To start, I have never had bad service at Mr. G's and I've been coming here since they reopened. Sometimes they're busy and it takes longer to get your food. Sometimes there's a table of people who are being difficult and you don't get as much attention as a result. Maybe they're the ones leaving bad reviews, I don't know. I feel like that's a part of life. The pizza itself has never disappointed. I get the "four-maggio" and add pepperoni and occasionally jalapeno on top. The 3 extra cheeses really add another dimension to the food. The atmosphere is nice, usually playing jazz in the background. It's my favorite pizza place in town. read more

I've passed by here many times and finally stopped in for lunch. I chose the meatzone. OMG. It is gigantic. I almost ate half and I'm stuffed. My wife got a large pizza roll and it is big. Both were really good but you could feed 4 people easy. Our waitress was nice. She said the calzones are big but she was lying. Like I said it was huge! Like the size of a football at least. It's a nice place. Old wood floors. Upstairs eating area. Looks like they have live music sometimes. The music they played at lunch was nice. I recommend eating here. Just come hungry. read more

Well color me blue, I didn't know Mr. G's had a bar inside, lol. I went here with a meetup and there was some seating confusion on a very busy day, it was First Friday. The waitress was super rude about it. I ordered a espresso martini and it took about 25 minutes for me to get it. It was as strong as I like it, so I will give them that. I really liked the pizza here! I am a Bryan native, but live out of state now. On a recent trip home, I wanted pizza for everyone! I had tried a few different pretty good places in the area, but hadn't been to Mr. G's. I arrived and decided to have a beer while my order was prepared. My sever was Reagan. She was super friendly, quickly seated me and immediately offered me a drink. She engaged in some pleasant chat about the history of Mr. G's and the building, while my order was being prepared. Since I was there alone, I appreciated the conversation. I thought that was a nice first impression! The restaurant is large with eclectic decor. There was a lot to take in as I waited. If I had dined in, the window seating up front looked like the place to be! The reason I decided on Mr. G's was because they have a loaded Supreme Pizza. Much Better than most! And the Meat Zone Calzone is massive! So, that is what I ordered. The food came out about 20 minutes later steaming hot! The pizza hearty and delicious. The Calzone was packed with meat and lot's of Mozzarella cheese! Everything was delicious. I don't know what more that I could have asked for. The service was attentive and friendly. Wonderful service. Very fresh ingredients. Beautifully charred crust. Needed a grub fix which was also pet friendly for our pups. A few places including Mr. G's popped up, so command decision on a pie! Our waitstaff on the patio was sooooo sweet to our pups. Brought out water and some pizza crust and our spoiled girls loved it. The pizza was great. We got the supreme and you can tell the ingredients were super fresh, especially the veggies like bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms. The ham they used was awesome, beautiful and smoke-forward in flavor. The crust was amazeballs...bubbling on the outer edges with a gorgeous char on the bottom. The only nit I would have is the moisture control/release from the ingredients. Having made homemade pizza often, I know it's tough when using very fresh ingredients like this. My husband and I stopped by this place for a slice of pizza, it was delicious. They give you the option of your own toppings or any of their specialties. The service was good, but it would have been nice for them to check on us more. We quite often had to ask for things such as a fork for the salad, re fill for the soda. Sorry I'm a stickler! Dinner here with a large group of teens and parents after a show. Great space for groups. Customer service was amazing- our server was attentive and not phased by the multiple orders and split checks. To top it off- food was amazing! The dough of the pizza was yeasty and chewy. I love when a local business flourishes! I was looking for a local spot that had authentic pizza and an option of anchovies (I know- not everyone's cup of tea). After reading the history of Mr. G on their website, I knew my family had to give it a try. My boy's split a pineapple pepperoni pizza and I got my personal sardine, olive, and jalepeno pizza. The crust is delicious- chewy and seems New York in thickness. Sauce, cheese, and toppings all complimented each other and the ranch my son ordered was a welcomed surprise. It tasted homemade and the consistency was perfect. I also cannot forget our wonderful server- I only wish I'd gotten her name. She interacted my kiddos and was so sweet. She even assisted with the candy machine while I was tidying the table. My only complaint was that the pricing to add each topping was a little steep... for instance pickled jalepenoscosting the same as the anchovies etc seems a bit strange. Waited an hour for a pizza. When we inquired of the order, the waitress indicated she had no idea, and then walked off. We subsequently cancelled the order. When we paid for what we did receive, I specifically indicated no tip. When I received the ticket, the waitress decided she deserved a tip, and added it anyway. When I complained to the manager he tried giving some bs story that the tip defaults automatically. I insisted it be removed. I think he removed the charge from my card, but he gave me a generic receipt that did not include evidence. Again to my protest, he made up some excuse why a receipt with my card was not possible. I don't know how this place has been in business so long. Customer service is horrid, and fraudulent tactics like adding charges that are not authorized are actually unlawful. Stay away. I was in B/CS for the week at an AirBnB while waiting on Centerpoint to restore power to my house in The Woodlands after the hurricane. My wife asked what wanted for dinner and I remembered how great Mr G's was when I was in school (almost 30 years ago). I saw that they were still around and got excited. We ordered a variety of items through DoorDash and eagerly awaited our meal. It arrived in a timely manner and half the order was missing. We investigated and learned that the DoorDash driver had asked the restaurant to verify that he had the complete order before he left and they said yes (because they had given him an incomplete order earlier). I then had to drive to Mr G's to get the rest of my order (that I had paid to have delivered) and then return home. I was then severely disappointed. The food was horrible. Especially for the price. The pizza was mediocre; I have had much better and cheaper pizza from Gumby's (and to be honest, from CiCi's). The pizza roll was ok, but the dough was all wrong. The meatball sub sandwich was really bad. It was made with store-bought frozen meatballs that tasted freezer burned. My wife took one bite and threw it away. I had one slice of my large pizza and threw the rest away. Mr G's needs to make better food, train their staff better, and not suck. I am now disappointed because this experience destroyed a nostalgic memory from my time in Aggieland. read more

We reheated it the next day, 5 mins at 400G. All that said, if you love Gumby's pizza, Popa Johns or Domino. You are likely not going to like this style of pizza. Horrible experience. They were busy on Friday night, left our name and number for a table, told the wait was 30-40 min. After an hour and a half of no contact, we called and were told that they had our number wrong and they could now sit us immediately. Ordered two appetizers 15 min before ordering our pizza, but the pizza still came out first. When we then told them to cancel the apps, they informed us they were just now coming out. The garlic bread was ice cold. The pizza rolls were fine, but too much dough for our liking. The pizza was very soggy and we believe to be undercooked, as 3 of the 5 people in our party complained of stomach aches that night and into the next day. Thankfully they comped our appetizers, and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. Very very disappointed. I've gotten Mr. G's in the past and it was good, but now I won't order from them again. I placed an order today and when it was delivered I thought I was getting punk'd. We ordered a pepperoni pizza roll, a margarita pizza slice and an Italian sub. The pizza roll was decent but nothing special. The pizza slice was not at all what I was expecting and I ended up not eating it. The mozzarella was barely melted, there was no basil or seasoning and just overall very underwhelming. The sub was also extremely underwhelming. There was maybe 2 slices of meat total on the sub. If I wanted to eat bread I would've pulled a slice out of my pantry. read more

After visiting Mr.G's on First Friday and having a subpar experience, the owner, Susan, reached out to me to apologize and explain her side of the experience. After a nice conversation back and forth we came to understand what happened was a horrible miscommunication/misunderstanding. Mrs.Carnes was professional and understanding of my feelings of what occurred. Although I was not able to try the pizza at that time I'm excited to go back and give them another shot. However, we sat at the bar on a Saturday night, only people at the bar with three servers behind it making drinks and it took 8 minutes to even be recognized that we were there. The bartender seemed overwhelmed and like she didn't want to be there. Another gentleman came and sat at the bar and the bartender we assume knew him well because she begin eating off his plate right at the bar, never washing her hands in between her eating and making our next drinks. While visiting TX, and wandering Bryan during First Friday, we found this pizzaria and tried it out. The place was pretty busy, but people were seated and the waiting line was short. So, we were at a table fast. The builing looked pretty old so areas in need of repair were not hard to find, especially in the restroom (understandable). A mechanical issued occured while we were there that prevented the bakers from getting our order for an extended time. So, we waited a longer time than is probably average. We got the toasted ravioli and a 16" Gyro Pizza. They were out of the stuffed mushroom, and we were informed after ordering them. The marinara for the ravioli was very liquidy and did not have a strong flavor. The pizza bread was good, but the toppings were not evenly distributed (easily visable in the pics). I suspect that they were trying to make up lost time from the downed electrical equipment, but I would rather get quality food and an explanation for my wait. I'm reasonable, but I did not feel I got my money's worth. Pizzaria caught at less than their best. An only okay experience that I might try again but can't recomend until they pull it off better than they did. I'm from out of state so they might not get the chance. Edit for the owner: 1) This is not a smear review but an obsetvation and report of facts by a fact driven INTP. 2) If you are out of an item for a long time put a small piece of electrical tape on the item. It comes off easy. That was also an observation to set expectations. 3) I did not review the pizza on purpose because I am Greek and overly critical of Gyro things, but that is what the group wanted. My thoughts for real--the meat was under seasoned and the tsasiki had little taste of cucumber, but I loved the bread and expect I would like another pizza type. 4) The maranara was observation and to set expectations. People may want that; I did not care for it. It tasted under seasoned. 5) The word that pops up for 3 is "okay" and that is the word I used in my description. 6) Your people were definately responding fast and effectively. I commend them. I noted that accordingly in my review that I caught you at a less than optimal time. I stand by my observations and my opinions despite your sentiment. All 5 and 1 star reviews must be exceptional, good and bad, respectively, as far as I'm concerned. read more

I'm not sure how this place gets more than a single star, unless you're a fan of sub-par, barely adequate or edible ingredients haphazardly assembled. Additionally, I would say the staff is incompetent, but that would be an insult to incompetence. Go across the street and get better pizza and better service at Rx pizza. read more
