On vacation in Crystal River and Hub and I were hungry for Chinese food, on a recommendation we tried Mr King. Located in a small strip mall, we were kindly greeted and seated in a booth. Our waitress gave us time to look at the large menu, brought us ice water with lemon and took our order. We went around 5PM on a Sunday, by 5:30 the place was full. Boothes on both sides of room, tables for larger groups in center. Very clean and well maintained with Chinese decor. They also have a drive thru window, how nice is that!! Our dinners came with choice of egg drop or wonton soup, I had one choice, hub had the other. You also got a bowl of fried crispy noodles to munch on or put in the soup. Both soups were just delicious and piping hot! I ordered the Chef Recommendation House Garlic Shrimp, I chose pork fried rice over the steamed choice. Garlic shrimp were in a red garlic sauce with finely chopped green onions, and tree were 10 big size shrimp! I ordered my dinner med hot and it was perfectly cooked and just delicious, I was very impressed with my choice, yum!! Hub ordered Chef Recommendation House Special Pan fried noodles that included chicken,shrimp, beef with an array of veggies over pan fried noodles. What a huge portion of food in a big dinner plate! He loved it and also was impressed as well . The locals dine here you can tell, waitstaff knows their names!! Prices were very reasonable, generous portions of great tasting food! Simply the best Chinese food ever and that comes from eating Chinese across the USA. Some dishes are incredibly good and healthy... try ginger beef, chicken with black bean sauce, or Chinese Eggplant szechuan. A very small and informal dining in or drive thru take out. The portions were generous without being overly huge. The food was very fresh. It seemed like the sort of place mostly frequented by locals. I come from Seattle where there are a ton of Asian restaurants and this one doesn't come close to the worst of them. I ordered garlic chicken assuming it would not be fried and requested white rice. My only complaint was the high level of MSG, which kept me and my companion awake and jittery all night. Outstanding food and great service! This place is hidden in a little strip mall off the main highway. You have to be looking for It to find it. It's worth the look! The pork dish, i could not tell what kind of dryed out meat it was! Thought they got the order wrong....everything deeply fried in ol oil. Nothing fresh or light about anything and everything seemed like it came from a buffett left out all day. We could barely eat any of it, way too greasy, everything the same color of burnt..... I have ordered from there over 6 times through the carry out. Its close to my house but I have always been disappointed in there food. It's cold and not fresh. Tonight I thought I'd go in and sit down for a meal. Being there I thought it would be different. WRONG! The crab Rangoon was just bad. The filling taste old and the greasy wrap you couldn't eat. I can honestly say that this is some of the best Chinese food I've had In a long time. The hot and sour soup is perfect. Not to mention those wide crispy noodles that you typically don't find much in restaurants anymore. I recently tried the shrimp and lobster sauce, and it is by far the best I've ever had. The egg and pork sauce is thick and gelatinous, with the perfect hint of garlic, and is served with six or so good sized shrimp that have that wonderful snap when bitten into. The egg rolls and spring rolls are each served with a complimenting sauce. Have not eaten in the restaurant yet, but from what I've seen of it is sure to be a great experience. read more
