This restaurant is fantastic and I've been a good 30-35 times over the years. The eggplant fries, 3/4" thick onion rings, gumbo (I'm a hard judge on this one as I make a great one myself), and the stuffed artichoke is awesome with phenomenal breading. At certain times, they have stuffed seafood mirlitin (chayote) that makes me speed to get there for it. Full of seafood not all breading like most places. The lump crabmeat au gratin is to die for. It's is FULL of crab lumps and shrimp. The stuffed shrimp and the paneer veal are fantastic. Great service that are knowledgeable & friendly. The restaurant is very clean and yes, I checked the bathrooms too. All great! There are also many Italian foods, too. I haven't tried those I cook those at home. Service was good, food wasn't great. Cleanliness of the restaurant reflects the poor rating. Our table had a dirty table napkin under it covered in crumbs and grime, it looked as if it had been there for days. I started to notice how nasty the floor looked around the entire restaurant. I ordered the chicken Parmesan, chicken was good but the angel hair pasta genuinely tasted like it was boiled the night before and sat in a colander since. Idk how you mess up angel hair pasta that bad. Also, there must be a better place to put the dirty towel hamper than in the main dining room, no one wants to see that while they eat. read more

I visit this restaurant at least once a month. The menu has so many good choices. I enjoy the fried shrimp platter and the shrimp are plentiful. My husband usually has the fried chicken platter. Our favorite server is JoJo. read more

On yesterday I had an unfortunate experience at Mr. Eds Kenner. We walked into the new entrance now located in the front. Upon entering we received the you're not welcome stares by patrons....some will know what I mean when I say this (it was a very cold reception but not by the immediate staff at the door). I am trying to be tactful. The staff continued to have smiles and immediately seated us. It was busy and most tables were full when we entered. By the time we sat the last two tables were also taken. We waited about 5 mins for our waitress Ashley. She took our order and was super patient with us. We noticed a gentleman in all purple asking all of the tables around us if they were ok and if they needed anything. Thought it was slightly off putting that he failed to ask my husband and I. My husband said it's because we don't have our food yet. I said ok. We received our food and We began to eat by unrolling our silverware only to find dried food on the fork. Just nasty! At this time the gentleman in purple (Joey) returned to ask if they were ok and this time came even closer to us by going past us to the table behind us and the table beside us and it was clear that he intentionally meant to not check on us because this time I looked at him giving him a chance to say something and he looked me dead in my face with a smirk on his face to let me know. So my husband called him out and he came and said that he didn't think that he overlooked us.....I was so humiliated at this time. All of this is happening in a full restaurant that was not loud. At this time Ashley returned with our now clean Silverware and we began to divulge as he walked away with her. We also noticed that the front of the house workers were young and caucasian and the kitchen was all black men. Could have been just that this day this is how the staff stacked up but I I been here on several occasions before covid and never saw diversity in the front of the house.... I want to get back to why we came to this restaurant: 1: The food is consistently good 2: We were in the area and wanted to eat With that alone I would have rated my visit a 5 star but to make someone who is spending their money in your establishment or one that you manage is the one star rating. I would feel much better if you just put up a sign saying who you wish not to patron your restaurant then I can patron those that want my money and presence. This is so unfortunate in this day in time. I could only imagine how the back of the house is treated. One it was time for my check I thought that it would be befitting that I ask my waitress name again and I let her know that we appreciated her and thanked her. The I let her know that I would mention her in my Yelp review! Her face lit up, she is truly a gem. Then we asked about the disrespectful gentleman and now he gets his feature also. We received our final check and now that Joey is aware that I would be writing a review he decided to come and give a half hearted apology. He could have made that apology when he was called out on his behavior earlier. If you want to be disrespected for your race then please by any means go to Mr. Eds Kenner. Get it together Mr. Ed this is 2021 not 1950. You never know who you are entertaining. Could be an angel! read more

Meatballs were definitely homemade and seasoned very well. The red sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. Calamari was so fresh and delicious, a must try. Hubby had the fried chicken and said it was some of the best. Jo, server, was absolutely fantastic. So sweet and very attentive. read more

In town for work and went for a late dinner. As I was in the area - Ordered an Old Fashioned that was solidly good but not great. That's okay - in my experience I have come to expect that most places don't make a great basic cocktail. I think that's why craft cocktail places have taken off because people have recognized that the art of making a fine cocktail is fading. I digress. So I didn't come here for the cocktails. But I did come here for dinner. Ordered another "classic" dish - which is always a crap shoot - and this one rolled up well: Trout Almandine with a very nice Meunière sauce - on the side - so you get to decide how much is applied. Accompanied by a nice steamed veg medley and some roasted potatoes - washed down with a glass of Pinot Grigio - it was nicely done. read more

We have been patrons of this location of the Mr. Ed's restaurant group since the opening. We also frequent the Oyster House, Austin's, and the original Mr. Ed's on Live Oak. We are long time customers. This Kenner location has been going down for quite a while. The empty parking lot at 7pm on a Friday night was a bad omen. The inconsistency in food quality is probably a contributing factor. Just left there after trying to eat a Trout Meunière that was so salty it was almost inedible, while the boring, boring sides (almost never get changed) were so bland that we decided to go home to fix the dish to give it some flavor. I don't see these problems at the other locations. The ambiance is good as is the service. The kitchen desperately needs inspiration and direction. We have always liked the Mr. Ed's group. Sorry to see this happen at the Kenner outlet. Hope they come up with a Happy Hour, or some good specials to bring the crowds back. The specials offered on this visit were under-whelming. read more

My husband and I have eaten here 4x's during lunch. Never a problem being seated. The menu is long and has so many different dishes and cuisines in which I love variety! The staff waits on your table immediately which is great. We have had the crawfish bread -good, stuffed green peppers-delicious, redfish with topping- delicious, fried chicken and potato salad-good. We came on a Friday around 3 pm and they were offering the lunch menu still! My sister ordered the chicken parm and I ordered the Shepard's pie! And boy was I super impressed! The price was super affordable and the portions were ginormous!!! The chicken parm was perfectly cooked and served over a bed of angel hair pasta! My Shepard's pie was DEVINE! I like my food on the more salty side and always have to add salt to dishes and this was just perfect! Nothing needed! Also got side salads before the entree! Admistrative assistant day and my boss took all of us out for lunch. I was worried about this place because it did not specify gluten free options in the menu but I figured they could grill something for me. To begin we were a group of 10 so my expectations were low... I figured it was going to take forever to sit us and that it would take forever to serve us. I was proved wrong. It only took them about five minutes to get our table ready in spite of being lunch time and the place being packed. Briyanna was our waitress and I immediately asked her if there were GF options. She said they were able to prepare anything on the grill, vegetables and salad but she was going to talk it over with the kitchen first. I was able to order grilled shrimp with squash and zucchini. The spices they season it with are delicious. I loved it! My co-workers order gluten full dishes and loved them too. In particular the spinach side dish which turned out to be GF too. The staff was friendly and service was quick. I am coming back to Mr. Ed's in Kenner and definitely bring friends that visit New Orleans for the first time because this place really captured the flavors I love about this city. read more

We ate at Mr. Ed's in Kenner last night. We had the oyster salad again!!! It was nothing compared to their mid city location on Carrollton like I had previously ordered a couple of weeks ago!!! The oysters in Kenner were cooked with flour, were mushy, served over regular lettuce not spinach, and the dressing just a regular vinaigrette...not the specialty dressing served at the other location!!! The restaurant in mid city cooked their oysters in yellow corn meal and were fried to perfection. Apparently, each location can cook their own version of a menu item!!!! We will never go back to the Kenner location and I told them so!!!!!!!! read more

So visiting my daughter, she keep talking about this place. We walk in, 4 of us, to a semi warm welcome. The waitress was so unfriendly and it seemed like we were annoying her by being there. Home Cooking In My Backyard I've been familiar with this place since it started and have been here a few times. I always enjoy the food and they bring a big crowd of people. This time I ordered the turkey and dressing meal, one of my all-time favorite foods. The meal comes with a salad, white and dark meat, sweet potatoes Louisiana yams, cornbread dressing and gravy. Our group arrived at 11 and we were seated right away, but reception was a bit cold. Party of 6, as well as repeat customers(until that day). Service was poor. Drink wait time/order time too long. Waitress was inattentive from drink service to serving hot food. We were able to see the kitchen, as it was right there, and we could see the food was ready to be served, but one order was not ready and waitress waited to serve all at once we decided. She noticed we were aware of the situation and came over and explained the Shepard's Pie daily special was not ready. We told her to just bring out the rest of the orders. Once 5/6 orders came out we realized there was one order that was wrong and the food was lukewarm at best. Shepard's pie took about 15 more minutes to come out. Drink refills were not offered until the very end. Doubt any of us will return as we all resented the 20% added gratuity considering the poor service and quality of food. read more

How do you order calamari and get fried octopus on your plate. I told my waiter I did not want it and she looked at me like a deer in headlights and then said she would get her manager. She gets the manager who comes to the table and doesn't even acknowledge that we are here and said we don't want this took the plate and left... very unprofessional especially coming from restaurant business....
