Been there twice. The first time, we needed three separate keys duplicated... the guy behind the counter had great difficulty in identifying any of them, and as a result we were there for a very long time. He was friendly enough, he just was rather unsure of how to translate one manufacturer's key blanks into the stock they had on hand. (btw, as an FYI: the keys were not cheap - two of the three were $6 apiece, while one was a more reasonable $3.) Here's the kicker, though. I went there again today, to get another copy of the least expensive of the three keys. The first problem was finding the store closed at 2:45 - a hand lettered sign implied they were out to lunch... but as I was leaving, the sign was removed and the door unlocked. Great - so I went in and got my key made. All went well until I got the bill... this time I was charged $6 for a key that cost $3 two months ago (I checked my previous receipt when I got home to make sure - we had kept it to have a record of Mr. Keyman's stock numbers should we ever need more of those keys made) When I questioned the price, I received no answer, I was just asked to pay and then handed the receipt and the key. Two different reasons, but we had two less than stellar customer service experiences out of two visits. Based on that, sorry to say, I just can't justify recommending these guys to anyone. read more

I accidentally got locked out of my bedroom, and the windows were shut too - so I called them up and John came out within 30 minutes and had the door open, made me two keys, and while he was here had him make a key for my front door. My car was a fickle B and it took him over 4.5 hours to get my car re-keyed but this guy delivered even though he had to stay with the vehicle till past 9pm when he showed up at 4:45. His machine and my car did not want to cooperate so what does he do? He drove 20 miles to get a different machine and 45 min later got me on the road. John was amazing. Did a service call to the house to re-key 13 lock cylinders for my new house. He's very well organized and works intelligently (think lean manufacturing for all you industry buffs out there.) He has a very high focus on quality, using much better machines than your standard home depot keymakers. He makes certain that you won't get "ghost keys" (close matches that may work if jiggled right) for your locks, ensures the transitions are smooth, and even adds lubricant to all the locks. The locks all function much better than before he came. Not to mention it only took about an hour and a half at a relaxed pace due to his organization skills. Definitely worth the money. Excellent service. Fast response. Seems to be good price. I called before 8 am and asked John to be at my place asap. He was on the way to another job and said he could get to my house by 10. Well he was at my house by 9:30, changed 3 locks and made key copies. He even helped me with a dysfunctional garage door and didn't charge me! I am not sure of how competitive it is for lock replacements and making keys but I walked away with a $100+ bill. Do I think it could have been done at a lower cost? Possibly $10 less. I came to get a surfer key cut for a 2012 civic that I just bought used. The employee Matt there that morning was was efficient and friendly. Made a copy, went to open the door and test it. Wouldn't go in the lock to unlock it, so he said it's a common problem w these newer laser cut Honda keys. They wear out the wafers in the lock bc the keys are thick. John the owner just returned so he assisted. He said it's $125-150 to refurbish the lock. Upon removing and getting into the lock he discovered a piece of plastic that was jammed in the lock obstructing the key going in. He showed me everything and is very transparent about things. So he replaced the wafers while in there, said they were a bit worn anyways. John seems fair and explanatory and I appreciate that. Good experience. read more

OK, I love these guys. They can make autoimobile chip keys and sync replacement remotes while you wait, for a price about 1/2 that of what the dealer would charge you. (It don't have to have a bow-tie embossed on the keyhead in order to make it work right!) They also sell home and commercial locksets, make duplicate keys, etc. - all the usual things a locksmith does. They're friendly, fast, and I've been very happy with their work. read more
