The repair estimates at a couple of body shops were $3500 and included a new door and panel. For me this seemed wasteful and unnecessary so I procrastinated doing anything and some rust started showing up. Luckily someone told me about Augie's. Their estimate was under$200 to buff the scrape and grind off and paint the rust and it came in well under that. I could have also had the dent pulled out but since the vehicle is always dirty I really didn't see the need. Its not perfect but much less noticeable and the rust is at least slowed down. The people were so pleasant and helpful and knowledgeable. I would go back for sure... but I will be more careful so its not too soon.

We didn't want it to go to the impound lot where we would be charged big bucks. So, in our panic we thought, take it to Boyd's. It was a Friday after they were closed, so there was no-one to speak to. I left them a phone message explaining what was up and that we would have it removed as soon as we could. OK, so I got a bit of a bumper scrape on my car, looks like someone backed out a little close, and scraped the paint. Just a little too deep to "buff" out. When I took it to Renu, the fellow I talked to gave me an honest quote, and his honest opinion. Being that we could fix it, but the bumper is plastic, so it wont rust, and given that my car has hail damage, fixing the paint on the bumper won't add much value, so it's just a matter of what I can live with cosmetically... Honest, and fair advice! Incidentally, I got a scratch repair kit and wax, and it is 70% better, so I suppose I won't bother fixing it, but I am super glad for their honest advice! It would have been easy enough to just take my money, but they chose to be good business citizens, and for that I am grateful! FYI, I did get a repair quote that was 10%, and 25% lower than the other two quotes I got, and the service was much friendlier, so I know where I'm headed if I decide to fix this anyway- or if any other scrapes pop up.

We called on a Saturday & Kevin said we could bring it in on Monday. I'm in Calgary visiting my granddaughter so the communications were done with my hubby on Vancouver Island. On Tuesday, Kevin called my hubby to say what would be needed and quoted us a price. This is a 2001 Subaru Legacy which we leave in Calgary to drive when we are visiting, it has been an exceptionally reliable car which hasn't really cost us anything in repairs. Although it may not make sense to spend that kind of money on a car this old it has keep it's value. Kevin had given us a couple of options so as not to spend so much right now but we had decided to go ahead & replace all the rack & pinion, instead of waiting for the other part to go on us. Kevin called to say the car was ready on Wednesday (I was leaving back to the island on Friday). Kevin was so conscientious showing us the broken old rack & pinion and his brother caught that there was a nail on my back tire - which they patched for us, did a wheel alignment & balanced the 4 wheels.
