However, I shopped around for a while trying to find the best deal, and ended up going with Lakeview Automotive. I was nervous at what I would be told because I had neglected my car so much, but everyone was great! I was welcoming warmly and felt comfortable leaving my car in their hands; never was I once pushed to get any extra unneeded maintenance done or unfairly scolded for my neglect. I would definitely recommend checking this shop out if you're looking for some maintenance done on your car for a fair price!! For sure returning in the future!

Some charge crazy prices, some do shoddy work, and some don't even remember your name or your face. Then there's the Gigantelli brothers. Located right on 16th Ave, this quaint little auto shop is Calgary's best kept secret. I've had Joe and Tony work on my vehicle many times and man are they the epitome of honest and professional. I like the comment the AMA truck driver gave when I told him where I was bringing my car: "Oh yeah! Great guys! They're a dying breed. They really follow the motto that if you treat people right, they'll keep coming back." Amen brother! I've been constantly impressed by their incredible skills. Three different times, when other shops or mechanics couldn't figure out what was wrong with my car, Tony already had an idea of the problem, and sure enough, he was absolutely spot on. I know that when they fix my vehicle they do all their due diligence to make sure it is done right. My favourite part is that I'm not much of a car expert, but they're always happy to explain everything that happened and to give me some great advice. I always feel welcomed and valued there. I've even seen Joe offer a customer his own chair to a waiting customer. These guys treat me like family. They have the fairest prices I've personally experienced and they're sticklers for quality. Even when I've been stuck short notice or short on cash, they've always been super accommodating (more than I ever thought to expect from a mechanic). I recommend these fellows to everyone I meet, and often rave about the incredible way they always treat their customers. They are a class act and absolutely worth every penny. Usually mechanics have a bad reputation of being crooks, but these guys are proving the world wrong. Ten stars! :)

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they took the time to explain the issues with my vehicle in a way that I could understand. They were also very upfront about the cost of the repairs and didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary services. The repair work was completed accordingly and my cars always well taken care off, unless there was something else that was beyond repair and couldn't be fixed I was informed about it prior to any services being done. The shop is run by folks of Chinese heritage their might be the slightest communication challenge, but overall, Richard and his staff do a fantastic job at communicating. Overall, highly recommend this shop to anyone in need of mechanical repairs. Just call Ahead and inquire and book as they are often very busy. https://southauto.ca/ 587 349 3918

Hello, South Auto!!!!…read more This little auto shop is one of my best kept secrets - but I figured it's time yelp knows about it. This is a small, family owned auto shop that came recommended to me from a friend of a friend of a friend. The main guy Richard really knows his stuff about cars, and maybe more importantly in the auto business, is very genuine, honest, and focused. No upselling, no phantom problems, no crazy quotes. His prices are beyond reasonable, and he is extremely transparent throughout the whole process. They have convenient appointments and will really work with you to help you fix your problems. One of my cornering lights burned out once, and had I gone to the Mercedes dealership to fix it, it it would have cost me at least a hundred bucks or more. At South Auto, they special ordered the exact bulb, and he installed it for me on the spot. It was a quick thing, he said, so he charged me $15. $8 for the bulb, and $7 for labor. THAT IS UNHEARD OF. I was on the fence about doing my annual service at South Auto because I wondered if that's something that is worth doing at the dealership, but Richard was able to do it for 1/3 of the price, while still using the specified engine oil imported from Germany, etc. I'm sold! It's a small shop, so don't expect anything fancy. No plush leather chairs in the waiting room, no quartz counters with a friendly receptionist, no complimentary snacks, but man are the prices reasonable and the work top quality. The shop is run by folks of Chinese heritage so while there may be the slightest communication challenge, I've found all of them to be fluent in english especially when it came to cars.

OK, so I got a bit of a bumper scrape on my car, looks like someone backed out a little close, and scraped the paint. Just a little too deep to "buff" out. When I took it to Renu, the fellow I talked to gave me an honest quote, and his honest opinion. Being that we could fix it, but the bumper is plastic, so it wont rust, and given that my car has hail damage, fixing the paint on the bumper won't add much value, so it's just a matter of what I can live with cosmetically... Honest, and fair advice! Incidentally, I got a scratch repair kit and wax, and it is 70% better, so I suppose I won't bother fixing it, but I am super glad for their honest advice! It would have been easy enough to just take my money, but they chose to be good business citizens, and for that I am grateful! FYI, I did get a repair quote that was 10%, and 25% lower than the other two quotes I got, and the service was much friendlier, so I know where I'm headed if I decide to fix this anyway- or if any other scrapes pop up.
