I don't know why my review didn't stick (my problem). I needed my HID lighting replaced. I originally didn't get them from Mr. Kustom. I thought the installers knew what they were doing. It worked fir a while. When I needed replacements however, they were nowhere to be found. So I searched around and found Mr. Kustom. They answered the phone right away and were able to schedule me in. They did a phenomenal job and explained to me what needed to be replaced and why. They tried to salvage my old system but weren't able to because of the hack job of the previous installer. But everything works now and I'll be going back for more. Please give them a try. read more

Had these guys put a soft top on my jeep and replace the stock headlights with new LED ones. They did an awesome job on everything, the headlights look and work great. Had a minor issue with the soft top but they replaced the one section no questions asked. Mr Kustom is not the place to take your car if you want fair prices, high quality work- complete tint jobs, audio upgrades, even remote starters! Although they have a wide variety of accessories, they charge at least twice the price what another shop just 10 blocks north on Elston ave charges for the exact same installs, only the other shop gives a "Lifetime Warranty" on their tints, and you can choose anywhere from 65%-5%, and they do NOT jack you around on BS pricing- and no "bait and switch" tactics either! My car was taken here to have a car alarm system and remote starter installed as a gift. Upon having issues with my alarm not working and my car not starting in the morning, I took my car to have it checked out by them. The general manager Richard insisted that it was my car and not the system they installed without even having a technician look at it. Since it was a gift I had no reciept and they keep NO RECORDS of anything done (according to Rich). I had to have a new system installed at another place and they found that there was a wire that was not connected which was giving me the problems with my alarm and remote starter. This is not the first car done by this place that my family has had issues with. Please do not take your car to Mr. Kustom! read more

I have had remote starts put on 2 cars in the past. One was an Acura Rdx everything went fine it just took 8 hrs to get my car back. The second car was a 325i bmw and that was a nightmare. They didn't have the modules than they did. They had my car for 8 hrs again but this time when I went to pick up I still waited in there shop for an hr and a half. I had nothing to do since I was dropped off. I believe it was the owner who comes up to me and says here is a shirt from our shop. I'm like Thanks but I'm never going to wear that. Now a few days ago I call for an estimate on a Range Rover truck remote start. I called at 10am and they said I need to speak to bryan or ryan. And he's not in till noon. I call at 3pm to be told he was busy. I call the next day and I'm told he has left for the day and it was about 2pm. Finally I called yesterday and was put on hold for 18 minutes and after a few different associates who kept answering and asking what I was waiting for I get the news that the guy I been looking for has been gone for a while already. It's like 4pm now. Guy has a sweet schedule. The guy who tells me the news is like oh I can get someone else to give you a quote I just thought you wanted to work with just Bryan. So here I go on hold again. In about 5 minutes the guy gets back on and says yea the owner says only Bryan can work on your kind of car. At that point I felt like I had given this place a few chances. I have spent about $1500 on the last 2 cars I had remote starts put in and with the Rover I was planning on doing the smart start that I know ranges from $900 -$1200 on my car. So it's there loss. I am on my way to MK auto on Cicero who said we just need to check out your car really quick and we will have a price for you in a few minutes. I tried supporting these guys but it looks like they don't need the business. They have no records of anything and anytime you go in there you have to start all over with them even if the guy you're working with was the one you worked with last time. read more

I called Mr Kustom a week in advance & set up an appointment to bring my car in to get the windows tinted. I made it clear that I needed to bring my car in by 9am & that I would pick it up after work. They tell me it takes 3 to 4 hours to do the job. So the car will be ready by 1pm the latest. I get there at 5pm (they have my car 8 hours) and the guy (Rich I believe) tells me that it will be another 30 mins. The car is suppose to be ready 4 hours ago & he says he will put a rush on it!! It's 4 hours late & he is putting a rush on itonly because they close at 6pm!! He tried to smooth things out but he just made it worse by telling me he is sorry for the miscommunication. There was no miscommunication on my part. They simply did not deliver on their promise. The actual job seems fine so far. It was a simple window tint job & the quality of works seems fine. Horrible, nothing but regret. Bought a remote start/alarm system for my truck (long range,lcd remote,temp sensor). Never worked right, failed to start vehicle here and there, eventually the system locked up. The salesman who sold me the system said that Mr. Kustom would stand behind the product and labor and would repair or replace it if the system needed repair included in the $600 pricetag (as long as I owned the truck). I made an appointment, came in and spoke w/ Mike. Mike said that the salesman who sold me the unit no longer worked there and that there was no lifetime warranty on the system or labor; he went on to say that the salesman said a lot of things to a lot of customers.. and that's why he no longer works there. Whatever.. After hearing my complaint he went on to tell me that he was sure that if the problems I was having with the system were as bad as I described, I would have come in much sooner. After wiping the spit from brow, I threatened lawsuit, Mike said that would just be dumb.. I insisted that I would on sheer principal. He countered with.. I can upgrade your system. So $200 later I have a new state of the art system, better than the first in every way, upgraded key fobs, longer range remote. Stupid me..I just wanted a warm car in the winter. 3 months later intermittent issues. The system chirps (unprompted) and goes offline and can not be brought back online, whenever it decides to come back online, it chirps again and returns to function. I can't stomach dealing with Mike, his partner with the dutch-boy hair cut or anyone else at Mr. Kustom. Nothing but regret for ever walking through that door. Go somewhere else, get everything in writing, and save that receipt. Business is grown through referral, I will steer anyone that asks away from them. When they performed the "upgrade" they tried to keep my original receipt, I asked for it back and they stapled the receipt on top of the old one and hand wrote in manufacturers warranty only after the fact and after the work had been done. It is easy to give a 4 or 5 star review when the work or product you receive is of good quality. It's when the things go wrong that the true measuring stick comes out. Be fair, make it right and minstrels will write 5 star songs about you. Treat your customers poorly and feel the yelp effect. If you want rudeness, and regret, go to the clowns at Mr Kustom. I got some puddle lights from them and they are sweet! Killer detail but after only 4-5 months of use the one image is faded BAD and the other one only works sometimes. I've emailed them asking about their warranty numerous times and no reply! For the money I spent on these and the time I had to wait for something that's premaid I'm very dissatisfied!!! I really don't recommend this place at all...... I repeatedly called and went in for a quote and they were not helpful what so ever. I set an appointment to recolor my middle console and the man that does this job for Mr. Kustoms only comes in Fridays. They had my car waiting for a few hours and if I don't call in. They never mention the guy doesn't have time. That happened twice and they could care less. I never got my console fixed, but Showtime Audio said they would look at it. MR. I will not return to this business!!! They do not respect my time and long drive to give them my business. I drove from Joliet il to have windows tinted and fog lights installed. I get there and the fog lights that were ordered did not arrive. They could of called me to tell me so I didn't have to make two trips that are close to 100 miles round trip and scheduled for when everything was there. Now I had to come out again the next week. Ok, I'm patient so I get the call the the fog lights have arrive so I make an appointment for 9 am and take the 2 hour drive up there 4 hours round trip. I get there and they tell me the install will not happen till 10 am because that's what time THERE guy is in. Why did they except my appointment for 9am. So here I am on MY time sitting wasting time waiting on THEM. Never Again .... I was going to have them do a electric sunroof install and a cruise control install but they now lost my business!! read more

I was very pleased with the quick service that I received, and they did a great job installing the retractable front license plate bracket. Being uncertain whether or not it was possible to install on my car when I called, Mike asked me to bring the car in and so they could check it. Out of this world professionalism and craftsmanship. Contacted Oracle Lighting Systems and they referred me to Mr. Kustom. Wow! Now I know why Oracle sent me to them. Was greeted immediately with a smile and firm handshake. I immediately started bombarding them with questions and Joe listened to every word. We discussed the work that I originally came in for, but thanks to Joe's knowledge I came out with something more than I could have ever imagined. Problem: needed a custom trailer hitch for 370Z Roadster. There was no factory hitch available. Searched Internet and started to call around. Manufacturer- wouldn't touch it as it is not rated to pull anything; U-Haul wasn't interested. Solution: Then I called Mr. Kustom. No problem. They did an excellent professional install. Wow! I've read a lot of negative reviews about this place which is surprising because my experience was quite good. I called for pricing on some accessories for my 2011 Nissan Rogue and Joe set up a consultation for me. The customer service was amazing! I was a little nervous going there alone being that I'm a woman and I was afraid that they would try to hassle me for more money or not give me the time of day; not at all what I experienced. The gentlemen behind the counter went over all of my options and pricing on fog lights and bull bars and were both quite helpful and patient. Parts came in a few days later and were installed the next day. Everything works and looks amazing!! The ONLY reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is because it was kind of pricey. We're a rock band that puts 50,000+ miles a year on the odometer and Mr. Kustom is our go-to for getting our Sprinter van in shape to hit the road. We've had them do a few jobs for us-- tinting the windows for security, getting the best headlights out there, and rigging our van with house power so that we can keep writing and recording while on the road. My regular car place (which is absolutely fantastic - but only if you have a volvo) sent me here when i had a problem with my car alarm. It would sound every time I unlocked the car and opened the door, and would not let the car start once the alarm had been triggered, so I asked that they just please remove it. They checked it out and said, no problem, it will be less than hour. Sure enough, the whole job took about a half an hour. I paid Mr. Kustom 90 bucks and left. Just yesterday my car alarm was triggered when I unlocked the car and opened the door. So, needless to say, I'm not sure what they did, but they didn't do anything. read more

I was a bit skeptical on my first visit when asking to have the chrome window trim on my BMW overlayed with black vinyl to give it a 'sport package' look. My initial 'vibe' was that this was an ad-hoc type place that performed limited/skill work. Luckily I was dead wrong. They kept me in the loop on the process and did a flawless job (same day).
