Mr. Everything used to be everything to get your life, but the past 6 months have been down hill! They stopped taking call in orders, meaning everyone now HAS to wait that outrageous wait time they have for carry out orders (35-60 min). One time they took over an HOUR AND A HALF just for some chicken over rice, so I told them to keep the food and walked out. Ridiculous! I could have ordered somewhere else and been home by then! The customer service is HORRIBLE. The lady over the counter turns her back to the customers and ignores us because she doesn't want to deal with the complaints. And I would keep going back to this place despite all their failures for the food. But the FOOD IS TERRIBLE compared to what they used to be. This is my favorite place to eat in Atlanta. I was so sad when they were temporarily close and I live in NC! This is always my first stop. I always get the shrimp rice plate. It's so AMAZING. You still have to wait at least 20 minutes for your food because it's cooked to order but it's worth the wait. I will say that the place itself is pretty small so if there's more than 8 people, it gets pretty cramped. Once you walk in there's a huge menu (like life sized menu) on the wall, so no need to ask how much anything costs and there's some signage about where to order but it's not that clear about where the line ends or begins. A lot of people seemed to have an issue figuring out where to order. They have a good ol call out your number system and they prefer you pay before you get your food which I felt made the process easy (probably because that's normally how you do it at a causal place) but others seemed upset about it. When your food is ready they open the container to show you exactly what you get before you leave so there should be no issues with your order. I realllllllly must say even through all the chaos, the two ladies working the front counter were sooooo nice and patience. You can tell they deal with the foolishnes everyday. I didn't know what to order, so I simply asked this chic who sounded like she was a regular. She told me about the rice bowl (Healthy Choice Rice) with your choice of added meat that was the go to when you're a newbie. So that's what I did. I got the Grilled Salmon Rice Bowl with a house lemonade. The reason I vouch for this spot is because all the food is fresh and cooked to order. Nothing is prepared ahead of time. Everything is cooked in front of you and catered to YOU. Being they have such a strong/popular reputation in the community, wait times can be a bit much, but just wait it out. Go outside and smoke a lucy or hop on IG. It'll be out in no time. Rice bowls include grilled onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, spinach and topped with three cheeses plus diced tomatoes and your choice of meat. I recommend the chicken, steak, lamb, salmon, or shrimp if you're just starting out. Never tried the Chipotle Black Bean but I'm sure if that's what you're into, give it a try. Do NOT get the rice bowl without 2 creole sauces. That's how you set the tone, trust me! Their subs/sandwiches are money! She said it'll be ready in 25mins. When we got there about 30mins later, our food was ready. The girl was very sweet. I had a voucher and I told her I had $3 more to spend. She suggested a chocolate cake $2 or a cookie $1 or a soda $1. I picked a cake and a cookie, and gave her a $2 tip. The food is as great as I remembered. I went here two days in a row because i couldn't believe the food was so good! Quick tip though: try to order online or over the phone because if you order in person there will always be a 30 minute wait. However, the wait is definitely worth it. I had rice bowls both days. One with lamb and the next day with Salmon, and comes with cheese, broccoli, tomatoes, and etc. Amazing i found a place whose can maintain fresh and tasty food with high volume. I also treated myself to their blue berry and chocolate chip muffins and they were moist the way I like it. Of course i have to mention that they do take measures to ensure safety during these times of COVID-19 with floor decals of 6ft apart and plastic screens from guest and staff. Born and raised here in Atlanta and even went to school at MBC but have never been here, they were offering 50% off to nurses this week for nurses week so I thought to myself why not. Parking is street parking on the meter so FYI. Went in ordered the yellow rice dish minus tomato and it was very, very good. Portions are enough for two or lunch and then dinner later.
