Small business treating people right. Had my two front windows tinted to the IL legal limit on a 2026 Tesla Y. The owner (Erick) showed samples of the legal limit and one shade lighter. He took time to help me decide and answered questions. Did not shop around much, but it was a fair price. SkinzTek was a referral from a coworker who used them due to good reviews. I rarely leave reviews but I felt that Eric from SkinzTek was more than deserving of 5 stars from me. Normally, I like to do as much work on my own vehicles as possible, unfortunately tinting is not one of them. When it comes to leaving my car for a professional service, I am naturally picky and somewhat distrusting as I have had negative experiences from independent shops and dealers alike. But SkinzTek was different. On June 8th, 2023, I decided to call around for quotes to get my E36 M3's windows tinted. After a quick Google search, I decided to call SkinzTek. Knowing I had very specific instructions and requests, I knew that some shops would be annoyed - but not Eric! Eric from the start was amiable, professional, and more than accommodating with all of the questions I threw at him. So I decided to give him a shot. The following day, the 9th, I drove into his shared facility with GridLife (a grassroots Motorsports / lifestyle brand) and was greeting with a warm welcome. Normally I would leave my car and come back but Eric was more than happy for me to hang around and ask more questions about his work. Throughout the entire process, he was happy to show me his skills and progress. This was new to me as most tint shops will have you wait in a lounge. He guided me through the entire thing! Eric was incredibly professional the entire time and was even more patient with me. He showed respect to the car and myself and cared about the quality of work he does. He did not hesitate to restart a window because of a tiny spec of dust that was trapped within the film (and I got the expensive kind!) To put it simply, I do not have any doubts of his craftsmanship, quality of work, and care and feel comfortable enough to bring my other cars back to him. I have always wanted to get my Toyota Tundra's windows tinted. The rear passenger windows come stock with smoked glass, but when the heat of a Chicago Summer creeps up, additional tint doesn't hurt. I found one place in Glenview and was quoted an outrageous price, almost $800 for four windows and the rear glass. I contacted SkinzTek and requested an online quote. I received one later that day, about 4 hours later and then Alex and I began texting. I have to admit that I'm not very savvy when it comes to different types; ceramic, obsidian, IR. Alex was very good at explaining how it all worked. The price was also much better than the competitor that I called earlier. I arrived in the schedule date and Alex walked me through the whole process. He had a very bright, clean shop and was able to show me the difference and heat reduction. Alex told me that the job would be done in 3.5/4.0 hours. True ti his estimate he called around three and 1/2 hours later. I went to pick the truck up, it was beautiful. The rear passenger area was completely blacked out and nothing was visible from looking in from the outside. There were green rectangular stickers over the electric window buttons which reminded me to not lower the windows until they were fully cured. About a day according to Alex. I wanted a few weeks to make my review as I wanted to really see how well they worked. With the recent heatwave I can happily attest to its heat and glare reduction. Give them a shot. About a month ago I had 3M paint protection film applied to the front of my 2011 Porsche Boxster S. This replaced 3M film that was 13 years old and had a few nicks and discolorations, but it had protected my car very well over the years. Erick did a great job removing the old film and applying the new PPF. It was clear that he was super attentive to quality, much more so than then the original installer 13 years ago. I've had tints installed on at least a half dozen of my cars, usually Llumar or Suntek ceramics. I just picked up a daily runaround car that I didn't quite want to spend $500-700 tinting. Found SkinzTek on GoogleMaps and the location was very convenient, so I made an appointment. Even though I went with a more affordable film, the entire experience was premium all the way. Easy scheduling, very quick response, an excellent installation very carefully done, an absolutely perfect experience. An unexpected bonus: met another passionate car person with ties to the Chicago automotive community AND when they saw I was wearing a mask they very considerately put one on as well even though we were in an enormous warehouse space with no one else around.
