I've been wanting to come to Zeitman's since I stumbled on it on Yelp. I've been wanting a NY style Reuben sandwich for the longest time. We went on a Sunday and it was busy. The cashier said it was their busiest time. We lucked into finding a table to enjoy our food. It is like a busy deli in NYC. The Reuben was fantastic. My wife got the cheesesteak. They grill the meat and make the sandwiches right in front of you so they are hot and fresh. My wife's cheesesteak was ok. Seemed kind of dry and didn't have any peppers and not too many onions. Maybe that's the NYC way and not Philly. Anyway I love the place. We will definitely be back to try their bagels and other sandwiches. Oh yeah. I also got a Dublin soda. Received extremely friendly service when I ordered at the counter. We got the Richie rich and lox of love. I preferred the lox of love. I've been to the store twice. Once it was super busy and I barely had room to stand and this time there were a few open tables and plenty of standing room. It was around lunch time so I can understand it being packed but it was too much for me. You order at the counter. I recommend reviewing the menu before coming to the counter. I felt like I barely had time to look at the menu before I felt the irritation radiating off the server. Once I paid, I had to awkwardly move around to find a space to stand as I waited for my order. My family and I visited Zeitman's Grocery Store this past Sunday morning and, unfortunately, had an experience that left us very disappointed. My wife and I have both been to Zeitman's before, and as members of the Bryan Ambassador Program, we try to do all our early morning dates and about 80 percent of our date nights downtown. Sadly, this visit has changed our opinion of this particular spot. Normally I would give a business the benefit of the doubt, but after two days of thinking on it I just can't accept the fact that my wife and I were disrespected in a way that frankly I wouldn't be ok with from a random person on the street, much less someone I'm looking to purchase something from. We arrived with our two kids, my mother-in-law, and sister-in-law, excited to share one of our favorite local spots. When we approached the counter to order, the employee taking our order seemed visibly annoyed and dismissive from the start. While I managed to order for myself and my oldest son without too much issue, things took a turn when my wife began to place her order. She simply asked if they offered anything like a breakfast sandwiches -- a reasonable question considering the layout of the menu could easily cause confusion. The cashier abruptly responded, "These are all breakfast sandwiches," in a sharp, impatient tone. Trying to clarify, my wife then asked if the Richie Rich came with just bacon. The cashier snapped back, "They all come with eggs and cheddar cheese on it." My wife, annoyed at this point replied that the menu didn't specify that information. Instead of clarifying calmly, the cashier loudly insisted, "Yes, it does!" Frustrated but composed, my wife said, "Never mind, I'm okay," and began to step away. At that point, the employee continued shouting across the busy shop, "I'm just trying to help you," still with the same attitude drawing unwanted attention and making the entire situation uncomfortable for everyone present. This exchange not only embarrassed my wife in front of our family and other customers but also completely soured what should have been a pleasant Sunday breakfast. Customer service is about creating a welcoming atmosphere especially in a small, community-oriented establishment. Instead, we left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Unfortunately, this interaction lost the business of six people that day, and likely for good. We genuinely hope the owners address this issue so that future customers receive the friendly service that local businesses like Zeitman's are known for, because this was not it. read more

It was a complete let down, Yelp made it sound like a nice grocery- bagel store. It was not. It was dark and dingy, kind of disheveled on the shelves with an eclectic array of products, not an actual grocery store. We stopped in at Zeitman's for breakfast. We were greeted immediately by a friendly staff member who took our order. She then answered questions we had about some other items for sale in the store (i.e., those giant cinnamon rolls). We ordered toasted blueberry bagels with cream cheese. They came out just a few minutes after we ordered and were nicely toasted with a nice chew. The cream cheese was enough but not too much. Really good! The store's ambiance feels like part grocery store, part New York Deli. It's neat that so many generations have kept it going. We'll be back when we're in College Station again. read more

The service was very fast. You go order at the counter, and then your number is called for pick up at the deli counter. When I went around 1pm they were out of plain bagels, which is normal when the bagels are made fresh that day. I ordered the Richie Rich with a salt bagel, which had a TON of bacon. I paid roughly $14 for solely the breakfast bagel, which I think is overpriced. However, the bagel was very filling. My eggs were overcooked - I don't know how there was runny yolk on the wrapper because the egg yolks were cooked through. The menu states eggs are over medium, but my eggs came over hard. Next time I would ask for an over easy egg. Overall, the food was good. I think I expected more of a hole in the wall bagel shop like you'd find in NYC - surprisingly I could get the same thing for cheaper and better in NYC. When I arrived in College Station to visit my friend, we decided to make this our first stop to have lunch before we got our weekend started! I told her I was looking for a place with a good sandwich and she told me she knew just the place, and she was right! The shop is in what you would consider the downtown area with other shops and boutiques close by. This is a proper delicatessen with some grocery items (chips, drinks, desserts, candy, bread, meats, etc.) as well as some indoor and outdoor seating if you choose to enjoy your meal on site. When we arrived, we were greeted quickly and made our way over to the deli counter to order our lunch. Since we arrived mid afternoon, they did not have all the bagels and bread options, but they did have a nice looking hoagie and that's what I needed! I opted to create a boring sandwich since I don't need too many things on mine. Just a turkey with lettuce and dijon mustard for me. I asked for honey mustard, but they did not offer that as an option. I honestly can't remember what sandwich my husband ordered, but I added a photo so if anyone knows what it is, let me know and I can update the caption for it (sorry)! We each grabbed a drink (tea and lemonade for us) with chips and paid at the counter. Oh, and I also grabbed a giant cookie just because it looked so good. While we waited for our food, we found a table outside and just hung out for a bit while waiting. After a few minutes, I went inside to wait at the deli counter and noticed they were making the meat (for my husband's order) on their griddle and so I knew it would be fresh and tasty! After about 10 minutes, the sandwiches were ready and I was so ready to eat! I went outside and devoured my sandwich. The bread was so fresh and I loved the flavor of the turkey. It was a cold sandwich to enjoy on a hot day! I noticed people were stopping by to pick up their orders and some people even walked outside with pizza boxes...do they sell pizza? Wow! High expectations met with a big disaster. We drove an extra hour just to eat here so we were hungry and ready to eat. Walking inside it was super busy- which is always a good sign. We ordered quickly and sat down to wait.... and wait, and wait some more. We waited over an hour and 1/2 for two sandwiches. Granted I don't mind waiting for good food, but when I opened our sandwiches and they were a sloppy mess, with the wrong bread, I have a big problem. The meat was rubbery and there was little on it. The dressing had slid out the sides and the bread was cut on one , but not on the other. In this situation regardless of how busy you are, or short handed you are, just communicate with your customers. If you are that backed up, stop taking orders. If you run out of bread just say it. I respect that you are busy or run out of items but don't leave your customers sitting around waiting and then give them something they didn't order.
