also tried a Brussels sprouts special. These were equally well-executed. They were crispy and savory, with a sharper cheese topping that did a great job of cutting through the oiliness of the dish. The only gripe I had throughout the meal was the service. While our server was a very nice person who clearly took a lot of pride in the food, the experience was mediocre in terms of efficiency. The food and drinks took a long time to come out, and the attentiveness wasn't quite there. Waters stayed empty for stretches and he struggled to answer specific questions about the menu. It often felt like he was rambling a little. However, the outstanding quality of the food really made up for any inconsistencies in the service. Alice B clearly has a talented kitchen and staff with warm hearts, but the slow pace and hotel-like atmosphere mean it's more of a relaxed, lingering spot than a polished destination. read more

We drove in mid-week and decided to finally try Alice B's. There were some very strong dishes and some that disappointed. The biscuits, which they are known for had a great crumb and flavor. We ordered the grilled artichoke, which was good, we asked for melted butter as the aioli was too heavy. The crab cake, suggested by our server was deep fried, and the salad that came with it was a tasteless fries and fruit. Majorly disappointing. The description did not say it was fried and it was very heavily fried. I've heard enough about this place to want to give it another chance, but the first visit was very lackluster. The vibe is kitschy and it's a little bit difficult to find. If you've not been there there is valet parking available at no charge to make it easier to access. read more

Please please order the burrata with the dates , chef kiss ! The biscuits are great, I see why they offer frozen ones in the go! It's the sauce that the biscuits come with. The crisp as well was good. Now main dishes- the ribeye was super tender , only needed a butter knife to cut it. The bolognese was good just wish there was more meat, they had more tomatoes then meat. The crab cake is giant but that wasn't the star it was the pears and salad they had to pair with it. The filet was good as well. Again we ordered a lot of dishes, the second ricotta pasta I give that a 2 star. But everything else fabulous The dessert was good. Again everything had flavor , the service was great... drinks were good little on the sweeter side for a margarita I'll definitely be back. It baffles me that you can still easily get into Alice B on any given night when Bar Cecil (with its never-shifting menu of mediocre food) is the lines-out-the-door darling of the PS food scene. Hands down, Alice B is the far superior experience and for my money, the best restaurant in the Coachella Valley. I have been coming here since they opened and have come to appreciate it so much I'm going to invest the time to tell you why you need to book your next meal here: The place is modern with an upscale feel but totally welcoming vibe. But it means nothing without a menu to draw you in. The food is outstanding ... order the biscuits to start ... along with new dishes, the pork shoulder and burger evolve with the seasons, so there's something to bring you back and to look forward to. (I'm still longing for last summer's tomato panzanella salad!) The menu is also really versatile with pre-theater (it's close to the movies in PS) and special occasion options and now including brunch on weekends, which is worth a trip just for the Brie grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and onion jam melted inside along with a basil-tomato soup for dipping and swooning over. If you love Farm or Cheeky's, this should be your next brunch. Given the quality of the food, the price while far from budget is less expensive than far less-impressive local faves like Jake's or 849. There's a free valet. The staff is friendly. Alice B's has a lively, interesting vibe that I enjoy. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. There is a large bar area, with live piano Friday and Saturday evenings. Robert, who was at the keys tonight, was versatile and talented. He transitioned from each song seamlessly while chatting and accepting requests from listeners. Alice B. can be hit or miss. We've been twice and had one of each experience. One night they ran out of biscuits, which is crazy since that's what people come for...and they are delicious. The branzino is delicious, bones removed. The hamachi sashimi appetizer has a SUPER unique flavor...delicious both times. The Shepard pie is uniquely prepared and yummy. The salted caramel desert is rich...good for splitting with 2-4 people so you just have a few bites. More would be too much. The first time we ate inside at prime time...WAY too loud. The outside isn't the best atmosphere, but at least you can hear people. I think they need to remodel the space and it would be much better. The food quality gets overshadowed by the poor atmosphere. read more

You can't go wrong with anything on the menu it's all super fresh and made from scratch, but if you love seafood the amberjack Crudo is a must, it's fantastic and the Blackhawk Wagyu Denver steak is the perfect steak dinner very filling the meat is cooked perfectly and comes with lots of crispy smashed potatoes. Now whether you like biscuits or not you MUST order the biscuits because these are like none you've ever tried. They're made with cornmeal and they're so fluffy in the inside and crispy on the outside and they serve them with a cardamom honey. They're awesome! O don't consider myself a biscuit lover but I can't wait to go back and eat these again. Definitely give this place a try. read more

I hesitated to write this. I have dined at Alice B, s many times and have always given them a 5 star Unfortunately I cannot do so this time I was at Alice B Sat Jan 24th I was with my husband and a friend of ours : all of whom have dined here many times before I'm going to concentrate on my meal and experience I ordered the Italian chicken It came looking absolutely loaded with garnishment, that was not paired well with the chicken and surrounded the chicken so much that I couldn't get to the chicken to cut it. I took one bite of the garnishment and decided it wasn't worth eating any of it I then "tried" to cut into the chicken but it was so tough it wouldn't give I asked the server for a steak knife, she responded , you already have a steak knife I tried so hard to cut the chicken that the chicken slid towards me spraying "grease" all over my shirt. The shirt is likely ruined I was able to get one bite of the chicken and lost my appetite for the whole meal When they cleared our table the server saw I hadn't touched my dinner No one asked if everything was ok They just carted away the plate. I sat there kind of amazed at the lack of awareness I told myself I always had a five star experience there a negative review wasn't necessary On the way out while I was passing the hostess podium I decided to leave a verbal feedback with the manager She said there was no manager on duty I could speak with a supervisor The supervisor came out and i discretely gave my feedback She looked at my oil stained shirt and said nothing She never asked my name Something is in need of improvement at Alice B,s Hopefully they will recognize their entire staff was going through the motions and not paying attention to details I hate to leave this feedback but it's hopefully going to help them improve read more

We're from Las Vegas and want to try another places of this owner who well knows in our town.first The atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice for an apartment setting also the service was great as well . We ordered MEDJOOL DATE & APPLE and JAPANESE HAMACHI CRUDO, and both were excellent--fresh and full of flavor. And of course, we couldn't miss trying CHEDDAR BUTTERMILK BISCUITS. Normally, I don't really like them because they're usually dry, but here they were different--moist and paired perfectly with whipped butter and cardamom seeded honey .I'll definitely be coming back here again for sure. read more

This is my first time to Alice B and it is a little hard to find it first thinking that it might be closer to the street, but it's actually in the building. When I arrive, they do have free valet parking which I love and then you go in to see the hostess. I did have to wait a little bit, but it wasn't Easter brunch today. I had a mango mimosa which was lovely and I think what really took them to. The next level was their amazing cheddar biscuits. They served with honey and whipped butter, which are amazing. I then had the salmon plate, which was excellent. It had dill pickle, cream cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, and point of bread, which I brilliant enjoyed. The service was great and my water was always fall and I would have to say that I would give this four out of five stars. I would definitely come back and try a lunch and even a dinner there. All this afternoon is helpful and the ambience is very modern and air-conditioned. They also have a small patio outside. I would highly recommend this if you haven't tried. read more

Near the end of a day visiting Palm Springs, my friend and I enjoyed an early dinner in the mostly empty Alice B's. By the time we left, the restaurant was almost completely full. We opted for a table on the patio. My friend watched the tops of the mountains and palm trees and the sky gradually darken in the east, over the low wall of our table. My view was toward the colorfully painted and aquatic-themed mural on the back wall of the restaurant, as well as what my friend saw as reflected in the panels of the glass patio doors behind her. The service was terrific. We asked that our dishes come out one at a time and they did. Our waiter checked on us a few times. Unbidden, she refilled our water glasses from the bottle at our table. We started with three warm cornmeal-cheddar drop biscuits. A signature item, they were as good a cornmeal biscuit as I've ever tasted, crisp outside and soft inside, with cardamom-infused honey and a large pat of butter on the side. Next up: a generously-sized chicory salad with pomegranate seeds, pears, hazelnuts, a shallot thyme vinaigrette and crumbly blue cheese. We ordered the acorn squash, with pomegranate seeds and seasonings, which was a market day item. I occasionally bake acorn squash. When it emerges from my oven, I like it. However, after the acorn squash at Alice B's, I need to seriously up my game. The swordfish, tender and moist, arrived, accompanied by fingerling potatoes. No complaints. (My friend thought the dish arrived slightly on the cool side). We skipped dessert. I had a cup of coffee. Our dinner was the perfect end to the day as we exited through the dining room, past the piano player and the bar, and out to the front doors, to where we had free valet parking. As noted in other reviews, Alice B's is located in an LGBTQ seniors' complex. The restaurant is named for Alice B Toklas, an early 20th century American who, along with the American writer and life partner, Gertrude Stein, were part of the Parisian avant-garde. (They were hosts to the likes of Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Isidore Duncan, etc). Perhaps it's the growing pains of a newly opened restaurant, but there's a few things that in our experience need ironing out. First, the vodka martini my wife asked for came with an overdose of vermouth. The server was extremely apologetic and offered to re-make it -- which he did himself! The food menu is interesting though limited. We only eat seafood and vegetarian food but were still able to find options. I hosted 7 women at Alice B's. We were excited to try your restaurant for the first time. Upon arrival, there was a happy hour bar singer. She was a good singer, but the volume was so loud, we could not visit without screaming at one other. After the entertainment left, the dining room noise continued to be so loud that visiting was nearly impossible. For the price, I would have expected the meal to have been better. We had a 1pm reservation at this restaurant on a Sunday, which I understand to be a busy time, however it was 30 minutes until we got to sit down and we ended up going to the bar for drinks first as they had run out of cutlery to set tables. Instead of seating people as they checked in they took names as parties arrived continuously and then seated depending on party which I have never seen before at a restaurant. We sat down and ordered, food arrived very fast which was great, we ordered the lamb chops which was special and a pear salad with bread pudding desert. The lamb was in a herb crust but the actual chop was unseasoned and very bland if not for the dressing. Salad was amazing, desert too, although I had to wait 10 minutes to get a spoon for us both to eat it. Overall the staff seemed unorganized with even the greeter cleaning and laying tables between checking in guests, the staff seemed to be doing all jobs and not allocated individual talks which maybe were the problem lie as they seemed to be running everywhere. The ambience seemed nice if not for watching staff run in all directions I don't know who is the manager or staff coordinator but they need to do better with organization and overseeing the tasks and delegation, it was sad to see and the staff looked frazzled which made the overall experience not so comfortable. read more

We came in for brunch on a Saturday afternoon and have a lovely experience. We were seated outdoors but the inside is beautifully decorated and inviting as well. The brunch menu offers a wide variety of items from French toast, eggs, yogurt and heavier items like the pulled port sandwich that I got. My sandwich was very good with a generous portion of pork that had wonderful flavor. The accompanying roasted potatoes were outstanding. We tried the biscuit special which was chocolate. The waitstaff, while earnest, weren't up to the task. They were either inadequate in number or poorly trained. These problems were their manager's responsibility.
