I have been going to the Mr Lube location on 16 Ave and Edm. Tr. for oil changes for over 25 years without any problems until recently. Over the years I have gotten used to the up selling the attendants are encouraged to do, but I very rarely allow them to perform extra work because I have my own mechanic. I go to Mr. Lube for the convenience of a quick oil change. On my most recent visit I noticed the up selling had reached a new intensity. After asking for just a regular oil change, the attendant proceeded to try to upsell me on numerous items and services which I politely declined. After the oil change was complete I was told I would receive an emailed receipt. This was something new, but I agreed to this and left. When I got home I saw the emailed receipt from Mr. Lube and opened it.  I was surprised to find a charge for an 'engine flush' for $50 along with the charge for the oil change. Believing there was a mistake I immediately phoned the Mr Lube location and spoke with the manager. I explained that I had only ordered the oil change and not the 'engine flush' and would like to be reimbursed for the engine flush. The manager said he would look into it and get back to me, but he didn't sound very sympathetic. I waited until the end of the week, but the manager never called back. So I sent an email to the corporate head office explaining my situation hoping they would intervene. After not hearing from the head office by the next week I called the Mr Lube location again and spoke with the manager. He told me he had talked with the attendant and was told that I had ordered the engine flush and therefore I would have to pay for it. And that was that. The attendant's word over mine I guess. And now, in my view I just paid $130 for an oil change. Ouch! I have no idea how the attendant managed to misunderstand me. After the 5 or so upgrades he tried to sell me, and me saying "No thanks, just the oil change", I thought I had made myself very clear, but apparently not. And I was very disappointed after going to that location for over 25 years that my trust and loyalty wasn't worth considering. Ouch! The head office did call a few days after I talked to the manger and left a message that they had forwarded my concerns to the store manager. A lot of good that did. I will never return to the location and I would warn anyone who is thinking about going there to be very careful how you answer their questions, it could cost you. read more

I don't always get my oil done by someone else, but when I do I'll go to Mr Lube from now on. The Mr Lube team here is professional and friendly. Money well spent. They changed my oil, filled my windshield washer fluid, checked my battery and lights and other fluids, and offered to change my air filter and wash my front and back windshield. All of this cost me $66 and about 15 minutes. Yes it costs a heck of a lot more than what it would have to do it myself, but I didn't get dirty and it saved me about an hour of wiggling around under my car in the snow and then having to hold on to and later drop off the oil at a recyling depot. ...and despite what Honda will have you believe, they *can* reset the Oil Life light. I went to Mr. Lube on 16th ave for an oil change on my way out of town to Edmonton. They left the oil cap off the engine when I drove away. After getting a strong oil smell in the cabin, I looked under to hood and found the cap to be off and oil everywhere. Now I understand that everyone makes mistakes sometimes. If they immediately agreed to fix their mistake, I would not be writing this review. However, this location would not take ownership of cleaning up their mess. It took me countless phone calls to various Mr. Lube management people and 3 separate trips back to Mr. Lube for them to agree on paying for an engine degreasing. Then they balked at the $110 bill, saying it should have only cost $30. Eventually they did pay for it but it cost me hours and hours of my time. Now, six months later, the alternator has gone on my 3 year old truck. It is a $1200 repair. I got to wonder if the cause of the premature failure is due to being first soaked in oil and then in de-greaser. I would never go back to this place. read more

This place is your typical scam service where they try and up sell you crap you don't need. My daughter went there and they quoted her $100 to get her tires changed. After they changed them they told her it would be $200 because they were low profile tires. They also changed her oil. After changing her oil they told her they had to do a engine flush for $50. My daughter declined but they had already done it and charged her anyway. This place is a joke. read more

Mr. Lube sure does get er done. I had to hit the highway to Fernie for a day of epic pow riding and had my truck screaming for a service. Called Honda and learned there was no chance of a service any time soon plus the service was $400. $62 and 30 minutes later my ride was purring like a kitten and all was good in my world! went for an oil change at this location and before i even started my car i checked the oil level. i did this because they always try to tell you its low and you need an additive or whatever. even though i knew it was at good level they tried to tell me otherwise. i asked for no extras. the only thing he asked otherwise was if i wanted a regular or honda oil filter. i said honda filter. I got a standard oil change, took all of 20 minutes but he never did put the invoice up on screen. when it was time to pay there was nothing to sign or reference the amount. he insisted i tap only. when i got the reciept it was 91.00! for a 2009 honda accord. read more

Great service, shorter waited then quoted, and all the little extras like topping up my washer fluid and tires. The place smelt better then some oil change places and this one is across from Peters Drive In, so really waiting with a milkshake in hand is not too hard at all! read more

Got an oil change today at Mr. Lube. The service was courteous and staff was friendly. However, they did not put the oil cap back on properly, (it needed to be turned 90 degrees until it clicks) Because of this I got a check engine light in my car, went to see what was going on and there was oil EVERYWHERE. I checked the level of oil with the dip and it now barely reaches the minimum line. Tomorrow I have to get another oil top up to fix this mistake, and will be seeing that Mr. Lube covers these costs. Do not give your business to an establishment that cannot even put an oil cap back on properly. read more

Got an oil change today at this Station and experienced the worst the customer service in my life. After the staff completed the service and showed me the new oil on the indicator that they put into my tank, I noticed that the new oil looked fairly dirty to me, so made a comment on the oil to the service staff. A minute later, the manager of the station angrily came to me and told me that it was my car not the oil. He said that he was insulted. He spent 15 to 20 minutes blaming my car and my comment before letting me pay the terrible service and leaving the station. I have been in this station for service a few times because of some good reviews posted on Yelp. With current service, I would not recommend everyone to give their business to this station where the service cannot be trusted and staff cannot give basic respect to its Customer. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Very unprofessional service. Constant pressure to upsell. The kid who attended me tried to sell me a new cabin filter saying that mine was very dirty and needed to be replaced and then I told him that my truck doesn't even have a cabin filter and he actually got angry with me!! Because he got caught I guess. Lots of attitude when you decline the upsells and it seems they're not happy to have us arrive at their business, they need to squeeze everything they can out of you. I drive a VW, Deisel Golf.2001, I needed quick oil change, I had pre bought my oil as it is Syntheic 5w40. I ask if they will do oil change. Yes but even if I use my own oil the cost is the same. I ask if they change fuel filter, yes but they may need order as not always have in stock. Cost for fuel filter, $76 plus tax, I go home find my bill to see if I can return my oil, Yes I can. I ask how much for fuel filter $25 only 1 kind for my car. I buy. I go back to Mr Lube. Ask for OIl change with their oil. Then I ask if they would replace my fuel filter I have in my car. Where is your car. I show, reply then, no we to only use our products. Why do they have to see my car first before reply. Because now my oil change not $65 anymore. My oil more expense, My fuel filter more expensive. Now my cost for service is $200.00 I keep shopping. Maybe $100 but not double because I have VW Deisel. read more

The worst experience I have ever had. Fraudulent activity on Mr. Lube's behalf which resulted in a $1700 bill from my dealership who had to fix the problems Mr. Lube created. I will never go near a place like this again and will tell everyone I know to stay far away. You will get ripped off by their up-selling and your vehicle is at high risk for damage. On top of it the manager was of no help in reconciling the problem they created. read more
