Take your car here! That is all you need to know. I have a pre owned car that I took to the dealer…read morefor service. Well, in the past they haven't "lied" or exaggerated the need for service to my previous cars but this time they did. I had brought it in for a tune up but I had noticed the heat was taking longer than usual to warm up and the other day the check engine light came on for a second and then went off. So, the guy told me the mechanic saw it overheating and coolant coming out and it was crazy and all the hoses had to be replaced ASAP. He said it was un-drivable and would be like $2,000 to replace. I was so upset and felt hopeless and started to think who I could call to borrow the money. I thought it was strange because I hadn't seen it overheat and the gauge never moved past halfway. He was showing me pictures of how it looked and all. I told him I needed to see if another mechanic was cheaper and if they would let me pay over time. I called the guy who does my tires and he referred me to Meineke. He said he goes there when he needs work on his car. He told me they were honest. I asked the guy at the dealer if it was safe to drive the 20 minutes to Brick and he said he thinks it should be okay. So, I arrived at Meineke and spoke to RJ. I told him the story. He said he thinks they were exaggerating. So, RJ visually looked at the hoses and he said all looked good except one but it was hard to see. He didn't see any overheating. He couldn't see me that day but scheduled me for Friday first thing (it was Wednesday). He told me he would fill the reserve with coolant and then him and the others in the shop loved how the dealer told me they couldn't put any coolant in the reserve because it had to be my car type of coolant and it would take an hour to get that done. I was annoyed the dealer let me drive with no coolant in the reserve for the 20 minute drive and then find out the car could take general coolant for cars. I left and later bought extra coolant just in case. I returned on Friday morning and they checked it out. Turns out I only needed a clamp of the heater hose. That is why the heat wasn't getting so warm and why the coolant was leaking. I applied for the Synchrony Car Care card in the shop, which they take for all services, and got approved. I didn't even know a card like this existed but it's good for people who can't pay for all their auto expenses up front. Since the part was so cheap, only $50 and not $2k, I got a tune up (since my car is over 100k miles) and they replaced two bulbs that were out. All for the grand total of $314! This business has been family owned since 1979 by the grandparents. I met the son and his son (RJ) and they told me other family members work there as well. The customers in the waiting room told me they wouldn't take their car anywhere else. This is the type of place I would love to go back to. And as a side note, the guys next door at Quicky Discount Oil Change were nice and helpful as well. I will be bringing my car to get my oil changed there in the future.

So that led me to look up other options and I found meineke with amazing reviews and now I know why! They were so honest and nice! My light went off with a coolant warning. It ended up being just below the line so they didn't even charge me! So nice and will return in the future!!

The others were fine, obviously not their responsibility). There was another customer cursing because he would have to wait as long as the rest of us. The clerks did a much better job dealing with these two than I would have. They were honest and apologetic when they said it would take 2 hours before they could fit me in as a walk in. I was out in an hour and a half. Before I went, I had visited a few websites for prices and planned out what I was willing to spend. I came in under-budget, if just barely. Getting your car repaired is never fun, especially in a case like mine when I found a screw in my tire just before I wanted to go out. These guys made it as pleasant as it could be given the circumstances

After some time the guy at the counter tells me one of the studs snapped and needed to replaced. Charge a little over $300.00. When I balked he said he could do it for a little over $200.00. I explained I just had a stud replace at another business when I got the new tires and although I could not remember the exact cost it was well under $100.00. Told him to just fix the flat rebalance & remount the tire. I'd get the stud replaced at Brick's Best who did the first one for less than $100. All of a sudden they were fixing the busted stud for free. Which leads me to believe the stud was never busted to begin with. I will NEVER go to this business again. I feel they saw an older female & saw an easy target. I am not stupid don't insult my intelligence. I was not born yesterday. Now I am taking the car to my regular mechanic to make sure they did not sabotage anything on my vehicle. Wouldn't trust them with my worst enemy.
